I'm certain this will get through. I was going to originally do a final round with the films that narrowly missed going through... But then animation would get left out... Wish I had more time to expand it further.Small hope it gets in with the thrillers. Same as I hope There Will Be Blood gets in with the dramas.
There is too much crossover between crime and thriller to say. Both are listed when you look up the film’s genre. Is Zodiac right for this round? It feels to me like it should go in thriller/mystery

It just shows how competitive this round of films is.So you had six options…. and White Chicks stayed?
Over The Godfather?
Is Fight Club crime? Is American Psycho? If not - which category do these sit in? They cross a few genres.
It also also allows musicals, which is a big genre. I don't really consider it kiddy though with great movies like Akira and Your Name. Why are you attached to having animation as a category? While there are certainly animated films with adult appeal it does feel a little like a Kids category.
Edit: Actually I forgot some like Akira, Ninja Scroll and Ghost in the Shell. I guess it's okay to stay but wish we had some more rounds.
They could go into thriller. All depends how you see it.Is Fight Club crime? Is American Psycho? If not - which category do these sit in? They cross a few genres.
Even if that’s true for people who don’t like family friendly flicks, ‘Superhero‘ didn’t have its own category. There's a lot more quality animated films than there are superhero, for instance.

Hence why I've just bundled musicals in with it. I know some won't be happy but a lot of popular Western animations are essentially musicals and as a genre, I didn't want to leave musicals out as it's a big one... Although I don't expect a single live action musical to be in the top 5.Even if that’s true for people who don’t like family friendly flicks, ‘Superhero‘ didn’t have its own category.
There has been some great animation content, but much of the good stuff is in series not movies. I guess I can think of some anime which is what my list will consist of.
You can stick it in comedy if you want… @Solius is putting City of God thereIs Fight Club crime? Is American Psycho? If not - which category do these sit in? They cross a few genres.
Yeah…. yeah, that’s what it showsIt just shows how competitive this round of films is.
I'd put that squarely under drama. Crime provides a context, but doesn't really play a role in any of the characters' actions.I’m surprised nobody has picked 12 Angry Men yet .
I picked it in a previous round but wouldn't class as crime/noir.I’m surprised nobody has picked 12 Angry Men yet .
LOTR: Fellowship Of The Ring
LOTR: Return Of The King
LOTR: The Two Towers
Avengers: Infinity War
Batman Begins
That’s awful (LOTR movies deserve a place obviously but they're not three single-handedly best movies in the category).
It's really tough to do a crime movies list though, soooo many great movies have to be dropped. Half of De Niro's filmography can get in.
- Pulp Fiction
- Old boy
- The Godfather 2
- Taxi Driver
- Fargo
Well, it didn't make the cut in the action/adventure categoryIf Old boy can fit into this category then surely Ichi the Killer can and all?
@Dirty Schwein had a change of mind1. Godfather
2. Godfather 2
3. Se7en
4. Casino
5. The Italian Job
Iam the same, took a while to settle on mine, then changed my mind on 5th.This category is almost impossible. I want to include about 30 films.
1. Pulp Fiction
2. Reservoir Dogs
3. Goodfellas
4. Godfather PT II
5. Casino
1. Goodfellas
2. True Romance
3. American Gangster
4. Zodiac
5. Ocean's 11 (2001)
Thanks mate. Glad you used someone else's list.
I saw Snatch in a list and though, that must be in my 5.Thanks mate. Glad you used someone else's list.
1. Miami Vice
2. Heat
3. The Long Good Friday
4. Casino
5. Drive
Hence why I loved it. Was between this and Drive I think.Don't get the love for Brick. It feels like a pastiche of every noir cliche but in a high school setting
In Bruges? When you are two pages in and see no one has mentioned Mann best film
In Bruges?
