Fellaini

Money is all relative to who wants to spend and who wants to sell. I honestly couldn't give a shit how much of the Glaziers money we spend on players. The club is cash rich at the moment so spread the wealth I say!

Fair enough, I think regardless of our cash position we're only gonna spend certain amounts so would rather we got our money's worth. Plus just from an ability point of view I think there are better players for our needs potentially available for similar prices, maybe less in some cases.

Yes, and he does all that from a position he'd never play for us.

Asking a question of how he fouls so high up the pitch. Gave the answer.

Asking a question of how he would be a good defensive central midfielder. Gave the answer and the evidence to back it up as have many throughout the thread.

The overriding message from people who don't want him mainly seems to be

"elbows dirty elbows dirty cnut floppy hairy dirty elbows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Microphone headed feck.

He's good for Everton. We're Manchester United, though, not Everton. Being good at holding the ball up and making niggly fouls shouldn't be our aim in signing a footballer.

He couldn't play as defensive midfield though could he? Is he quick? No. Disciplined? No. Good passer of the ball under pressure. Debatable. Good tackler? No. Tall and strong? Check, lets buy him so. Imagine a nifty offensive midfielder ala Mata or Hazard running at Fellaini.

 feck sake

Some on here are too thick to know how to spell thick.

Where's that BOOM gif?

Think was actually a cryptic message but you're to think to get it.

We can sing him all day once we don't sign him :wenger:

I've got a Fellini
That tonight's gonna be a good night
that tonight's gonna be a good good night

Tonight's the night
Let's hoof it up
We've got some money
Let's spend it up

Go out and smash it
Like Oh My God
Throw out an Elbow
And break his nose

I know that he'll have the ball
If we go down
And sign him up
And never lose at all

His hairs stressed out
He wanna let it grow
He looks spaced out
That's how microphones roll

We'll win the cups
Mazel tov
Look at his chest
Just kick it OFF

Hope he does. I've got nothing against the man, really, and in one way it would be satisfying to witness the reactions of some of our fanbase - who are clearly too bloody snobbish for their own good. But ultimately Microphone is too limited to be anything but a squad man for us.

Moyes, who knows him better than most, would probably be able to use him effectively in a certain kind of match - but he wouldn't/shouldn't be a starter for us, and thus probably not worth the investment (he will cost a fair bit, won't he?)

In short, I'd take him as a squad player (not to say fringe player), but it would be a bit of a waste for all parties involved, I fear.

It wouldn't be a waste for Everton, they'd be laughing if they got £24m for him.

To be fair it's only a £9m profit and it's hard to see how they could replace him with someone as effective without reinvesting a large chunk of the fee. Can't exactly see Kenwright giving Martinez much of it to spend either.

True. For all the faults I see in Fellaini he's still a hugely effective player for Everton. Even if the signed a talented midfielder to replace him they'd still miss the option of pushing him further forward. Having said that, the Everton fans I know don't seem to be to bothered at the prospect of losing him. They'd be more bothered at losing someone like Barkley, or even Baines.

I do hope the Fellaini moment in the bright lights comes and goes quickly. He'd be a pretty good squad man as an upgrade for Ando, but I doubt Microphone () himself wants to be a squad man, even for United; and I douby any of us here really do rate him as worth 24m anyway. Not that it's our money, but if we have 24m to splash on a player we probably have another 10-15m to add to that and get a proven "world class" midfielder who could make the difference between us crashing out in the first knockout round of the CL and making it to the final.

Its "only" a £9 million profit because he was bought for a lot of money

But they arent United or Madrid to replace a like for like player. The bigger clubs might have to replace a big player if they lose one. But clubs like Everton dont necessarily have to. They might buy young players and groom them for the future before selling them and making a profit again. Plus its not Martinez had a ton of money to spend at Wigan. He did alright there didnt he?

Well he did do quite well keeping them up but he's going up a level to manage Everton, surviving in the league or finishing mid-table year on year isn't good enough considering that they've challenged for the European places in recent years. It's like saying that Moyes did well at Everton with no money so if he came here and didn't have any money he could keep us at the same level. If you took Fellaini out of that team and didn't replace him or reinvest any of the money, they're going to be a noticably worse team. I just can't see that a team who bought a player for £15m (therefore showing a desire to improve) will be content with making a few quid on his sale.

Exactly, the ambition they showed by forking out £15m for him suggests that they want to push on to the next level. Losing the player for £24m surely means they need to replace him with someone as good and would suggest that they might not be just laughing their way to the bank?

They paid barely anything less than what he's worth now. In other words, they got what they paid for

Bump.

Kenwright says that he has a release clause of £15million and refuses to assure that they won't be selling him in the Summer. I wasn't aware of that, I thought he'd cost well over £20m.

I don't want Fellaini, but 15 million is a much better price. Isn't that roughly what they paid for him?

£15m? That's nothing in today's market, would definitely take him for that kind of fee. Would also leave room for adding another CM + obviously a winger if Nani is departing.

He's not really a Martinez type player is he? Martinez probably expressed that. Bit like Carroll not being to Rodgers liking.
In the quotes I saw Kenwright didn't specify a price just that he had a get out clause .

The Kenright quotes I read have him admitting to the buy-out clause but not that it's £15M. I found it surprising that he even mentioned the clause at all, but I assume he knows Moyes is most likely to try to sign Fellaini and in which case he already knows about the clause.

I only read an article on SkySports which said that it's £15m and that Kenwright admits that there is a clause and he might be sold, with quotes, perhaps that's what gave me impression that it is in fact £15m.

No brainer at £15million

Even the posters who seem to really hate him couldn't argue with that fee

Here we are, Kenwright quote in full. The Mail (and others) are citing the clause as 24M. He's talking about who might leave Everton this summer.

'I said 'No, they absolutely do not have to go' (although) there is one (Fellaini) that has a get-out which everyone knows.'

I thought it odd he mentioned the clause which is how I came to the conclusion that Martinez isn't into Fellaini.

Or else, he (Kenwright) could be telling Moyes, he ll needs to fork out a lot to get one of his players (Baines ?), apart from Fellaini, who has a release clause.

Seems likely. I can also imagine Martinez will try to bring McCarthy with him.
