Final: Italy vs England

Is this the biggest game of all time for English United fans ?

For me yes. It's about what you've experienced. My first World Cup was 1990 and I was 14 at Euro 96 so my childhood in England terms was defined by those tournaments where we came so close. After that England were terrible until 2018. In contrast I lived through a period of incredible success supporting United basically experiencing the whole of Fergie's glory years. I'm close to 40 now so I don't get as emotionally invested as I used to so United being relatively average doesn't trouble me all that much given what I've seen. I'd love to see England win this but I'm actually just happy to see England not being shit. Low expectations perhaps.

I’m English and an England fan

But looking at this with my head, how are England favourites?! Italy haven’t lost in God knows how long and have a much better XI. Weird odds.

11/10 on skybet for Italy to win the tie. I feel like I’m missing something. A couple of days on English food and the Italians will get a stomach bug?
Odds reflect betting. People will be betting with their hearts. It effectively means nothing

Disappointed in some of you England fans it’s a massive match and you should be overjoyed with it, out sticking flairs up your arse and such things..

We English don’t have social skills, so we stick flares up our bums to impress our friends.

Double jabbed but tested positive for covid so spending it laid in bed on my own, not quite how I pictured tonight :lol:

England fans in large quantities acting like pissed up Neanderthals isn't exactly unheard of, Covid or not.
It was always going to happen.

Also, British policing techniques tend to a bit more soft-handed than in other places. They let things go in the first instance to avoid stirring up aggro, then go in quietly later to make the arrests. It makes for a handful of embarrassing videos on Twitter, but leads to better crowd control in the long run.

That coke snorter in 100% going to be in handcuffs right now.

Yeah a thing I keep seeing people mention is how it's nice to finally see England in a final regardless of the result. And living over here it is quite enjoyable watching everyone getting amped up One of my brothers is off to a England party, there is some sense of community.

Still at kick off I will be wearing my Maradona shirt and putting on Franco Battiato at full blast!

This actually looks attacking. Will mean a very high midfield line with Rice basically playing CB when England have the ball and Trippier and Shaw as wingers.

And before anyone says it's English betting that's swaying the odds, I had to use VPN to access the site in each country.

you realise being jabbed isn’t supposed to make you stop catching the virus right? it just helps you defend against the symptoms.

people seem to think once they get 2 jabs you can’t catch it for some reason. anyway get better soon!

Shaw, Maguire, Stones, Trippier, Walker, Rice, Phillips, Mount. In a single team.

In a European final, quite possibly one of the most negative team selections I have ever seen. Sterling and Kane are going to need to work miracles

We've established from your posting during this tournament you've not seen much football before nor is your knowledge particularly respected.

No, but seriously it’s a massive match that might only come once in a lifetime enjoy it..
Me personally, am at home with my 2 year old. I’m enjoying myself a lot.

England fans in the main will be fine, it’s the minority that get the headlines. If it was in Italy tonight I’m sure we’d hear about some Italians doing bad things

Any significant variation in odds across markets will be quickly arbitraged away by professional gamblers and brought back into line.

Wait, what the hell, you.....have a negative opinion about England? You've kept it well hidden throughout the last few weeks. But hey at least Rashford isn't playing.

For me it's United over England but I'm well aware I might not see this again in my lifetime and whatever the result it's been a great tournament for England and the country so far. Just hope we can get over the line. Especially after the disappointment of the Europa final!

Reverting to a formation that was successful against the Germans is hardly cowardly. And it's not as if he can't adopt a more attacking approach later in the game - after the Italians have run out of steam, of course.
England escaped that match. If Germany had their usual cold-blooded striker instead of wasteful, inept Werner, they would’ve gone up 1-0, and Muller would’ve sealed it.

As a neutral, Southgate’s team selection is always uninspiring. They were so dynamic vs. Ukraine, yet he reverts to form.

Heart leans England, head says Italy. Classic reverse jinx, I’m picking Italy 2-0.

Yeah you get idiots everywhere, good luck anyway!

Thankfully, the England management and fans aren't as arrogant about the team as you seem to be.
