Now the game requires more than flicking a stick and running fast, these Ronaldo whores are being exposed for the shit they really are. One I'm playing now just looks to pass to him at every opportunity and I'm owning him every time.

For some reason i become overcome with rage when people say that.

Especially when they spell it with a P!! :mad:
 
Does anybody else play a match, dominate the play, but then fall foul to people who constantly play on the counter-attack, which means they end up scoring and eventually winning?

Couldn't think of a better word to describe how badly he was getting exposed as shit. He got Neville sent off trying to take me down which I still scored in, and when I got 4 - 0 up he quit.

Been caught on the counter-attack once or twice but you've got to be good at it to do it effectively, I think the CA plays a much bigger part in this game which is good as a lot of teams do it in real life.

After quite a while playing be a pro single player, i've decided that i'm at the point where I can play no more. I am pretty much 99 at everything in my 3rd season and scoring 5 goals a game from defensive mid has run out of fun.

Its that 'pass and run on' button that kills it - once your defence are on the back foot against that its very hard to stop it.

I need to improve my shooting as well but I'm slowly getting there. Have only scored a handful of goals around the edge of the box, most tend to go into row Z.

Still I will get better the more I get used to it I guess, the last Fifa I played was 08 but on the PC.
 
I've won 9 in a row now, which puts me at 15-4 (I think) after a shabby start. The guy I just played paused the game, and when it started again a couple of his players were invisible (a midfielder and an attacker), so I would have no way of knowing if either were doing a run. Bug or cheat?

Luckily I was already 2-1 up, and only half an hour left, so I managed to defend it in.

I think I just experienced my first wanker on this game. I was through on goal and about to shoot when he blatantly takes me down, ref gives a fecking yellow and the freekick lead to nothing. Half time I messaged him just saying 'cheat, should've been a red'. So for some reason he starts doing kick-ups with his goalie as if to take the piss for some bizarre reason. It was a close game he ended up winning 1 - 0.

We rematched and I went 1 - 0 up straight away, he got it back to 1 - 1 and then made it 1 - 2 to him. Again he did kick-ups with the goalie and started passing it around his defence really slowly. I eventually got it back to 2 - 2 with a great goal, and then with him trying to be cocky and pass it around, I robbed him and chipped the goalie :drool:
 
I also hate when you batter someone, and they message you something like 'rematch' and if you say no they go 'cos your scared of losing'. What the fudge I just destroyed you, you stupid feck. Memory span of a bloody goldfish.
 
To be fair, if I could take someone down and get a yellow instead of an almost certain goal, I would have. Problem is I tend to get red instead. Sounds like a real dick on the second game, though.

A slight problem with FIFA09 is that, as you mentioned, some tackles that should lead to red only lead to yellow. On the flipside, if you mis-tackle and you accidentally graze another player than the one with the ball, it's straight red.
 
What the.. I thought you said that if someone leaves, you get a 3-0 win (or whatever else it was if higher than that)? I know I've gotten that a couple of times. Now, though, I "lost connection" to someone (coincidentally right after he paused the game).

I'm still connected to Live, so it wasn't a problem on my part. I can't see the game on Recent Games on the Player Hub, though. Does it take any time for it to show up? I was beating him 1-0, and he played like he was very good (he couldn't suss out my funky formation though).

And there my winning streak went away on penalties, 1-1 against someone playing Barcelona too good for my liking. Penalties went on for ages, but now I have to start my streak all over again :(
 
Lets be honest. Fifa be a pro is shit online unless you have the right players with you. As would Pro Evo 2009 as well. I will be online tomorrow on xbox. Im not good but im sure im better than what i have seen. I pass about but everyone else just runs about like wtf. Won 7-2 last match with a hat trick on right wing for Lazio......! Good fun with the right people. Don't care if i score 0 if im with the right people!
 
Okay, now I'm royally pissed off. Half an hour ago, I dropped something on the console while playing FIFA, and it sounded like my disc was being shredded in there. Not quite, but there was a fat rip in it. I tested it out, and it managed to run the game anyway.

Played a nearly perfect online game against Villarreal, 4-0. Literally when the final whistle was blown, I got an error message saying my disc could not be read. Guess what? I forfeited the game, 0-3.

Pissed.

Oh, fair enough. I thought you were more pissed of at forfeiting with the way you ended the post.

Try and get em' to look at the console if possible, although I doubt your drive will be broke but you don't want it happening again.
 
been trying to do that achievement where you create a dwarf and try and score a header with him, closest he got was hitting the post. Think I might create a few more small people so he has more of a chance of heading it.

Can't get the bicycle kick one either as they always head or volley it instead

That was sort of the trigger. I was still hoping that it was just a cosmetic fault, and it worked up until that point.

I think I'll just ask for a new game, and be very careful with the console. Which might be a stretch for me, I always break stuff. Particularly headsets. I've probably had a new headset every couple of months for a few years now. :lol:
 
Holy crap. I just simulated a match between my Valencia side in manager mode and Barcelona. Valencia beat Barcelona 8 - 1 in an away tie. Fernandes with 1, 2 with McGeady, 4 from Villa and then 1 from Mata. Iniesta for Barcelona.

This is two seasons in and my players ratings still arent as high as the normal Manchester United side. Or the Barcelona side for that matter. So this wasnt expected.

Me too.

It says double tap the cross button for a low cross and triple tap for a driven cross and when i try it they end up weak as feck.

Acceleration: 99
Stamina: 99
Finishing: 99
Shot power: 99
Curve: 99

Scoring hatricks every game :D He can dash for ages
