Gaming FIFA 19

Anyone else finding this as hard as me? I was gold 1 / elite 3 last year and this year I can't even get beyond the first draft game
Is the game live now? I thought it was released next thursday/friday with 3 days early access for pre orders.

Got Ultimate Edition (already feel dirty). Any advice on when to open my packs (I thin 40 free jumbo ones)? Does it actually matter? Haven't played FIFA in a while but this is the only extra money I'll put into it and I don't want to fall staraight away behind the sad losers that actually but FIFA points (you realise that FIFA 20 is put next year and you'll have to do it all again?). Is it possible to at least be competitive with only coins while just getting good at the game, while my Darmian is double marking Alba and Ronaldo?

Edit: so any drunken spelling mistakes, stay in school kids.

You get 2 a week, I usually open them as I get them but might save them for TOTY this year

That's what I don't understand. I'm fine with starting with shite players if I can hold onto the packs to get the best possible reward. Honestly I gave up on FIFA because I was sick of losing to people that I could honestly at least draw with on a similar player footing (played Seasons for ages but I love the building a team aspect). Ultimate team would be an incredible game mode if only coins won in game were allowed. Would you mind telling me if there are particular times of the season to buy/open packs?

There are special events ran throughout the year;

Movember - Some players with moustaches get a boosted card.

Halloween - Boosted cards will be released

TOTY - Just after the team of the year has been announced in real life, cards are all usually 90+ rated

TOTS - End of the season boosted cards

OTW - Last year they had One To Watch cards. Think it was mainly young high potential players, the rating would change to match their latest team of the week throughout the season.

Yes it is possible. My brother is better at the game and better at trading than me and easily competes and we've never spent a dime. My brother has made over $1,000 at least over the years even, while I've made a few hundred. If you want to compete you'll need to trade. I haven't done the last couple of years so don't know about the icons but through trading and playing we got Ronaldo and ToTY/S players and all of that so there is really no need to be playing with Darmian. Trading doesn't need to be that time consuming either, just regularly go on the app to relist the players is all.

What sort of tips would you give for trading? I've played for years and just basically rely on match coins and rewards to get better players.

They need to make an adjustment to the game plans. At the moment all the positions reset to whatever you kicked off with whenever you use the sliders to go attacking/defensive etc.

I had a player sent off earlier so brought my AM off for a CB and shifted him back. Used the slider to go defensive when I came off the menu and ended up with my CB at AM and a big gaping hole.

Also changed my formation once I built my squad, and now every single time I go attacking it reverts back to the formation I chose when I first started the game.

Aye but then I shift to some 2nd division Spanish, Italian, German team and work my way through the leagues just buying youth and scouting wonderkids.

Side note I’d win the quad with any team as the computer is rubbish even on pro mode.

Most fun career mode I ever had: Started off at LA galaxy and won the league, then got hired by a championship club, got them promoted, then eventually league and CL, then started hopping around the top clubs in Europe. Definitely going to have a journey like that this year again

I worked away for 9 months and I couldn't connect my Xbox to the internet their. I played a career with Oldham in league 1 and ended up with Neymar, Ronaldo, Pogba etc. Was probably my favourite manager career mode.

The best career modes are where you make your own player though, definitely looking forward to doing one of those again once they have finished the journey and add in all that stuff with a custom made player.

I did the player career a lot when I was younger, living the dream of being a footballer  Nowadays I prefer signing the wonderkids from all over world football and playing them until they get better. The most fun manager modes are always with weaker teams, when you play with the top clubs it gets boring really quickly.

I'd say non-rare gold cards. Last year I was buying Nathan Redmond for 600-700 and selling for 1-1.2k. Use the web app and try pick them up during the less busy hours and then put them on at night. It's really time consuming but if you can make enough money, it'll allow you to do all the SBCs for free which you might pack well in, I packed the first TOTW de Bruyne last year on the advanced.

Use the fifa forums and see who they think will be on the MM and stock pile on their players, like last year they did the Vienna derby, I bought some of their non rare silver's for 200 and sold for 800 coins.

Also, the long term gain is when they start releasing leagues, look for players that there's not a lot of on the market and try and get them for a good enough price, the night the league's are released their prices can go up 5/6 fold, some go for as much as 4k, it's just trying to read the market basically.

tl;dr buy non-rare golds in non-peak time and sell in peak time

As well as what pascell says. Take his Redmond for example. What I do is find a card you can consistently get profit. So just look and find a player like Redmond. You buy during low periods and then sell for a couple hundred more. Then do this on mass. That's a starting tactic to build up some initial coin.

Once you have more coins you can move onto bigger fish. If you want long term trading then you can buy discard IFs. Once they are out of packs they go up. Put them up at 18-20k or so and after a few weeks they'll sell. Don't panic sell. Buy 20 of them for example, sell even 1 a day and that's big profit. Then reinvest in the new totw.

EA Origin Access has given me it early.

