Ah, this is the first time ever I've seen this. I knew that there was something like this in FUT, but I never knew that this also existed outside of FUT. It's shocking to see this. I don't understand why they would do this outside of FUT.

I've lost interest in this game so much after playing NBA 2k16 like an addict for the past two months. Turning this on I realize how far behind NBA it is in every single aspect, it's unreal.

Am i the only one having issues playing online these past few days?

The game takes forever to connect to the server and then says there 0 players online.

FIFA _16 for 22 sheets?
I didn't get a football game this year, just couldn't be arsed, too slow and sim'y. Not fun, been bored for a couple of years.

Same here, first time I've not bought a footie game in about 20 years. Switched from Pro Evo about 4 years ago to Fifa but they've all just gone a bit boring for me. Maybe it's because I'm getting old...who knows!

I guess it's worth it. Manager Mode has improved over last year, slightly. Annoyance awaits you still, though. Despite what I've said, it's good.

I only ever played it online, I find it a bit soulless playing it against the pootah.

You'll get annoyed like every FIFA player does, worth it though for when the game decides to kick your opponent in the balls rather than you.

Currently £22 on the Playstation store and you get the first Plants vs Zombies for free. Is it worth it?

It is worth it, especially if you play with friends. You'll get to play plenty of games before you realize it's got a lot of problems and you start hating the game.

Yeah, this is quite true.

The FUT draft is a nice addition to the game if FUT interests you in anyway. Albeit typical EA that you only get one free entry. A way around that is to make a new account. A bit of effort but could be worth it if you get lucky in the packs you receive at the end of the FUT Draft tournament. I got James Rodriguez once by doing it.

How far have you lot got on Seasons? I've been stuck at since forever. Can't imagine how good people in Division 1 must be

It really is a great way to improve your game though, I've added so many things with dribbling, first touch, keeping possession and chipped through balls by watching other players play online and learning. Before, I'd just go jumping into tackles and race towards the opposition goal.

I still haven't played this due to being a poor backpacker and it kills me inside every day.

Division 4 atm, I do however start testing new teams as soon as I get enough points to stay in the division. But yeah it seems more difficult this year for some reason.

Well, like the massive fecking dickhead that I am, I bought this. Saw there was only a couple of days before it went back to full price and thought I'd go against my better judgement and give it a go.
I had very low expectations but still I'm disappointed.
How is it possible for the opposition to recover quicker from getting tackled than I can from being passed to?
Utter fecking dogshit.
I'm an idiot for buying this. I'll now go through months of enduring rather than enjoying my gaming.
Fml.

This game is far more difficult than '15 IMO. Although this is the first time I've played FIFA on an Xbox since like '03, I can't get into the swing of it. I've played out 3 draws so far; 0-0, 1-1 and 1-1 and was out shot in the first 2 (vs Spurs) and managed the same number in the last (vs Villa). I'm gonna tinker with tactics some more but they don't seem to be doing much.

Is this against the computer or another player?

Anyone plays this on manual in PS4? It's terribly hard to find a game in seasons compared to FIFA 15 in the PS3, they're really killing this game mode. I'm always up for some manual friendlies if you want.

Oh computer. If I can't at least beat the computer regularly on World Class, I'll stand no chance online. I tend to play for Career Mode anyway.
Online is easier, world class tend to keep the ball around the back, it's so frustrating but online you'll be okay as your opponent will play risky and you'll be able to get the ball back easier. Also, legendary is easier than world class this year!

I've really been turned off Fifa this year - I'm comfortably playing at, at least, seasons level 3 on FUT and seasons mode but I find the games a chore. It's so defensive and tactical - defenders get a HUGE edge; people can go to ground in a slide tackle and be on their feet making another tackle quicker than an attacker can control a pass.

Aerial balls are almost always won by the defending team and the power control/direction of passes/through balls is, seemingly, totally random. Matchmaking settings have been tightened so much that, after a point, you only ever play in games where you're grinding out results (rather than experiencing a spectrum) and pot shots and speculative long, diagonal balls seem to an infinitely higher rate of success than a simple, 5 yard, pass.

I play every game in "ultra-attacking" mode just to try and open things up a little bit.

I'm not getting beaten any more frequently than normal - I'm just not enjoying the experience.

As a side note, playing against AI is especially bad - I didn't pay my money to watch AI pass the ball across their defense for the majority of each game. I know that a piece of software that can respond to my every input can keep me from gaining possession - I want it to entertain me, not bore me.

Oh it's one of those? I recall PES doing that one year and it took everyone ages to figure out why they were running game on Superstar . I'll give that a look tomorrow. I did get my first W today. It was Newcastle, granted but after altering tactics and the formation, I performed far better.

Well I was gonna come here and say is figured it out and broken the game. High pressure + high aggression + ultra attacking. The AI can't deal with it. Then the second half started and my midfield basically disappeared. Ended a draw.

Im playing 4231 and 4231(2) on balanced in FUT, two fairly solid or even defensive formations and I have little trouble getting forward. You have to know when to be patient with your passing and at times dribbling/skilling helps a lot, but if you know what you're doing then it isn't that hard to consistently create chances.
Through balls sometimes get far too long, otherwise passing is about as precise as every year, you just have to make sure your player is facing your desired destination before you press the button.

