Final - Germany vs. Argentina

England and their obsession with "star" players. Germany are a brilliant team. And besides, if players like Muller, Klose, Ozil and Neuer are not considered "star players," then I think Beckham has a different concept of a star player. Probably thinks star players should be dreadlocked, married to a pop stars and wear sarongs.

I missed the cartoon.. What was it? There is one still posted, I'm assuming there was something else that got some upset because the "take over the world" is not even remotely offensive.

Whot? I don't rate the team as high as some people do, but players like Neuer, Hummels, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Müller and even Özil, on form, are all clearly World Class. Seriously, Beckham really isn't one to talk, considering that he was never on the level that some German players are on, at least not consistently. Being a star player isn't all about your hair, David. Saying that a team that has the best goalkeeper, one of the top five (at least) centre backs, the best full back, two of the top ten (at least) central midfielders and Müller (can't really put him anywhere) in it doesn't have any star players is just freaking ridiculous. Argentina might have been the individually better side at the last two World Cups but now Germany's squad clearly outclasses Argentinias squad on paper. Doesn't mean they're going to win, since that wasn't the case the last two times, but if Germany loses it will not be due to the lack of star players but because Argentina will put in a good team effort. They are even more about the collective this tournament than Germany are.

No one was upset, they were just wumming Blackwidow. It was about the least offensive photo I've ever seen.

Probably be a tight game this, Germany 2-1 in normal or extra time.

Cue a goalfest.

Germany have been the best team of this tournament so they should it. But in a one off game , anything can happen. I'm expecting Messi to play a blinder.

Actually I think the fact that we don't have a star player that 90% of our attacks will be played over is a good thing. We are way less predictable if you compare it to Argentina. Every team that man marked Messi out of the game so far has absolutely nullified any attacking threat of Argentina bar the few occasions that the ball found Higuain and apart from one game he bottled all his chances.

Our team on the other hand has half a dozen player that can pose a danger to the opposition defense thus man marking one player out of the game won't really do them much good, against the Dutch this worked because they run most of their attacks over Robben just like Argentina does over Messi.

The only thing that really is a concern for me tonight is if Di Maria is able to play or if Messi has his game of the year tonight. If we manage to control Messi though we have about a 75% chance to win this game I would say.

Playing football at 7 so will be recording the match and watching it later on. Rooting for the Germans, a repeat of their semi final would be

Who plays football the same time as the World Cup Final?! :wenger:

Last week was the first time I've done any exercise in over a year. Obviously I ran round like a mad man for 15 minutes before dying on my arse. Went in goal for the last 45 and nearly threw up. Me, a 19 year old, nearly fainting through exhaustion while my 53 year old dad (also playing) worked his arse off for an hour. Needless to say I got a lot of abuse that night.

Gutted I won't be watching live, but due to my ridiculous lack of fitness I feel I need to play as regularly as possible.

Brazil tell me how it feels!

For God's sake, it's the world cup final!

If I was Pique after winning the WC and the UCL I'd quit football and dedicate my life to fecking Shakira

Well, the second best outcome to Brazil winning the WC is Argentina losing the finals.. Lets hope ze Germans don't screw it up

ps : what a shitty cerimony

fecking sick of all these pundits saying they want an Argentine win for Messi, it's a fecking team sport and Germany have been significantly better than Argentina this World Cup and over the last 8 years, they deserve the World Cup, not Messi, Germany, Messi has his Ballon d'Or's, that's his recognition. This sub-standard Argentine team who scrapped past the dog shit of Iran, Nigeria, Bosnia and Switzerland before two completely undeserved wins over Belgium and Holland does not deserve the World Cup.

Bitterness dripping from this. One thing no-one can deny is that the Argies won fair and square.

What does Schurrle have to do to get a first team spot then?!

This is going to be as shit as Argentinas semi as they will play to spoil and defend. They will either win 1-0 or on pens in a lacklustre affair. Im cheering for ze Germans. This match could be the difference in me watching future World cups or not.

If Germany score early in the game it would be nice. Go Hummels!

Of all times, why would you pick the most inconvenient.

Should be an interesting game after, just hoping Messi can turn up and produce like we know he can.

Argentina are a very organised side at the back, they haven't conceded in the knockouts yet, but the Germans will be a different test but I think it'll be very tight. The German back line is vulnerable to pace, especially down Mertesackers side to I'm expecting a few balls in behind him for Higuain/Lavezzi/Messi to chase down and try and nick one.

As in all recent matches, Mertesacker won't be on the pitch.

despite not playing that well and Messi not have a great World Cup and Germany hammering the host nation and playing pretty well, I still feel Argentina will win tonight, Messi need a World Cup win under his belt to be viewed has one of the true greats and I think he will produce the goods tonight.
