Portugal will win it this time. I have a sneaky feeling that they will win ugly.
I have little doubt he will, Koscielny nor Umtiti can keep up in the air with him.
Would be interesting if Deschamps starts Coman on the right... Sissoko was needed for his defensive attributes against Germany, but against a Portugal that will likely sit off France, maybe a more attacking player from the right would help break Portugal down. I highly doubt he'd do this, why change a winning system, but it would be an interesting option to take. The other consideration is Kante, but it would appear Pogba and Matuidi are definite starters, so starting Kante means Griezmann out of position. Good selection headaches for Deschamps to have nonetheless.

On paper, France should beat Portugal but any team with Ronaldo is always a threat. This is why I'd have preferred Germany to face Portugal.
I felt quite certain that France and Portugal were going to play in the final but now i have conflicting intuitions. I think the most obvious scenario - a narrow win for France - won't happen. Either France will win quite convincingly or Portugal will beat them with the latter outcome more likely to happen (if Pepe is ready to play, that is). I wouldn't be surprised if Ronaldo scored from...a free kick.

I had the same thinking as you too when they face Germany in the semis. I'm a fan of Germany. But the thing is France relish the home pressure and they are extremely motivated to win this cup at home.
Portugal have had a relative easy route this tournament, but have made it very difficult along the way.

He reminds me a little Zidane at Madrid in being quietly authoritative. He wasn't afraid to not start Griezmann and Pogba but I never got the impression that he was pre-occupied with demonstrating who was boss as some coaches seem to be. It was just the right move for the match, with no discredit attached, and no having to work their way back into his good graces. And the result of that sort of attiude is a happy, cohesive team.
Well, Antoine Griezmann's maternal grandparents also came to France from Portugal, so if France win they can claim the victory as theirs, too. I would love to see Portugal win a Euro or World Cup one day.

I hate to say this but I really hope Portugal wins. I want it for Cristiano. This could his best and last shot at winning something on the international stage.

It is more a feeling than something rational. France have a better team and if they manage to come to terms with the huge pressure of the expectations,they will be flying. If Portugal manage to score first, however, then the pressure on France could help them big time.

Hope with all my hearth that Portugal loses, it's absolutely embarassing that a team who has won in 90 min once, and didnt win once in the group stage, gets to the final. Very dull team, who have had all luck in the world. Would be a black day in football for me, while I usually like Portugal because if Nani and Ronaldo.
