Independent are usually reliable.

All these fecking transfer rumours are doing my head in. So far this year in some point of time Vidic, Rio, Nani, Valencia, Rooney, Welbeck, Berbatov, Pogba and Morrison have been on their way out apparently. feck off media!

Not much on this but the Independent are carrying this headline

Ferguson set to let Rooney go... for a shit.

He's had him on a strict no shitting regime all season which SAF is finally calling time on in favour of a new approach whereby he's just gonna allow nature to take its course.

Poor Keira Knightly. I must say sometimes I do the same. When I read this crap

That's why it's a 4-page spread

If he didn't let him go for questioning the ambition of the club and saying he wants to leave, then he certainly isn't gonna let him go for having a boxing day meal with his wife.

After fighting to keep him? Timeline makes little sense and fits in with the over blowing of the whole situation (on the beer) in the first place.

The Independent is a smarter paper than the Sun who just throw lots shit at the wall and hope some sticks, if I was a sporting journalist it would make sense as a story.

A- It's big and will sell.
B- Just the right time with all the hoopla over the unsanctioned night out.
C- If it works you look good, if it doesn't then who will remember? Besides football365...
D. It's a smart outsider to hedge your bets on from a journalistic point of view.

Wherever he's going, it's somewhere with high-speed rail network.

So we fought to keep him and made him our highest earner ever and 12 months later we're going to sell him, in January? Yeah I see the logic :wenger:

It's too easy to be a journalist nowadays...

If Fergie is willing to let him go, I doubt the papers would know about it. That would definitely derail our season. Summer? Who knows.

Apparently The Independent was behind the Gaitan stories as well? Typical rubbish.

Dunno, this forum is a curse, everytime there is a rumour about Rooney it usually is true.

No smoke without fire. And no player is bigger than the club.

This.

If the article is true then Rooney can do one. He got away with murder in November 2010 when he openly took the piss out of Fergie and United over his contract renewal...

Still can't help but feel this is all the usual paper talk shite that comes about after we lose a couple on the bounce.

Always on ferguson's terms. This was inevitable from the day he said he wanted out.

The calendar curse strikes again; Rooney is on mine for January.

(yes I'm a grown man with a Man Utd calendar. Swivel)

If he does go, I wouldn't be awfully disappointed if we got a replacement. I heard Tevez is looking for a new club.

The majority of any money from his sale would be banked like Ronaldo's.

Doubt it. When we let Ronaldo go, it was always with the idea that Rooney would step up and be our marquee player, talisman or whatever. I'm certain that if Rooney's let go, we will be in a top class talen to fill that void.

Selling him now doesn't make much sense, but he's a ton of trouble and costs a lot to boot. He gets his head done in every few months and his form drops for long periods of time. He's also a twat.

Still, he's a very good twat. Perhaps Jose is looking to swap Ronaldo for him. ;)
