Ferguson says Gerrard is better than Keane and Vieira

That old thread is revealing. It shows how much form can play a part in people's thinking. Back then, it seems like people were reluctant to bestow any real plaudits on Gerrard - but he has improved immensely and is in form at the moment - therefore greatness is just around the corner....

At long last after yrs of trying one of his Hollywood passes arrive where they should, thats whats changed opinions.

nah, there is more to it than that. Its been building up for a while. That pass was a good one fair enough, but I wouldn't buy Gerrard for his passing ability.

Ok, so let's just get this straight, once and for all...

You dont rate Steven Gerrard? How would you describe his ability? 'Crap' ? 'Shit' ? Do enlighten us.

Hes decent playing in a crap side so until he moves to a good side well never know how good he can be.
Imagine if keane had signed for Blackburn, would he be the player he is now?

Well, he might have been that extra player that might have led Blackburn to the league title in 93-94 and a repeat performance in 94-95, but would probably have moved on by 96 (maybe to United as SAF would have grown fond of him after two successive 2nd place finishes). Or he would have moved to say Pool or Chelsea or Arse or Juve or Celtic...who knows what might have been had he signed for Blackburn. But I'm quite sure he wouldn't have stuck around for more than 4 years. Players like Keane are world class wherever they go. Just like Shearer. How much better would he be had he chose United? Not much, IMO. He'd have a few more medals and more applaud, that's all.

So how do you respond to the fact that so many players, pundits and managers, including you own, have described him as 'awesome' and 'the most influential player in the league - bar none' ?

The man who you apparently respect so much, the man who knows so much about football, the man whose judgement on players has brought you so many honours, including a treble, the man who would love to sign Gerrard - you dont value his opinion too highly, do you?

I used to think when i read some of your shit that you might just be drunk - then i realised it was EVERY post of yours...

The man whos trying to butter Gerard up for a move to Utd perhaps?
As i said he has potential, something hes had for 5 or 6 yrs now. Hes had a good final third fo the season, itll take more than that for me to compare him to Keane.
One swallow doesnt make a Keano

Firstly, Gerrard would never move to OT.

Secondly...why would Fergie want him there, if Gerrard is just 'average' or just 'potential' ?

Either way, your bizarre stupidity doesnt add up.

Why is he buying/ bought Miller & Bellion, because their world beaters or because they have potential?
Gerard would move to OT if he had the ambition to become a great player, if hes worried about how a few scallies will react he obviously hasnt the balls to become world beater.
Its his loss, not ours.

But Miller and Bellion wouldnt cost upwards of £30m you plank. SAF would hardly spend such a huge amount on 'potential' :wenger:

And Gerrard not wanting to join United has nothing to do with ambition - he's a Liverpool fan and, as such, he hates everything to do with MUFC.

Dont flatter yourself that it'd be his loss - because it really wouldnt.
Quite a few players dont want to play for your club - get used to it. :smirk:

Steven Gerard would perhaps get 20 million form Utd, 5 million or so to anyone else imo.
They said the same about Alan Smith, he even said so himself a few yrs back, these days it doesnt seem such an impossability. If Gerard had ambition and Fergie wanted him hed be a fool to stay at Liverpool, i believer hed be a fool to stay there eitherway.
As i said if he hasnt the balls to leave Liverpool and go to a club chasing top honours he hasnt the balls to be a world class player.
For example, how many really world class players play for clubs that are out of the championship race by September?

God your bitter, because we have been the most consistent team in England for the last 12 yrs or so and will allways be there or there abouts. Leeds, Blackburn, Arsenal etc will come and go but Utd will allways be in with a shout.
All im saying is that for Gerard to develop into a world class player he needs to move to a serious club. Challenging for 4th every season is not the sort of thing that inspires greatness is it?

So he should move from 4th to 3rd? Big step up, that...

Yeah, he's really gutted about that.

And the man who as won fcuk all with his boyhood club.If i was him i would be gutted.

He is. He has said as much recently.

And we're all delighted, watching him sat on the field, looking up at the United team collecting the FA Cup at Wembly at '99, while he clutched his runners up medal, was one of the best memories from that season :D .