First time playing FIFA since they brought in Ultimate Team. So yeah been a while.

I played a bit of it with 18 but that was just last month to familiarise myself with the game.
Not expecting to spend tons of time on it but I'll use this version as a learning experience but focus mainly on career.

The weekly packs don't stack.

I decided to do a career mode with Leicester City on 18 until 19 comes out.

It's probably been the most fun one I've done, even though I've not won the league with them. 4 seasons in, have won the League Cup and the Europa League 1x each. Have finished top 5 each time in the league.

What do you mean, if I get the packs but don't open them surely I'll get another 2 the week later?
Pretty sure you have to actually redeem them once a week. You can't wait a month and have 8 packs waiting for you

I'll try and give it a go and see what happens

Holy shit is it true that some spend thousands on this game?

It's more prominent than you likely think. This article came out over the summer but it didn't seem to put a dent in the EA hype machine. It's pretty insane, but it just goes to show that these loot boxes and UT systems are straight up gambling, and that they prey upon the very people who have addictive personalities but don't go to the casino, etc.

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/...-over-usd10-000-in-two-years-on-ultimate-team

EA also provided data relating to how much real world money (in dollars) Michael had spent on FIFA Points, and he told Eurogamer he was "gobsmacked" to discover he'd spent over $10,000 in just two years.

"Upon reflection, the figure EA stated would be correct," he told Eurogamer. "Special events such as Black Friday, TOTY, FUT Birthday, TOTS, Futties, etc, I would have thrown in thousands upon thousands of FIFA Points without even a second thought.

Michael may have even spent more money on FUT than he thinks. EA's spending data for Michael, which he has not published to Imgur but has shown Eurogamer, shows two figures for the amount spent, each relating to two different periods. One figure is $6144 spent between 2nd November 2016 and 29th August 2017, the other $10,010, spent between 25th September 2017 and 21st May 2018. In total, this would mean Michael has spent $16,154 over two years, not just over $10,010 as Michael first thought.

I have no shame.

Going to open more packs later and sell off players to try to get CR7 ASAP.

Where's the cheapest place to find the Champions' edition?

How's the AI this year?

Haven't bought FIFA for a few years. I don't enjoy Ultimate Team, only reason I would get the game is if Career Mode is viable. I played a bit of FIFA 17, Legendary difficulty was quite hard to beat but for the wrong reasons. They just have stupidly accurate shooting and passing, while still being predictable and dull.

You're making actual money off FIFA?

You're making actual money off FIFA?
Yes. I didn't do last year though and its getting a lot harder with them cracking down on it and banning all coin seller and buyers. Also means a lot of the buyers of coins are shutting down too. I'll give it a try this year and see if its worthwhile. It is the only reason I'd buy FIFA these days.

Sound for the great advice guys! Unfortunately we could all have a great time if it wasn't for the likes of @Eddy_JukeZ :p. Don't worry my Darmian will be more than enough for Mane . Also Auba is 87? Is Rooney still 89 or so then?

How do you buy and sell coins on the PS4? Does that not mean selling your psn?

Yes you can sell your psn, so obviously don't do it on your main account. Or just transfer the coins by buying a player off the person buying the coins from you. But they ban accounts now for irregular purchases so selling gets your account banned, so I wouldn't do that on your main psn account either. My buyers don't seem to be in the market anymore since EAs crackdown though so I'll find out this year how hard it is to sell because I was too lazy to bother last year and now I have to find a new place to sell.

Am I stupid or would eliminating FIFA points and making UT game coins based not make it a much fairer game mode. The best FIFA players get to the top quicker because they are actually good at the game and the likes of Messi would never be overpriced because no one would ever have that amount of coins to spend so there would be no demand at high prices. It could be an incredible game mode or have I overlooked anything?

EA couldn't make money that way

I actually really like the game this year (Until they update and completely break the game again, im a fool i know!). Especially Division Rivals and the reward based system is really good. Also another way of qualifying for Champions weekend league in what ever division is a nice addition. In my ea (ermm extended) access managed to get rank 1 and make 107k in match earnings.

This grew on me really quickly. Almost completely brushed PES aside already and just want to play Career. The AI attack is really refreshing.

Why you have to say this?! I was ready to not buy it

Even if the AI has been improved, career mode is still completely broken going by last year. The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, United and City will finish mid table, while Burnley and West Ham finish top four. The result algorithms are completely broken and I don’t expect it to change. Not sure if the last career mode that offered a realistic title race.

EA could at least get that right, but they’re honestly a poisonous turd of a company.

How did you get extended access

There’s just a lot more variation in each game compared to previous years.

You even have players running at you and throwing in stepovers which is a breath of fresh air.

Would have been nice to have some new things in career mode to freshen it up but enjoying it either way

How did you get extended access

There was a glitch that when you quit the game and loaded it again it loaded as full game and not ea access version. Had like 4 days use of my 10 hours. Stupid ea + microsoft at its finest. Logged me out last night saying trial expired tho :(
