Gaming FIFA 16

Are you guys playing with passing on semi? I've tried both and on assisted it's just as easy as its always been, while on semi it's quite difficult.

I've been playing on semi in offline but it's impossible to find online game with anything but assisted. It's getting better though and I found a game on manual in the morning today. Offline I'm playing only on manual now, much more difficult but very rewarding.

I forgot how big our squad was. Disabled the first window but in January I could shift quite a few players.

We have a lot of players that we can put on the training system too but I'm sticking with Lukaku, stones, Barkley, deulofeu and Besic at the moment.

Still getting used to this. Trounced Milan 3-0 and then couldn't do anything against Gladbach and lost on penalties in the friendly final.

One on ones and penalties are quite tough on this. I've missed a lot.

Fwiw I think the passing is great but frustrating. That's how I feel when I watch Everton so they're found a good job.

I pre-ordered from Amazon, which included £10 worth of gold packs, over 10 weeks I think. I've had the code emailed to me and I've redeemed it in the PS Store. Where do I find my first pack? Or will it give me coins or something?

I wondered that too - never pre ordered before - how do we get our weekly 'free' packs?

Losing to PSV on career mode and in the 90th minute the feckers took the ball in to the corner and managed to waste no end of time.

So yeah the AI can do that this year.

They did that in 15 too. In one hilarious moment last year, I was winning 1-0 against Spurs, and Chadli took it into the corner and started time wasting for me. It was great.

It's all well and good until you play Wigan and they're tapping it about like Barca.

I am having a nightmare against the AI this year. I can't get the ball of the feckers and when I finally do get it I just give it straight back. And this is only on professional difficulty.

It's not broken. Stop playing blind passes, face the man you want to pass to and play with the correct power. Use the heavy pass (RB + A for Xbox) if needed.

I'm not playing blind passes. I'm also a very good manual player, power is not the issue. It is just awful.

my copy is due today at some point. Amazon fecked up and I didnt receive it on release day. What can I expect from this years copy lads? any good?

For the most part I am enjoying this game to be honest. I doesn't have the pick up and play fun that PES has, I feel there is more of a learning curve to FIFA. The first two games I was frustrated but now I am adapting well to it. Love playing through balls into space and getting players onto them, love that you can't burn defenders every single time on the wings because that is simply not realistic. Feel more rewarded for goals now, have to work to get them. String passes together and create the opportunity.

My big gripe so far? The AI rockets the ball into the top corner far too much. For people playing online thats not a big thing really but for me as an offline player its a pain in the hole. I have just bust my balls creating a lovely goal, feeling good about it, then the AI rifles the ball into the top corner. Doesn't happen all the time but happens far too much, played about 6 career games now and it has happened in 3 of them.

Is the heavy pass and the small bounce only introduced? Really loving them so far. I must say for my cruifixion of the game earlier, it's much better suited to playmaker players than those bloody speed merchants.

Passing is entirely different from what I'm used to. I've yet to be burned for speed like on 14 and I've faced Bale, Ronaldo, Messi etc. Although admittedly I haven't faced the FIFA god himself, Doumbia. It seems to be a lot slower and controlled than in previous years which was a little bit arcadey.

well that sounds good from where Im sitting. And bonus it just this second turned up :) Im off to play haha

It's completely ridiculous how expensive everything is on PC. Can't even put together a decent squad from the russian league for my fitness team without spending 40-50k.

Started career mode with United; turned transfers off for the first window. Won the friendly tournament (losing against New York but beating Juventus and Inter); played 3 PL games that finished exactly the same (with different scorers); 1-0 against Spurs and Villa; 0-0 against Newcastle. (No it wasn't intended).

My thoughts so far:

Pluses:

Through balls are hard to pull off - which is good. Depay made a run into space and I played a fully powered through ball to him, thinking it'll pass into space like the old Fifas- instead it went right out of play. This is fair and makes you control your passes more.

Passing is much harder; it's easy to pass it around (I've had 60+ possession for almost every game) to an unmarked player. Interceptions are high yes, but that occurs against the computer too (on world class).

Awful first touches for both the player and cpu.

Awful refereeing- just like the premier league.

Very hard to create chances - especially with United. However, good chances usually end up being goals (shooting is muh more precise compared to 15)

Volleys are delightful.

Negatives:

Buggy ai. Twice now, the cpu keeper has rushed out for no reason at all. Completely took me by surprise so I wasn't able to take advantage of it.

When you make a pass through the midfield to your target man who stands there while the defender gets in front and intercepts.

Still no diving. Would have been great as there is an immense amount of shirt pulling in the game.

Getting rid of the close control dribbling for the no touch dribbling (which I have no idea how to use). No trainings that teach you either.

4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 are the best formations in this game for me. The former for possession and the latter for flexibility.

It's ridiculous really... I've been managing to sell Cameron fecking Jerome for 3600. And he's just a normal 75 rated player. Madness.

