Fergie to let Rooney go?

Now, every article says he's pissy because we won't buy any quality players...namely midfielders. Can't really argue with that. Our midfield has been rubbish because we failed to fix it this summer.

Anyone who still holds a grudge against Rooney for seeking a new contract is a childish moron. And anyone who actually wants Rooney to be sold after nearly eight years of fantastic service is a scumbag who doesn't deserve to support the club.

You're a verbal scumbag.

Anyone who still holds a grudge against Rooney for talking shit about the club in order to get an even higher salary is a childish moron. And anyone who actually wants Rooney to be sold after nearly eight years of having the privilege to play football for such a fantastic club doesn't deserve to support the football club.

Fixed.

I'm fine with this... maybe not mid-season... but if the right offer came along in the summer I don't think many of us would complain too loud.

Question is... who with the money to buy Rooney would / need to buy him?

City don't really need him, ditto Barca.

Either of the Milans would seem happier with a cut price Tevez... although Caftards may go wild with some sort of Rooney for Sneijder deal.

I suppose there's always Real. Jose has always been a fan.

Chelsea spring to mind as Torres hasn't panned out and Drogba seems off in the summer.

This will be more fun than last Oct / Nov.

Talking shit about the club? What shit did he talk? He said that he felt we could no longer attract the best players in the world, and he questioned the club's ambitions, presumably to be the best in the world. All evidence would suggest that he is correct, despite what Ferguson has claimed there is absolutely nothing to suggest we are getting closer to being the best side in the world, nor are we even trying to do so in the short to medium term, we're just falling further behind. I don't know what assurances he was given, or if he was even given any, maybe it was all about the money, but if the club keeps going in the way it is then you couldn't really blame him if he wanted to leave.

I'd hope he wouldn't go to City, and I'd hope moreso that we would refuse to sell to them if he did decide to leave though. Ferguson's been talking about selling good players to your rivals this week, selling our best player to our closest rivals would be suicidal.

Selling Rooney would be a disaster on a number of levels, especially if we sold him inside the country. I wouldn't write off these latest rumours of trouble simply because the last twice we did that we found out there is no smoke without fire when it comes to Rooney more often than not.

And another very important factor worth considering is ,will we rre-invest all the money we get from the rooney deal back?

Or will the Glazers feck us over

He and the club have both denied it. I don't get why it's still being discussed.

He's staying.

Ah...but what if they've come to some sort of agreement Ronaldo style where he stays for the rest of the season to maintain some stability and help united finish at best he can, then they won't stand in his way in the summer should a big bid come in?

Remembering the Ronaldo days, there were so many instances of him stating "i stay" or issuing statements of his commitment to the club only to be sold in the summer. Its not inconceivable that Fergie and Rooney had fallen out, but in mutual respect of each other decided to come together to an agreement, Rooney gives 100% till end of season, but united sell him in the summer no fuss...

Who knows?

If he wants to leave then let him. He has definitely not become the player we thought he might, and after so long at the club, a change may be in everyone's best interest.

I would not be as sorry to see him go now, as i would have been a few years ago.

That's Balotelli you're thinking of.

The only flaw in that theory is that Rooney clearly hasn't been giving 100%, otherwise he would not have been disciplined for training poorly.

That goes for every player... Ever.

How dare you ruin my sunday without a second thought!

And? There are many more examples of players saying they're staying then actually end up staying.

Most probably you re correct, but for some reason or other, i m not so convinced.

Sell Rooney, buy Ronaldo, let's start playing 4-3-3.

I don't know if I'm serious.

Me neither, he just doesn't look happy Rooney. A lot of his old frustration seems to be simmering just below the surface again. He was in good form after a lean spell, but due to poor discipline, he was left out and now looks out of sorts again.

His good spells seem to be getting shorter each time, something doesn't seem right. Poor training is not something i would have expected from Wayne, unless his heart isn't in it anymore.

No, you've misunderstood. By many more I mean in terms of total quantity. Not many more than the one example

Nope, that's pretty much what I meant in the post you quoted. Loads of players say it then leave, often in the same window(both the biggest transfer last January said they'd be saying in those windows for starters), using denials to the press as any form of evidence is irrelevant. Clubs constantly lie to their fans, also using any journo piece as evidence is even worse, so eh. I just choose to ignore this stuff until anything truly materializes.

You must believe something though? You say you don't listen to the rubbish and only believe things that truly materialise. The only thing that CAN materialise is he leaves. Because the alternative is to stay... Which he's said he's doing. There's nothing else Rooney can do.

Anyway, I've already had enough of this thread. It's a non-story.

City dont need him now so where would he go? Mrs Rooney will never leave her family and Scouse mates, so he will stay.

Well I believe none of them could say anything else really....Utd if they did want to sell, won't admit it openly as it'd hit his value, and he doesn't want to have thugs outside his house again. A move would be swift and fast if it did happen this time.

Right now, we don't if the initial report has any truth, if it doesn't, then it's a shame we are lied to enough by the club not to trust in their statements. I however got more concerns about leaving after they denied, although still not many concerns.

Kisses the badge..... I think that puts all this shit to bed then!

For no other player are media stories talked in such depth such as Rooney's in the caf.

Rooney post match "There's no problems with me at this club and I want to stay at this club for a long time."

Can we close this thread now then?

Rooney: "Everything which has been written in the press is a load of nonsense, because it's me and it's Utd, it's blown up out of context. There's no problems with me at this club, I want to be at this club for a long time"

Fergie: "There's absolutely no problem with Rooney. Wayne has to realise the press have another Gazza, a headline maker whether it's good or bad. He's going to have to suffer with that. Best thing is when he is good. Magnificent today"
