Onto the next round!

Each Monday, I will set up a new round for the contest.

Each round will represent a different genre of film (I have tried to include all the big genres).

The genres are below (BOLDED IS THE CURRENT ROUND FOR THIS THREAD):

Round 1 - Action & Adventure
Round 2 - War & Western
Round 3 - Fantasy & Superhero
Round 4 - Crime & Noir
Round 5 - Comedy & Romance
Round 6 - Drama
Round 7 - Horror
Round 8 - Sci-Fi
Round 9 - Thriller & Mystery
Round 10 - Animation & Musicals
Round 11 - Resurrection (Bonus Round)
Round 12 - The Knockout Round
Round 13 - The Finals

For each round, please list your top 5 movies from the genre in list view.

Please do this by Friday 11:59pm GMT (please stick to this as last time people kept voting late and that causes me massive headaches on the weekends).

5th = 2 pts, 4th = 4 pts, 3rd = 6 pts, 2nd = 8 pts, 1st = 10 pts.

The top 5 movies from each round will go through to the knockouts.

In the event of a tie, I will refer to their Metacritic scores.

I know movie genres cross over (Alien could be horror or sci-fi) so feel free to consider that when voting but don't be an idiot and vote Alien as a comedy or musical.

If you have voted, then changed your vote, please quote your original list and then post your new list and let me know by tagging me, otherwise I may miss your vote by accident.

I will try to start each new round on the Monday after a vote round has finished.

At the opening post of each round, I will put in the results from the previous round and start the voting of the current round.

Once we have gone through the 11 rounds, there will be a randomized UCL-style knockouts round (which people asked for last time).

Then we head into the final round with 30 movies on the shortlist.

Then once that voting is done, I will post the top 30 in order from last to first and crown the overall winner.

I know this is probably not the BEST way but I doubt there is a BEST way to do this!

Remember, I have 2 kids and a full time job so there may be times where I miss deadlines or post later than anticipated. Apologies in advance.

I hope this is fun and you guys enjoy it

Not a massive fan of horror. I think jump scares are cheap so I'll go for those that creeped me out more than just went boo.

1. The Shining
2. The Thing
3. Hereditary
4. It Follows
5. The Cabin In The Woods (not the scariest/creepiest but special mention since it's pretty unique)

1. 28 Days Later
2. The Silence of the Lambs
3. Alien
4. The Shining
5. Hereditary

4 - The Shining
5 - Hereditary

1. Alien
2. Get Out
3. The Thing
4. 28 Days Later
5. Train To Busan

Number 5 was difficult to decide on. There are so many enjoyable horror films.

1. Suspiria(1977)
2. Night Of The Living Dead(1968)
3. Halloween
4. Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me
5. Onibaba

1. Alien
2. Ju’on (not the bullshit unnecessary remake)
3. The Exorcist
4. Texas chainsaw massacre
5. The Thing (John Carpenter)

1. The Exorcist
A true masterpiece of horror, only truly appreciated after subsequent watches when you can pick up all the hidden scenes and understand the themes better.

2. The Shining
An amazing journey from sanity to madness, it's captured perfectly and Stephen King is off his head disliking this adaption, it's an incredible film, almost joint-top.

3. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The introduction alone with the generator running in the background is in itself a horror masterpiece. The perfect example of setting a tone of uneasiness. The film is legendary and will always hold up.

4. Evil Dead
Classic horror film, the original shit me up as a kid even though the effects weren't great ( )

5. The Eye (2002 Hong Kong version)
Very spooky and not so well known. Good concept as well. Watch if you haven't seen it.

Did he get you with the white text :wenger: ?
Ringing Kurt right now.

That's a solid list. I was so close to putting all these except Shining on my list. Especially Evil Dead and The Eye.

1. Alien
2. Suspiria (1977)
3. The Thing
4. Rec (2007)
5. Paranormal Activity

I considered leaving out Alien, since it's also the greatest sci-fi movie of all time, but that would be dishonest. It's simply also the greatest horror movie of all time. And I guess The Thing could also go in that category.

Harsh on movies like The Exorcist, The Shining, Night of the Living Dead, Profondo Rosso, 28 Days Later, The Fly, etc. I love all those movies, but choices had to be made.