Been playing this for 4 days now and the more I play this, the more I really, really like it. I think EA have produced the best FIFA in quite a few years here.

Loving the slow build up, attempting to control the game. At last, games are won and lost in midfield, like they should be.

The CPU finally rewards you with patience in attack and defence.

Defending is actually quite enjoyable now, getting rewarded for getting your players in the correct positions; cutting off passing lanes, usually leads to interceptions - CPU seems to lock to the ball better than ever before. You will often be punished diving into challenges (however sliding tackles are still far too accurate), you need to square up your man, especially if they have good dribbling attributes, and wait for the right time to pounce for the ball, instead of the previous several years, where jockeying (holding A) just leads into really accurate tackles.

Crossing is still all over the place though. It may just be a case of needing to get used to the mechanism, but it's near bloody impossible to get it on the head of your striker. 50% of my crosses tend to go behind for a goal kick. What I do like about the crossing this year, you have to cross at the correct time to meet your attackers running into the box, if you cross too late, the player's velocity from the run has leads to them passing the target, the ball will go behind them, and being unable to recover.

I want their to be more skill involved in crossing and meeting the target in the box, not just a random equation for perfect crosses. It totally discourages players to use wingers to run down the sidelines, it makes the game too predictable, as 95% of players cut inside with their wide players.

I really hope they just keep the game as it is - no patches to fix the gameplay. Unless they plan to do something about the GK AI, but that's something FIFA just seem totally incapable of getting right - they fix one thing, then break another.

Gameplay is 8/10 so for me so far. That is quite the achievement as I would have marked FIFA 15 2/10 for gameplay, that's me being generous.

That's good to hear. I rate FIFA 15 gameplay very very low too, one of the worst football game I've ever played. If FIFA 16 is such a huge improvement I may give it a try.

Really enjoying the Career mode, started with Bradford, spend all my budget on a top youth scout. Brought be back a goalkeeper that'll be first choice once he turns 16, though he's short. The training module is really helping his growth, already at +7 ovr, half way through the first season.

Devante Cole is becoming quite the player too, hopefully he'll develop into a Prem level player.

There are six standard 433 formations in the game and two 4231s you have to be a bit more specific ;)

BPL + high pace = ridiculously overpriced. This just proves how pathetic the FIFA community is.

For half that sum you can get someone like Vietto, who aside from lacking strength is basically a midget Benzema.

I played a few games and, so far, I can't really notice a difference between it and 15. Players are slow on the ball and seem prone to seizures when defending. Maybe I'm just crap at the game or my playing style (fast passing on the ground with skilful players) doesn't work but I really should have played Witcher 3 instead. It might improve after a few games though.

Still no Hulk on the market, this is just depressing.

Have Bebe leading the line. Bastard just cost me the game. 1-0 up, he misses an open goal, they go on a break, I get a man sent-off, they score from the free-kick and then score again in injury time.

The standard 4-3-3 with a DM and two CMs and 4-2-3-1 with AMs. Haven't lost with either one so far.

So what's bugging me a bit is that my fitness squad is actually performing better than my main squad, even though it cost a tiny fraction of it. I don't even want to blame the infamous handicap for it, me getting overconfident in my high rated players or my opponents focusing more or playing more defensive because of the ratings (and vice versa for the fitness squad) is probably just as likely of an explanation, but it's beginning to get annoying.

So how to I approach the market on Ultimate Team? I have no fecking clue what i'm doing.

I bought a Dzeko for 1600 coins. Is that good? He was shiny and gold. Is that equivalent of getting a Charizard?

I have about 2000 coins left to spend... how do I approach it?

I wouldn't buy players yet. There is no value in the market. Prices will most likely start dropping soon, especially the low rated / cheap players.

I'm really enjoying the game so far. I was in horrible form on Seasons earlier on... Something like 7 wins and 6 losses, which is unlike me because I'm a very good player on Seasons... or I'd like to think so. Now my record stands at 16 wins and 6 losses (undefeated in the last 10 or so games) and I'm starting to to understand what works for me.

I still think crossing is underpowered though. It makes sense for EA to have players think a little bit more about the power and direction of their crosses, which fits the whole be more precise theme in this game, but every cross requires too much precision and mostly ends in the same manner: goalkeeper claiming the ball/punching the ball. Which brings me to my next point. Goalkeepers are better in this game but EA really needs to change how responsive goalkeepers are when a cross is put into the box. Every goalkeeper seems to be immortal aerially in the game, especially from corners. I somehow managed to score two headers from a corner earlier on, but that was an anomaly.

Go full manual, much better.

I've been playing on semi in offline but it's impossible to find online game with anything but assisted. It's getting better though and I found a game on manual in the morning today. Offline I'm playing only on manual now, much more difficult but very rewarding.

I've found it depends what team you choose online. If I stick to a 4 star team at none peak times then I may be waiting a while but I will. On weekends used to get games quick though.

Started a premier league season with United, won 1 nil against Spurs and villa then drew nil nil with Newcastle. Sound familiar?