What bothers me most is that keepers have insane reflexes from close range but are quite likely to let long shots past them.
Crosses seem utterly useless most of the time, but I don't mind that because it forces people to do more than just pacing down the wing and whipping it in.
And the refs are a bit dodgy, if you're not careful you can easily give away a penalty without even pressing the tackle button and on the other hand tackles that would've been clear red cards in past FIFAs often get a yellow at best.

World class is so annoying on career mode. One time I'll struggle with a 1-0 with 33% ball possession and them just keeping it, it's really hard to get the ball so just play all out attack, next time I beat them 6-0 scoring exactly the same goals. Going to try legendary I suppose.

With respect, I think this part is nonsense and is the same rhetoric I've seen posted on numerous message boards by numerous people who must be playing a different game to me. I can't remember the last time I came up against anybody who patiently knocked the ball around waiting for an opening, let alone had success with it [I wouldn't mind seeing some game footage of this done against a competent opponent]. Almost everybody knocks it into the wings to let their pacy wingers chase it down; as you say crossing is relatively ineffective, but cutting across the 18-yard box with a winger dribbling is the new cross.

The rest of your post has merit. I don't know what you consider to be a consistent number of chances - my pass completion % averages are usually pretty high - I tend to out-shoot my opponent and usually with more accuracy. I often have more of the ball as well. I'm not necessarily saying the game is any harder than normal - it just feels like more of a grind - less fun. I find games are won by mistakes (missing the tackle you've made 5 times already on the winger trying to cut inside, for example) than by a satisfying piece of skill - like a killer through-ball (I still think through-ball weighting is as random as it has ever been). Maybe I just got older.

I don't understand manual, I mean moving the stick millimetres determines whether the ball goes in or not, or a pass is successful or not. Bloody hard stuff. Quick shots must be extremely difficult!

Why does the game speed keep fluctuating on Seasons? Last night I was able to go on a 7 game unbeaten streak in Seasons because I like to pass the ball around to create openings.

Today I can't seem to create a single chance because the passes seem to be so fecking sloooooooooooow.

I'm not very good at dribbling... the most I can do is create a bit of space to get a cross in or cut inside to get a shot/pass away, so the slow speed absolutely makes it impossible to create decent chances. I end up losing 3 or 4 nil to these guys who dribble like Messi on steroids with every half-decent player.

On another note, the goalkeepers are absolutely awful in this game. The number of times even Neuer has just deflected the ball into his own goal trying to save a close range shoot is ridiculous.

This game is so poorly programmed. I only play it a few times a month with some mates, doing offline custom tournaments. All the players are knackered in those tournies, there's a hamstring injury every game. Sometimes when you try to select sides during a match it simply won't allow it. You take one controller out, put in another one but the AI takes over instead.

Many goals come from a set piece from around the half way line with a player heading it in close to the edge of the box. Reminds me of one of the older FIFA games, think it was 2003, where getting a free kick 35m+ away from goal was the best way to score a goal.

Glad it's not just me. Does anyone think they'll try and re-inject the "fun" into it for next season?

Well the majority of people you are meeting online just keep repeating what they think is the easiest way/abuse, so it's not surprising that you don't see a lot of patient players online.
But to be honest I'm not talking about playing tiki taka either,it just really helps a lot if you know when to play fast, direct and when it's better to step on the break just for short moment and let spaces/gaps open up. Be it that you play a sideways or even backwards pass or that you literally stand still for a moment while the over aggressive opponent rushes towards your player.

If you're playing focused 3 or 4 players can be enough to create chances, at times even my balanced 4231s seem a bit suicidal, because DMs and FBs just keep pushing forward if the attack goes on for long enough. So if I read that in div3 attacking is barely posible even on ultra attacking, then you must be doing something wrong and judging by what I experienced myself that's usually because people most of the time only see the shortest route to the goal.

And tbh I don't think stats matter that much at all.
I usually only shoot if they think it's a safe goal and most opponents tend to take silly long shots, hoping that the game will gift them a goal, so quite often the shots taken stat doesn't reflect the run of the match at all.

It'S a bit similar for passing. My pass success and possession stat depend heavily on the opponent. If I play a defensive guy then they are usually high, because I have to try to work my way into the box, but against someone who plays attacking or way too direct you often have so much space that risky passes are a good option and thus your suc pass% and possession% are lower even though you're doing well.

So much typical EAness going on as per.

Something that would be fairly simple to improve would be atmosphere in the stadium. Louder crowds for big games or games with lots of attacking, and more reactive to what's happening on the pitch. The only time I've it heard it get loud is when Celtic sing 'you'll never walk alone'.

They can't even get the rules right - ref blowing his whistle when someone's injured.

In career mode, being forced to change your players in the squad bit when someone's banned, when it would make much more sense to change them in the pre-game screen that doesn't save them out of the team.

If I'm not completely mistaken the crowd reacts when you string together enough passes, like cheering in a mocking way. Not sure if it'S related to the score line or trick passes though, since I barely pay attention to it. And iirc they actually implemented real life fan chants for some clubs.

Obviously it can always be better, but I think the presentation is the least of the game's problems and tbh when playing alone I often turn off the sound anyway.

They did add the passing 'wheyyy' thing. They need to up the atmosphere for big games though. And react better to attacking. It might not affect how the game plays but would make it more enjoyable in my opinion. Like any form of entertainment, the sounds play a reasonable part.

But yeah, there's plenty of things that need fixing too.

I play manual, so does @Big-Red who I enjoy beating

Oh right, I've played with both of you in the past, you were always better than me and probably still are. My new PSN is Azorean9 as I lost my old account. I'll add you later.
