Fifa 2008

Konami have said that they are going to have a complete overhaul of Pro Evo for the ext version as it hasn't really changed since Pro Evo 2

Love Fifa, but it never fecking worked on my 360. 2 different discs as well. Always came up saying dirty disc every hour. Roll on 09.

That happens to me. Happened with 07 and 08. It only happens after the disc has been left in the machine when it's not being used, and only happens the once each time its played. I don't know if it's a common error or what, i bit simply just take the disc out when i finish playing it now.

I'll just get it copied if I get the urge to play it again. Was taking me ages to get used to the balance between semi-pro and pro anyway. From what I remember playing it about 5/6 months ago semi pro was rather easy and Pro was grinding out one nil's constantly, if you were lucky.

May pick it up later.

This happened to my first disc, I returned it got another one and it only happens like once a month or some shit.

Was looking through a UEFA EURO 2008 preview and found....

* Captain Your Country – Play as yourself on the same team with up to three friends, all playing individual positions on the pitch. Compete collaboratively to win games but compete against each other for the captaincy. Develop your player through eight status levels to earn the captaincy of your country and the right to lead your team.

* Create Yourself – Play alongside your heroes by customizing yourself in game. Place your name on your jersey, then earn experience points to enhance your skills and reputation.

Now i think they are really trying to develop the Be A Pro mode found in FIFA 2008 and by adding these features on, i think they are looking to create something that echoes that of the Superstar Mode of the Madden series...which if done well would be amazing.

Anyone else's thoughts ?

Played the demo on the ps3 of this and it wasn't what I was expecting, far too slow as well, is the demo really a lot worse compared to the proper version?

Dunno whether to get it sometime in the future. Little brother got Pro Evo for ps3 but I don't like it, more of a Fifa man myself now!

anyone know when the ea sports uefa champions league 2007-2008 game is out

It's the one non-gameplay improvement i was hoping for in Fifa 09. There's so much potential in the Be A Pro mode. It was decent in Fifa 08, but it was just screaming for a Be A Pro career mode.

I think in Euro 2008 it'll be a half assed effort, so they can keep all the good features for Fifa 09, which is fair enough i suppose. Definitely looks like they are building upto something decent though.

I'm liking the sound of the mode where you can play with your friends on the same time as individual players. It's something me and my amtes have been doing alot with Pro Evo's fixed player mode lately, just to get some more life out of the game.

The beuty of it is that they can try new things in the Euro game like with this years just to get a heads up on what works, what doesn't and what can be improved by the time FIFA 09 is set to be released.

It won't be the full shebang mode that i think we see in Madden games, but even that took a couple years to get right, but if not by FIFA 09 then definatley by 2010 we will see the fully working Be a Pro mode in action.

fecking euro  which twat wants to play as national teams ?

Probably a lot of people, and since when do EA care about who wants to play as who? They will release this cheaply as a tester for what works in the bigger better 09 release, it will probably serve as a buggy unfinished demo for said game and still top sales charts all summer long.

ker-effing-ching.

Mine did the same, chances are 09 will do the same. Mine did it from world cup - 07, it would also scratch the disk... doesnt do it to any other game. I sent the xbox in and i think they replaced the DVD drive.

EA Fifa could do a turd in a case and i would probably buy it :(

What doesnt work about be a pro mode?

I mean in terms of depth. Keep the play as it is at the moment where your performence on the pitch is rated and you are in sole control of just one player, but making it more career based meaning YOU create a player and then progress through their career from youth team to retirement.

Offering players the chance to build up their stats as their careers progress, with all other mini things on the side like buying houses, being pictured falling out of clubs going out with pop star girlfriends, the whole lot or being the hardface professional of the team.

Just to give it that little splice of realism much like the superstar modes of Madden 06, 07, and 08.

Oh yeah i agree, i thought you meant something to do with the gameplay mechanics... can't wait for a career mode. Surely has to come out (as you said before but it flew over my head with Maddens Hall of Fame mode).

They also said by Fifa 2010 they aim to get a fully working 11 vs 11 (probablly 10 vs 10 though, due to keepers) online mode, so they can hold an official Fifa world cup. It's definitely something to look forward to (or it would be if alot of the muppet's online could grasp the basics of football.)

Pro Evo may have alot of catching up to do if future versions are as bad as the latest because the Fifa series only looks like improving at the moment.

I remember hearing that but am sure I read something recently where EA said they were looking at 11v11 online in FIFA 09.

I think this needs to be implemented in order to maximise the potential of the Be A Pro mode.

I love playing online 5v5 and think that it would be great if this mode was developed and your match ratings were tracked.

Would be great if you could create a young player (obviously with limited attributes) and then join a lower league team. You could then play alongside players of a similar standard until you improve and then move up the leagues - signing for better teams - as your player's skills develop.

EA could keep track of each individuals match ratings so you could see where you rank among players who play the same position.

I have noticed that lots of people enjoy playing up front in Be A Pro, but if you could actually specialise in a specific position, then I see no reason why people wouldn't try and master other positions on the pitch. Personally I always choose to play in the centre of midfield as you are more involved.

I love playing in the center of midfield. Being able to dictate the play, its often what you do that makes the difference in winning and losing. As Arsenal i play as Fabregas or dont mind Flamini, United Scholes, Australia Cahill (CF but basically the same role). 11 on 11 would be fantastic. Im sure however people are able to run up their stats so unless its done in a building (to work out the national teams) the best players wont be competing.

Redcaf team for the online world cup anyone ?

Can any of you recommend a good striker to get that will be affordable and will transfer ?

Tore Andre Flo is a beast on this game. His overall stats aren't anything special, but he bangs in 30+ goals a season for me in the Premiership. He's the only Leeds player i haven't sold since i started manager mode in League 1.

Darius Vassell cost me just over a million and Ben Afra cost around £2million. Both brilliant buys.

Hi guys, does anyone know how play a world or European cup as I can’t find them under tournament game mode, there seem to be only domestic competitions.

Also is it possible to select which players come up for set pieces.

You can go into the formations set up and edit your kick takers through that option.

Also, if you just started playing you won't have the CL as an option until you are done with your first season as you haven't qualified for CL as of yet.

Also to everyone on here that owns the 360 version and plays online I started a red cafe league online!

League name: Red Cafe Main
password: SAFisagod

Hope to see a ton of you on there! No one can use United BTW bcuz everyone truly wants to use them, so its not fair.

Cheers, but i don't want to edit the kick takers, instead choose the players that are in the box for a corner for example. When playing as united as default it seems Rio and Vidic just stand outside the box when a corner is being taken and would like to know if there is a option to place them smack in the center of the 6 yard box and maybe keep the full backs on the half way line?
As for the tournaments I meant an international one, there doesn't seem to be a selection with a list of competitions for them i.e World cup, Euros, African Nations etc.

1) where on the internet do i view goals that i've saved?

2) In squad updates, are the abilitys of players modified?

3) i swear Ronaldo now takes his free kick's like he doe's in real life. has this always been the way?
