Find a decent player you can make profit on, i aim for 300 profit per card minimum mass bid on the card before i play a match then put the ones you win up for buy now after the game, i often won about 10 a time so for all intents and purposes i was getting an extra 3 grand in match revenue. Now ive got a top quality competitive squad i can't really be arsed to keep doing it but it's the sole reason i have got Eriksen, VVD, Azpi, Hazard and David Silva right now.
Don't like it how they don't tell you who's the home or away side now on ultimate team.

Top of the Premier League with Norwich in my first season after promotion, with Everton and Crystal Palace leading the chasing pack. Chelsea are 16th, Arsenal are bottom? It was ridiculous. So I took over Macclesfield in League Two and I've won every game so far, I'm top of the league and comfortably ahead of every other team. Both career modes were on "Ultimate" difficulty. It's just another case of figuring out how the other team is going to play while you get used to the new game, and then picking them off in every match after that. As for playing online or doing Ultimate Team? feck playing other people. Might just trade it in.

Its easy to know though. When you load into a game, if you have to wait for it to match you with someone you are the home team, if the matchup is ready as soon as you load in then you are the away team
Yep, trading it in today. I've not enjoyed this series since FIFA 16, to be honest. Maybe it's because the game's getting worse, maybe it's just my age, but I don't have anywhere near as much fun playing this as I used to. Playing against the AI becomes boring after a couple of months and playing online against other people just increases the number of twats I have to interact with on a daily basis. Gonna go get my £25 from CEX and probably bid the franchise goodbye.
Got 800k. Wanna but either an icon or a big name. Any suggestions?
I’d save up for the lowest rated version of Socrates or Best. If not, Neymar?
Surely you can make a bomb on that buying players now and selling once prices recover?
I'd hesitate to buy any of the cheaper icons like scholes/giggs/keane til their price goes back down. Though theyve been super high for a while with the sbc's, but I'd reckon their normal price will be back between 4-500k after the new year probably (for the cheaper versions of them). Getting their prime versions would probably be fine though? Saving the extra bit for Best seems safer since hes one of the elite icons so wont crash as hard as the others. Currently have the 90 version and hes great to use, though hes gone up in price and was 1.2m not too long ago.
Looked at the United legends but yeah they don’t seem worth the 700k. Have you tried RVN?

I had great fun with Giggs and Scholes tbh and can't wait for their price to go down to get them again (along with Keane). Barely played the game since I sold them, just isn't as much fun for me anymore. For RvN only the prime version seems worth it, though he seems over priced.
Do you think prices will recover? I've just packed Kroos, Douglas Costa and Diego Costa and their prices seem minimal.
Yeah I generally don’t think icons are worth the coins this year (unless you have 5 million+ coins, with a few exceptions and thats the two mentioned plus 85 Blanc off the top of my head.
Played my very first WL this weekend and ended up with 17 wins which I’m very happy about. Did a single 82+ SBC while waiting for a friend just now and packed Neymar.. Sick feeling
Maybe just before Christmas I would say would likely be the best time to sell. As you'd expect another massive crash when loads of kids get it for christmas
Yeah I was thinking the same, the prices were done after Christmas last year, the only way they picked up was for icon sbc.

Gone to shit completely. Took 3 weeks off for RDR2 and lost it. My skill rating is now below 1400 when it was close to 2000 in D3 before. I cant build attacks, and cant defend for the life of me. Every game i am 1-0 down within 10 minutes
Its pretty much doomed, they've taken all variety out now. It's have everyone on stay back while attacking, play drop back defence, spam through balls to a forward for a now even more unblockable timed finesse.
I feel the opposite. Since the patch I've been miles better. Been promoted to div 4 and not stopped winning.
I've been doing better results wise too, just not enjoying the fact everyone plays the same. I didn't mind the constant pressers, or the AI guys. I lost games to them I shouldn't but it added variety. I've played 15 games in Div 4 since the patch and they all feel like the same game to me.
I must be getting lucky, every game seems wildly different compared to when I was in div 5 and it was literally AI defending and 3 strikers up the pitch with everyone else dropped back.
Now I seem to play against people that like to build up properly and defend properly now the AI defending has been reduced.
I’ve started playing again, and feck me they haven’t sorted the timed finesse. Every game is my opponent and me just trying to work a timed finesse shot. Literally no point trying anything else
It might be the fact I've played mainly at 3-6 pm and am getting the after school crowd and prime time for input delay. I'll try tonight. I've found very little difference. I defend exactly the same way, just have to be faster to select on CB to block finesse's now. I actually tried 2-3 games of AI only defending and found it was still pretty fine.

Looks like the patch has hit you hard, thats a good team. You probably play too open for the update, also do you use constant pressure?
You are exactly right. Its the last 2 patches combined that i basically got at once. I was definitely playing too open, set the defending depth and width to 1 on both, and have gone back to winning 4/5-0. A shame really, i was enjoying every game being different, but it seems like the PTB tactics are now once again OP.
Also switched out Verdi for Keita Balde IF, and moved Perisic to the right hand side
Yup everyone plays the same now. Its conform or die. Low depth, low width, guard finesse shots with a proverbial army standing on your own 18 yard line and counter.
I sold Alex Sandro, Naingollan, Varane, Aguero and Ter Stegen to get prime Vieri, SIF Mahrez and Fabinho because I packed CL Walker and couldn't work him in the team with Varane and Sandro.

Given Hazard is worth about 800k, and Potm Lucas about 40k my squad is now worth over 5m coins. Easily the highest I've had in the two years I've being playing FUT. My biggest issue is 9 of my starting XI are untradable and so is my entire bench. I'm kind of locked into sticking with Icon's. Telles and Marhez are the only 2 ripe for upgrading and I don't mind using Casemiro in an SBC for a better CDM. Wish I'd done Makelele tbh...

That’s not too bad. Not sure about Verdi (could be decent with a Finisher chem style) and Immobile who is, pun intended, a very immobile player. Would definitely have someone quicker and more agile up front, unless you mainly rely on crossing? Do you play on constant pressure? It has been nerfed by the lasest patch to the extent that it’s now unusable unless pushing for a late goal.
Verdi I swapped out for Balde Keita, I dont rely on crosses as such, but i find that as an overall striker Immobile is amazing. Just under a goal a game ratio with him, pretty much juat get him near the goal and he scores. I agree he could use a bit more pace, but with a hunter chem he is good enough.
I was using your cts from earlier in the thread, switched it up now to really deep narrow defense that presses heavy touch, and tbats getting the job done tbh. Back up to 1650 skill points
Nice. I’m really struggling with the game after the latest patch so my tactics are probably very outdated. Need to do a lot of experimenting again. So annoying that as soon as I find something that works for me which takes a lot of trying and failing they patch the stupid game and it’s back to square one.
I got 89 Eriksen
first decent pack pull for me this year. Considering how I’ve played in every weekend league except for two (worst finish has been Gold 1) and finished in rank 3 or higher in every div rivals except for one it’s quite unbelievable how my team is only worth around a million coins. Haven’t wasted anything on untradables either except for POTM Lucas which was only 50k and definitely worth it. I’ve also done every SBC that has been in my opinion worth doing, so in total I’ve opened shitloads of packs and gotten nothing except for my red Eriksen. Second best is red Robertson. Most valuable tradable has been Nainggolan at around 75k. Second most valuable was Kroos at around 40k IIRC. The RNG hates me this year.
