Onto the next round!

Each Monday, I will set up a new round for the contest.

Each round will represent a different genre of film (I have tried to include all the big genres).

The genres are below (BOLDED IS THE CURRENT ROUND FOR THIS THREAD):

Round 1 - Action & Adventure
Round 2 - War & Western
Round 3 - Fantasy & Superhero
Round 4 - Crime & Noir
Round 5 - Comedy & Romance
Round 6 - Drama
Round 7 - Horror
Round 8 - Sci-Fi
Round 9 - Thriller & Mystery
Round 10 - Animation & Musicals
Round 11 - The Knockout Round
Round 12 - The Finals

For each round, please list your top 5 movies from the genre in list view.

Please do this by Friday 11:59pm GMT (please stick to this as last time people kept voting late and that causes me massive headaches on the weekends).

5th = 2 pts, 4th = 4 pts, 3rd = 6 pts, 2nd = 8 pts, 1st = 10 pts.

The top 5 movies from each round will go through to the knockouts.

In the event of a tie, I will refer to their Metacritic scores.

I know movie genres cross over (Alien could be horror or sci-fi) so feel free to consider that when voting but don't be an idiot and vote Alien as a comedy or musical.

If you have voted, then changed your vote, please quote your original list and then post your new list and let me know by tagging me, otherwise I may miss your vote by accident.

I will try to start each new round on the Monday after a vote round has finished.

At the opening post of each round, I will put in the results from the previous round and start the voting of the current round.

Once we have gone through the 10 rounds, there will be a randomized UCL-style knockouts round (which people asked for last time).

Then we head into the final round with 25 movies on the shortlist.

Then once that voting is done, I will post the top 25 in order from last to first and crown the overall winner.

I know this is probably not the BEST way but I doubt there is a BEST way to do this!

Remember, I have 2 kids and a full time job so there may be times where I miss deadlines or post later than anticipated. Apologies in advance.

I hope this is fun and you guys enjoy it :D

Damn, forgot all about this...

1. Man on Fire
2. Kate
3. The Night Comes For Us
4. Bonnie & Clyde
5. Mission Impossible

This one really needs to be a Top 10.

1. Goodfellas
2. City of God

Will add later on but these two are surefire and should be right near the winners list, the lack of Pan's labyrinth making it out of the last one is a disgrace.

1. The Godfather
2. The Godfather Part II
3. Scarface
4. Chinatown
5. Donnie Brasco

The Dark Knight isn't even on the list! Dark Knight RISES got 18 votes! Feck me.

1. The Godfather
2. Once Upon a Time in America
3. Le Samourai
4. Touch of Evil
5. A Prophet

Yes thank you mate. I have had these lumps on my body for over 12 year and finally got them scanned. Mostly dormant so need to think if I wanna pay a plastic surgeon to remove them.
Ah - sorry for making light of this situation. Hope you’re all good pal.

1. The Godfather
2. Once Upon a Time in America
3. Le Samourai
4. Touch of Evil
5. A Prophet

Thought about putting this on mine but after already having two foreign films on there I thought I might look poncy.

Got some mental films making the cut in the other categories. But I hope the pretensious film lovers will keep persevering.

A Coen bros heavy top 5 for me. Noir / Crime experts.
1. Fargo
2. No country for old men
3. The man who wasn't there
4. Usual suspects
5. Millers crossing

1. Godfather II
2. Godfather
3. Joker
4. Seven
5. Serpico

1-The Godfather
2-Godfather 2
3-Goodfellas
4-Fargo
5-Pulp Fiction

Tough round!

Is this good? I read the script a while back and it was excellent but I heard the film isn't all that.
In my top 3 films of last year easily. I reviewed it a while back. The lobby scene is one of my all-time favourite scenes too. Mary Elizabeth Winstead nails it. Bit like John Wick, but yeah absolutely loved it.

Ok I'll give it a go. You should read the script. It's really well written.

1. Oldboy (2003)
2. History of Violence
3. Memories of Murder
4. Drive
5. Postman Always Rings Twice

So many worthy films here. Some I have to move into other more appropriate categories (Godfather goes into Drama for me as it's the epitome of a top-tier drama and actually not a crime or noir movie and a few others are more thrillers for me like Nightcrawler, Mulholland Drive and I Saw the Devil). I may change as Wild Goose Lake, Way of the Gun, To Live and Die in LA, Double Indemnity, Brick, Coin Locker Girl, and Night in Paradise all deserve a mention here.

It's one of those flashy over-the-top unrealistic action-crime movies. Personally, I don't rate it as I like my crime more gritty noir. For a recent assassin movie, I thought The Virtuoso was definitely a better film but depends what you like.
