Fickle United Fans - This place is worse than KopTalk

Ive been silent about him all season, but im afraid my frustration has boiled over. I EXPECTED a whole lot more from Veron this season. Not just because of his price tag, but because of who he is, who he's played for, all the big matches he's played in. The man is capable of so much more.
This season we've seen a world-class player in maybe 5 or 6 matches. The rest of the matches he constantly gives the ball away and looks dis-interested. I thought passing was meant to be his main strength? He should try taking lessons from Keano on how to keep the ball, even if it only means passing it 5 yards.
If we'd wanted a Matt LeTissier clone we could have got the real thing for a fraction of the price, and he would have played the same.
I know, you'll all jump on the bandwagon and have a go at me for this but im one of few on here who constantly supports Gary Neville. A lot of the people who are now 'supporting' Veron are people who were calling for Gazz's head. Is it because he cost more and is a 'superstar' :rolleyes: that youre prepared to back him more?
By the way, if he stays next year and plays a blinder i'll eat humble pie and my hat. ;)

You're entitled to your opinion. And it's a constructive opinion anyway so no-one should complain.

There's a difference - imo - in slagging off a player just because they've had a bad game, and voicing genuine concerns about a player who has so far failed to live up to expectation.

We're all hoping Veron will settle more next year, and few of us doubt his ability.

But it's not a sin to pass an opinion on what has been a disappointing season in general for JSV, after all the pre-season hype.

I wouldn't imagine you're the only one who feels this way - but in last night's game (more than in some others) Veron was by no means the main culprit.

Bayer played well and got two well deserved goals when they might have had more.

We played well and got a lucky goal and a fortuitous penalty through good play.

The reason we are disappointed is because we didn't see the very best we can see from our team - the entier team seemed a little out of sorts and if I'm honest - a little overconfident.

The Chelsea game may well have fooled our gang into thinking that because the current lineup played so well against them - that Bayer would be as easy a prospect.

In the return leg it will be very different. There's always a lot to be said about how much we need Keane - we didn't at Chelsea, but we missed him yesterday. Discipline was what failed us, and it's just what we should expect to see return on Tuesday. Bayer have not killed us off and I think they'll live to regret that they didn't...

Nobody is complaining about constuctive comments here! I started this thread because it disturbed me that so many people were slagging off players left right and centre (especially Verón) for last night's performance without even thinking about what they were saying! Or, being fashionable and slagging him off for no reason!

FACT: He was not the reason why we drew last night! And he was a major reason why we scored the goals we did and the goals we did not!

I welcome good debate, but when people start saying this player was shite and that player was shite then it becomes very subjective, not objective. If someone is objective then I respect their opionions and even if I do not agree with them I can have a debate. But you cannot debate on a subjective level!

I'm just sick and tired of people blaming Verón for every error we make! And I mean I am sick of it!!!!!!!

Here in Spain for example, most of the people I know think that he is one class act, and that he needs time to adjust to the English style of play and also to the setup (meaning the team) we currently have! Those people are not subjective as they don't give a shit about Manchester United, but they can see on an objective level the problems he has to face. And they all believe that he will come good.

PS. I've not got the time right now to discuss why he is one of the best midfield players in the World! Start another thread for that.

I dont think anyone has singled Veron out, not even me

I think it's becoming more fashionable not to mention that he's been crap bar 2 games this season

"Did anyone see that great pass that very nearly came off?" you quite often read on here, when in truth it is yet another misplaced pass

I dont think an 'Almost great pass' is getting value for money

If you weaste and some others do then perhaps i have a strange understanding of the term value for money

i've said he's been crap all season and i'll give you the benefit of the doubt on his 2 great games

Just be honest and write down that you think he's been a major asset and i'll believe you

A) Never expected it!
B) Could not control it!

It's just a case of certain United fans being obsessed with Liverpool, to the extent where having not got the result you needed against BL,and in a thread discussing the MUFC v BL game, some wally has to make a reference to LFC!

Even yesterday at around 3 or 4pm (ish) someone (i wont mention who) instead of getting excited about your game, was busy posting some stuff about
Liverpool's style of play, Gerrard's misplaced passes, Liverpool's inability to seat 60000 fans and the lack of sponsorship funds this would cause for them!

I'm not bothered that much about Utd fans slating LFC (naturally, i prefer constructive criticism to mindless crap like the oh so original 'Liverpool are boring/crap/negative/not Man Utd' etc)...
I DO however find it slightly humourous (and a touch sad) when rather than discussing the Leverkusen game in a thread ABOUT the BL game, some (minority it has to be said) United fans chooses to make a tired old comment about LFC...

But theyre welcome to carry on, i dont mind.
