Ferguson says Gerrard is better than Keane and Vieira

Did you think you'd finish 3rd this year?

I wasnt that confident that wed win the title, i reckoned Arsenal, spurred on by the previous yrs disappointment would be a good bet, like what well be next season.
I expected us to be a lot closer at the end, i hadnt accounted for the whole Rio & M&M farces.
I never had the slightest doubt about who the top three would be though, as i doubt many do concerning next season either.

I reckoned it was a distinct possibility, all depending on how Chelsea would do. I never doubted that wed finish below 3rd.
Did you think the dippers would finish in the top three? Do you think they will next season?

I know you're a bit thick, but this is hilarious.

Did you think you'd finish 3rd this year? Just yes or no.

Give it a try - there's a good lad.

Why the condescending attitude? Were trying to discuss football in a civilised manner, just because your not very good at it dont bring it down to a typical DJS "your a thick bastard, no your a thick bastard"
type thread. The amount of threads that you ruin in this place is a shame, ppl reckon rival fans spice the place up a bit, the likes of you just make it monotinious. :boring:

Yes, i reckoned it was very possible that we could finish third. Nigh on impossible to finish fourth mind you.

Now answer my question:

Did you think Liverpool would finish in the top three and do you think the same for next season?

So you did think you'd finish 3rd. What has happened to make you think you'll be so much better next year?

As for me, i wouldnt be daft enough to speculate until i've seen what happens over the summer.

if he comes to united he will definately become a player who could match or if not better what keane has done
But Keane is just class

He never said we'd finish third. I believe his exact words were, "Yes, i reckoned it was very possible that we could finish third."

Christ, I thought the education system over there was supposed to be good, yet you can't even properly read what someone said.

And since you kept bitching for him to answer your question I'll do the same since you ignored half of his.

Did you think Liverpool would finish in the top three? (that's for this season obviously)

Gerrard is as good as Keane ever was. In fact, he's better. He has everything Keane had and more - the only thing he lacks is good teammates, which Keane has always had. .........

But Keane in his pomp and Gerrard of today is a good comparasion, one which Gerrard still shades IMO. The quality of his passing, his crossing, vision and versatility is superior to Keane even in his heyday. And he has all of Keane's desire, effort and engine.

I would grudingly agree with that. :(

As Fergie mentioned, Gerrard is a Keane and I think he did not mean in terms of footballing ability but in the way they influenced things around them. It's the same with Vieira. I think Fergie meant that in terms of influence, Vieira and Gerrard are equal but the latter is a better footballer. That's my interpretation anyway.

In terms of footballing ability, even the most bitter Man Uted fan would have to agree that Gerrard's got more chink in his armour than Keane had in his heyday. You have to remember that Gerrard is still 23. The same age as Keane was at the end of his first season.

However, if Gerrard is to attain true greatness, I think he's going to have to leave Liverpool, especially if the scousers continue in being so far behind the big 3.

Gerrard is the new Bryan Robson. Footballing giant in a mediocre team. :)

Why has he bought Bellion.

Good question..

No feckin idea, he was probably thrashed or summat..

Anyway, King Gerrard...the best midfielder in the league this season, its no wonder you want to buy his so much. You really need someone of his ability....

not as much as you need someone of his ability.

If he leaves, you lot are screwed.

And :wenger: would have lost both arms and legs in the process.

True

We've got someone of his ability mind...and he ain't going anywhere

If you continue being an also-ran, as you've been throughout his career, he will soon feck off.

Barcelona have started getting very interested in him :D

He doesn't say Gerrard is better than Vieira, he says more influential. I agree because unlike Gerrard Vieira is playing with good players but Gerrard is playing with decent players who have under-performed most of the season.

Exactly!

It makes me laugh how people can read an article that's in black and white and miss the whole point or in fact just make up the theme of the article.

Vieria is not as influential on Arsenal as Gerrard is with Liverpool as Vieira is surrounded by class players who know what their responsibilities.

Gerrard was superb on Sat but should he really be doing everyone elses job?

Gerrard at present is a good player playing at his best in a poor side but in the same class as Robbo, Keane your must be joking he might get close to that standard if he keeps improving and moves to a top team, but not at Pool unless they change their manager.

Keane16 said:
You're lashing that one in as many posts as possible - you must be worried.

Only in response to desperate suggestions that he'll be off...

If I thought there was a chance I'd be very worried indeed

To be fair, the performance he gave on Saturday was worthy of Keane in his prime - but Keano gave them every week for years against all sorts (and still does occasionally), Gerrard doesn't. Well, not yet anyway.
That consistancy is not easy to achieve.

Gerrard was very very good against Birmingham too. The last bad game I've reckon he's had was against Arsenal. Even then, he was Liverpools best player.

Great pass for Owen's goal wasn't it?
