To establish my point of view: I only play regular online seasons and a bit of Pro Clubs. My '15 record ended up around 240-60-60 (never used R. Madrid, faced them 80% of the time). Not showing off, just sort of pre-arguing that I'm not a noob.
'16 has definitely been rough.
'15 wasn't perfect by any means, but I remember it was very instinctive when I picked it up on the PS4 actually coming from WC14 on the PS3 earlier this year. Basically attacking worked, maybe too much, but it was sharp and you got used to it. Passing with good passers was sharp, dribbling with good dribblers was too. My game was my usual pass-pass-pass, cut insides with a fast winger, get it into dangerous positions, get that final ball be it cross, dribble or pass and score. Breaking down 5 at the back was sometimes hard, but I felt very confident in my ability to keep the ball and eventually score. That has been the same since pretty much '09. Most of any frustration was in defending, or actually not managing to vs. some of the cheesy stuff (C. Ronaldo/Bale pace in 15, headers in 14, lobbed through balls in 13, etc.)
Looking at my record so far in '16 it looks almost on par: 31-11-10. But that doesn't tell the story of how frustrating its been. The attacking sharpness is simply gone. Passing is a mix of short passes too weak, defenders that all read like Sergio Busquets, through balls that are too long, and sometimes a pass aimed at someone completely wrong. Lobbed through balls I just have to convince my brain that they should never ever be attempted, attackers wait for crosses at the edge of the 6-yd box so the keepers always get them, and making a great cut on the dribble (like a perfectly timed Ronaldo chop cutting inside) just means that the defender will almost ignore momentum and be back on you 1 touch later. The number of viable ways to create space and chances has been cut down. I can barely remember how I'm scoring the goals, probably off of opponent mistakes, counter-attacks from corners, and sometimes managing to create an ocean of space with passing.
Overall a bit of the enjoyment is gone. I haven't recorded a single goal or build-up play of mine yet, and with '15 I had recorded 5 within the first week or so of play. What I feel worse about is the crossing, dribbling and smart through balls being cut down so much, and as a result there's little diversity in how to score.
