You should definitely do it! Having Ronaldo and Messi in attack makes everything so much easier, and you can affort a good team around them too.

Hmm, I might replace Murillo with Gimenez. Only problem is, I press very high and get lots of counter-attacks against me. Having defenders with less than 75 pace makes it very difficult, though I’m not very happy with Murillo.

How many players do you have at the back? I play 3 at the back.. but usually with attacking mentality, quite high line and play him centrally, and he rarely lets me down or outpaced - as his positioning ensures, he's never getting in a foot race unless I do something dafe myself. I'm just a noob though so not very good at the moment, but can imagine he'd be great in more experienced hands.

If you're good at the game, the best way is definitely to spend in on online FUT Draft. It costs 300 fifa points and you can get 35k/50k packs if you're lucky and win 4 games in a row. It's also good fun.
You talking about Varane? I play 4 at the back and it’s essential for me to have defenders who don’t get beaten in foot races since most of the goals I concede are counter attacks. Played two games with him and he was just perfect.
Good choice, I had him a while back (packed him again) and he's amazing when doing a one-two and getting him into the box.
Gimenez wouldn't be a bad stop gap, I've used Varane and found him a bit clunky.
Apparently futmas is coming so all 83+ rated players prices will rise again? I'm not sure what they do at futmas as I didn't do it last year.

No idea about futmas. I don't really track the market these days as I don't do any trading.
I've got Varane, Umtiti and Navas and they are surprisingly good. I thought the difference between them and my previous trio Courtois, Azpilicueta and Bailly would be huge but it actually isn't. Though my sidebacks Gaya and Semedo are awful compared to Alba and Valencia. I also switched from Kovacic to Paulinho and although he does ok as a stop gap midfielder, he's nowhere near the level of Matic, so my midfield struggles a bit. Can't wait to get enough coins to chuck in Matic or someone better. Need to make a hybrid as the midfielders in La Liga aren't well suited to my team.

No Gimenez. Varane I would assume can play any team due to being so complete.
You go through an 18 man squad, choosing one out of 5 players for each position. Of course you have to take into account chemistry etc.
You then play up to 4 games in a knockout tournament kind of setup. Your rewards are poor if you lose the first game, but increase in value at 1 win, 2 wins etc. until 4 wins which is the maximum. I've explained it pretty poorly but its 100% what I would spend spare FIFA points on, infinitely better value than straight up buying packs imo.

The full backs are what let me down also, that's why I reverted back to a PL team. Carvajal is quite cheap but isn't a shade on Aurier imo, even though he's rated higher.
I'm not sure as I never use points, there's never a right or wrong time to buy packs though, maybe wait for promo ones around Xmas. Other than that maybe do a draft with them like someone recommended, if you win it you'll get 3/4 packs instead of buying 1 with points.
Guys how important is this chemistry stuff.. does it have a really tangible effect on the gameplay? Noticed most of you have league specific sides, but I couldn't be bothered doing that to begin with but not sure now..
No one plays with less than 100 chem really. Individually some will have players on 6 or 7 Chem (say a RF at ST) but I think even that makes a big difference.
I’d rather a team of 80 rated players at 100 chem than a team of 85 rated players at say 50 or 60

I hate chemistry. The whole thing is dumb, you'd think UT is a chance to go wild with players from all different teams and leagues.
Look at the chemical styles. In game attributes are effected by the chemical style you put on the players, and the amount of chemistry you have. For example a shadow style boosts pace and defence by +10/15 each if the player is on 10 chemistry. It increases it by less if they're on less than 10 chem - 4 chem is base chem.
Hybrid teams are from different leagues usually using nation links or strong/perfect links so youre allowed a dead link or 2 to certain players.
Without a proper chemistry your team will look like some individuals playing on each own with zero link between them, and your hope will be to have a player that can dribble past players on his own. It's that important.
That Ben Yedder card will be quite cheap and looks quality.
@Macern Giminez is quality and a cheap alternative to Varane although he doesn’t take long to save up for either.
The problems are definitely the full backs. Any strong and quick winger will take them apart. Carvajal is slow and strong, Semedo is fast but weak. Need Semedo to get an inform really for that league to be viable at the very top.

I think at 7chem a player will just about perform at its’ registered attributes. Anything below and it starts dropping quite significantly I.e. their off-ball movement, can feel like navigating a boat at sea when on the ball sometimes etc

Same here. Was going to give it a good go this weekend, shame. And yeah I play with 41212 and found myself playing much better once I'd told the fullbacks to get forward. It means there's always a pass on and you can up the tempo a lot more. Attacks can fizzle out if you don't have that, and you just hang onto the ball for too long and get tackled.
