Films you like, but most criticise them, so you wouldn't want to admit it

Uwe Boll :nervous:

some of his flicks are plain crap, but for a B movies... it's quite enjoyable, just don't expect it to be bay-ish.

He's really getting too much flak at times, he's not that bad of a director, bad probably, but he really doesn't deserve the shit storm he's getting

You do when you tread on the nerds domain. That's where most of the shit comes from. Movie nerds and computer geeks join hands in bashing him.

No Retreat, No Surrender
Dumb & Dumber
2012

feckin loved No Rereat No Surrender, havent seen it in years. Class show & true story aswell ;) Aul Jean Claude Van Damme makin his proper acting debut - Breakdance the movie doesnt count. The amount of times i rented this flick when i was a teen - i could have bought it a couple of hundred times over. Didnt have two vids to do the aul vid copying :(

Dumb & Dumber is a bittuva classic in some sense. Its completely stupid but a very nice buddy film too, chucked in with incredible thickness. One of the best in that type of show. Great laugh!

I like 2012 aswell. Not the biggest fan of John Cusack as he does some less than entertaining films, but i really enjoyed this show. He was pretty good in it, and i love the aul loser turned hero storyline & the supporting cast sub-storylines made the show very enjoyable!

Good choices dude

Alot of folk didnt like "Knowing" with Nicholas Cage, but i loved it. Same as "Signs" with Mel Gibson. I love sci-fi/supernatural shows, aslong as they've got a decent cast & storyline of course!

"We were Soldiers" is a flick i love aswell, i find very descriptive of war, where we see the effect war has on the women left behind. Gibson, Madelaine Stowe & Sam Elliott were excellent in this.. but others will beg to differ, such is life tho!

I have fond memories of No Retreat, No Surrender from my childhood. I can never watch it again though because I also had fond memories of American Ninja with Michael Dudikoff and having watched 10 minutes of it recently, I can no longer trust my childhood taste in martial arts movies.

You read my mind. I was a big fan of No retreat no surrender as a kid. I have American ninja 2 on video. The other night it was on sky. I started to watch it as i was thinking great film. I managed about 30 minutes before turning it off with my head in shame.

I think the Goonies and Space Camp will be like it aswell. Loved as a kid, but would make me cringe now.

Yep - American Ninja i loved also. Cant watch it now - its absolute nonsense, but thats growing up for ya & the level that martial arts film-makin has risen to since then..

Another show i still like tho is "Bloodsport" with Van Damme, thats purely for the styles & technique of the fighters at the Kumite - not the shit actin sequences, although some of it is grand. Forrest Whittaker was in this aswell - must have been one of his earliest roles!

Its actually a true story too, here's the real Frank Dux:

1.42mins in..

Van Damme is my hero. The film with Dennis Rodman was insane(ly bad). You could notice the goofs in that before you had imdb to read about them, shit was so awful, but so so amazing.

This put me in mind to see this show again, so i just bought the "No Retreat No Surrender" boxset for €7.99 - fecking steal. The 2nd & 3rd parts are muck, but the 1st one was €5.99 on its own, so i said what the hell..

Havent seen it in God knows how many years, hopefully i dont cringe too much & just reflect on its greatness when i was a young wipper-snapper!

Nah, the Goonies still holds up. Not seen Space Camp in over 20 years though, not sure about that one.

Also, how did I forget this gem?:

Good shouts. Cage did his best to try and ruin Knowing but it was alright, and it was a very brave way to end a mainstream movie.

The Mothman Prophecies

Judge Dredd with Stallone
The Star Wars Prequels

Also on the list for me

I will kill any man who doesn't like this movie.

For me: American Ninja 2. I used to watch that movie weekly with my brothers when I was a little kid.

Good choices dude
Thanks, mate. Might want to check out these, some of my favourites.

Police Academy 1

Don't be a Menace to the South Central While Drinking your Juice in the Hood

Old School

Starship Troopers

The 'burbs

Top Secret

Didn't think Starship Troopers was that disliked really, I at least remember it getting 5 from both Empire and Total Film at the time, I thought it was great...could see why purists would dislike it though.

The thread started out well enough with a Titanic or two, but is it me or since then has there been a glaring absence of romantic comedies/dramas in here.

It's like movie Werewolf.

Romantic comedies. That show "He's just not that into you" was a decent show i thought. I slagged it to death because of the title, but after watchin it i was pleasantly surprised. I'd recommend it! Marley & Me was a nice show aswell, many didnt like it. Also, although not quite a romantic comedy, i loved Hatchi with Richard Gere!

Only did 1 film, but many tv episodes. I still love to watch AIRWOLF. Its cheesy as hell, but just a good old entertainment show which im embarrassed to admit my love for.
