Fernando Torres

Nah mate, he's just having a bad run of form. The old Torres will be back soon, you'll see.

No white text? Its like Jekyll and Hyde, everytime Torres has a good game and everyone goes The Old Torres is back like as though he is the second coming of Jesus...

Another to add to the long list of misses from the man in question:

I don't even think it's acceptable to discuss the Torres of yonder year. He's clearly well past his best now and truly won't get anywhere near that standard ever again, be it at Chelsea or any other team for that matter.

No sympathy for the guy, I find his catastrophic fall from grace to be pretty hilarious.

After the United game the ''doing a Torres'' became a joke thing, but he has done it so many times since (even the other day in a preseason) doing a ''Torres'' has become legend.

Read my other posts in the thread mate, I agree with you completely.

who is everyone??...certainly none of the match going Chelsea supporters who have been very patient with him and supported him even though they knew he had turned shoite

A few silly journalists and even Mourinho (I think) did last season after his game against Spurs when he assisted Schurlle and played decently despite missing a good chance in the game as usual... Anyway who do you is a worse signing, Torres or Shevchenko?

Still can't believe he went to the world cup. Absolutely the most undeserving of players in that Spanish squad. Isco deserved to go in my opinion.

Well if you were to take Torres out I think another striker should have taken his spot. But who? Soldado? Negredo? Llorante? Michu? I think Negredo would have been a better option but thats it

So a few journo's is not every one.
There have been far worse signings than those 2 over the years. But if I had to choose from a clubs financial perspective...then Sheva.
Torres has bought a lot of money into the club through media work and exposure.

My sources tell me that Chelsea have given him permission to have a medical at Milan ahead of a £10 million move.

Undoubtably a huge flop but for the rest of my life I'll always remember this...

And for that, Sheva keeps his crown as our worst buy ever.

Will Milan pay his full wages?

Him and Kaká were kidnapped in 2009 and changed for stuntmen

We'll have offloaded Van Ginkel and him for around 22 million then, enough to buy another back up striker?

He was unbelievably lucky there after giving the ball away in the first place.

Fair play getting £10million for him.

I enjoyed watching him play when he was at Liverpool. It's unfortunate that he went down hill so quickly.

Can't believe how good he was for Liverpool he looked one of the top 3 strikers in the world a spanish business colleague reckoned he was never that good at Athletico. Should chels have bought a long ball man like "slippy G" to get the best out of him?

Watching that video I still get annoyed at him fecking about on the edge of the box.
Glad to see him go, hopefully we get another striker in.

I've never seen a player fall from grace like he did, he was unbelievable in his prime, but really only Benitez ever got the best from him.

Well, it's not quite as bad as Adriano. Remember how amazing that guy was for Inter in 04/05 before he turned into a fat, lazy drunk?

This is terrible for both the player and Milan. They are going to burden him with providing the goals? He won't handle the pressure and they'll look desperately for a striker in January. Probably end up getting Bendtner on loan or something.

I'm reading that the reason it's a 2 year loan is because that's more beneficial to Chelsea FFP-wise than simply giving him a free transfer.

DOes that make sense to anyone with a better grasp of FFP than a dimwit like myself?

You'd have to pay off the 2 years left on his 175k p/w contract if he left on a free so yeah as Milan are apparently paying a fair bit of his wages.

Terrifyingly good at his best for Liverpool. Kinda hard to believe how shit he is/was for Chelsea.

Not sure about FFP but I read a Mourinho quote that you need to send out a foreign player to make the PL quota work.

Is it because you'd have to pay out the rest of his contract if you released him now?

I think he means literally no fee and just transfer his contract over to Milan. Might be something to do with bonuses he'd be owed and the fact Milan might not be able to afford his wages without a contribution from Chelsea.

I understand the wages issue, my query is more about the original £50 million transfer fee being amortized over the length of his contract. £50 million / 5 years =£10 million a year. If we had let him go on a free with 2 years left on his contract, our FFP figures would look a lot worse than if we loan him with his wages paid by someone else. At least I think that's the issue.

Players like Adriano and Ronaldinho are understandable in the sense they let themselves go.

Torres seems like a good professional though. And his physique hasn't declined. His mind was just broken overnight.

If that's how it works, then that would make sense.