He has played for the club he supported, but he is a winner DJS, he has a winners mentality, and he has won feck all with them, of course he is gutted about it. The c*nt.

You really are a very bitter boy

I doubt very much that he regrets snubbing you. Twice. You cnut. ;)

Surprised you knew who Alan Shearer was actually. :smirk:

Big difference allright, 15 points, similar difference to you lot and Portsmouth.
Liverpool will be realistically hoping for 4th again next season where as Utd as usual will be one of the three (and only three) favourites.
Does Steven Gerard want to stay with a side battling for 4th or go to a side battling for the title and the CL? ie does Steven Gerard want to take the step up to a higher level or remain where he is?

So what I said is un-true? Tell me that Alan Shearer, with the mentality he has, is not gutted about winning absolutely nothing with Newcastle? Go on.

And why are you suprised?

"David May, Superstar, Got more medals than Shear-ar"

"Brian McClair, he may be fat, but he's got more medals than THAT Geordie tw@"

Right now/this season Gerrard is far better.

You finished 15 points off the top spot. I'd hardly call that 'contending' for the title.

So far, nothing has happened that would make next season's exploits much different for you.

Yeah with Blackburn not with his boyhood heroes which any person with ambition would want.He wanted to win things with Newcastle and next season being his last his gutted he as failed.

For all your little playground songs, the fact is you're bitter because you missed out on signing him. Twice.

I dont blame you. You might've won as many titles or European Cups as us by now if he'd wanted to play for you. But he didnt. Like a fair few players dont.

15 points is decieving, we had fuch all to play for recently, anyway fair play to Arsenal, 90 points is more than enough to win a title. We got 75, weve won titles with only 5 or 7 points more before.
When we get Rio back and a clean slate well be well in for the title and you would be insane (or in your case extremely bitter) not to see this.
Personally, hand on the heart i genuinely believe that we are the favourites for the title next season, we havnt gone two seasons without winning it before and i reckon well have the motivation back for next season.
Anyway whether he goes to Utd or not he should move to a better club if he wants to improve himself.

How do you know you wont have another poor season? How do you know you wont get injuries and suspensions?

How do you know Liverpool wont make significant improvements?

I think you're speculating and are in denial about how far you've fallen.

;)

Pure speculation from a man with an IQ that struggles to reach room temperature by the looks of it.

If we had signed him from Southampton, we wouldnt have had King Eric, I know which one EVERY United would pick.

And, if we had him from Blackburn, we wouldnt have got Solskjaer, or so Fergie says in his book, and considering which certain baby-faced Norweigen won us the European cup on that glorious night in Barcelona, Id say alot of good has come out of the gormless sod not signing for us.

Great player though, no doubt about that.

Gasgoigne turned United town, too, he is not hated, Shearer is hated by United fans because he is a dirty, classless twat. And every year he rolls up at Old Trafford, and every year the Stretford End sing:

"Shearer, show us ye medals..."

And the look on his face is great (I was there for the last two home fixtures against the Geordies so I have experienced it :D ), it really winds him up, and with good reason. Whats he got to show in terms of silverware from his time at Newcastle, and you think it hasnt hurt him one bit to see United pick up every trophy under the sun since he rejected us?

1) We tend to perform better after a humiliation and when ppl are writing us off, which is what Arsenal have doen to us this season and what ppl are doing.
2) I reckon well cope better with them next season,
3) You dont have the resources and you dont have the manager. Even if a new guy comes in its going to take him a few yrs to get it right. I reckon you should get someone who could develop a cunning "60 month plan" and let him loose.
4) Im not in denial, i genuinely believe it'll be the same three next season aswell. Id have us as favourites due to point 1. Also Arsenal will have to crash sometime or other, and i reckon Chelsea will also have a new manager who will spend the first yr in charge developping a cunning "270 week plan"

Ok, i've just rung him....he said:

"No, i couldnt give a shit - dont listen to what that little bed-wetting boy says, he doesnt have a clue about football. He didnt know who Bill Shankly was. He is clueless, ignore him"

Sorry - that's what the great man had to say.
