Fellaini

Not surprising if he is keen to join United. A definitely step up in footballing terms, UCL football next season, familiar league, familiar manager, much improved pay. Seems to tick all the boxes.

As long as he controls his temper, then I'm all for him coming here. He does tick many boxes as stated above. Would be nice to have some aerial presence in midfield too.

Back to getting booked every game then

He's had more yellow cards this season than any other apart from his first. 08/09 he had 19 Yellow cards, and this season he has had 12.

09/10, 10/11 and 11/12, were all seasons with under 10 yellow cards.

19 yellow cards?! Holy moly.

First season and he's always had cards in him. Obviously now he has learnt to be a little more disciplined but also how to get away with some fouls. It doesn't help that he does stupid things sometimes like the game against Stoke.

His fouls do worry me on European level, I think he'd be in danger of getting sent off fair bit, and he's only had 3 since he's been here. 2 in the season with the 19 yellows!

Scholes constantly worried me but it didn't stop him being a great player

We'll sign him, the hipsters and transfer muppets will be enraged, peterstorey and Liverpool fans will declare him an awful signing. It'll be the start of the decline for United.

He'll come here and be a very solid player. The "not United quality" claims will slowly evolve into "Good squad player but not world class", and after that slowly evolve into claims of "He's actually one of the best CMs in the league". He'll score some important goals and play with some passion and he'll become a fans' favourite.

Yup, I think he would add a lot to our side.

No fecking about, he has plenty of experience in the league and will add goals from midfield.

Do it Moyes.

I was having this conversation yesterday and was saying the only player I'd like to see come with Moyes is Fellaini but only if he's played as a defensive midfielder and not attacking. We need someone else other than Carrick because when Carrick is out, we're fecked.

If we played a formation with Carrick and Fellaini sitting and a front 4 (obviously not 4 strikers) then it could be an exciting set up.

He's a decent player who would add to our squad but for 23m surely there's other options out there.

Fellaini is a step in the wrong direction. He's not creative, he's just a long ball merchant. Rather we go for Ross Barkley.

I'm not convinced by the quality of his passing and his disciplinary record is horrendous. He'd certainly improve our midfield options because as it stands, so if its Fellaini or nothing I'd take him..but if there are better players out there, (PL experience or not, such a pointless argument given the fact that so many talents have come in without it, including Fellaini) I'd hope we look elsewhere.

Similar to Moyes, never my first choice but if it happens I put my original opinion to bed and get behind.

Does he need to be creative in a defensive midfield role? He job would be to break up play, put in tackles, get about the other midfielders on the other team and then lay the ball off to a player who is creative.

Honestly, I think Fellaini is underated. If you watched Everton a lot you'll know he's kinda like what Carrick does for us. He offers a lot and has such a good touch for a player so big. 23m isn't too bad considering his contract, maybe other players available ? I don't really know but maybe Fellaini is a key player to make the new Moyes system work, we'll just have to see. He could be a totally different player with world class players behind him than the likes of Anichebe up front etc...

We'd be quite intimidating on corners with the likes of Fellaini and Vidic marauding about...

He would certainly add something different to our team.......but I can never just get past his twattish hair.

I had those hopes for Ashley Young. They don't all work out like that :(

His game is nothing like what Carrick does for us. His passing range is no further than about six yards.

Nice journalism. He never actually said he would want to join us.

His signing would be almost as underwhelming as when the news broke through that Moyes was our new manager.

One gets a nice impression of what the gameplan from Everton looked like a lot of the time. Hoof it right up to the big lad with the annoying hair.

We've seen how Fellaini can absolutely dominate a game. He's done it against us enough time. I personally think as a defensive minded option he would be a fantastic option for us.

He never dominated us from a midfield position. He dominated us when they asked him to play a withdrawn striker role which is fair enough but we don't need a physical player to play there, it shouldn't be our style.

I'm still unconvinced if Fellaini has the ability and temperament to be a commanding midfield general for us in the same vein as Roy Keane or Paul Ince were, but I have been impressed with him on previous occasions I've seen him playing the role for Everton. I remember one such occasion when Everton beat Chelsea on penalties in the FA Cup at Stamford Bridge and Fellaini was the best player on the pitch, completely dominating the Chelsea midfield. That was the first time I stood up and took notice of him, and thought he might go on to play at a higher level than Everton. Time will tell if it's with us or not, but if Moyes trusts him to do a job here, I'd be happy to support him.

No he wont, he'll just be another Young.

I honestly can't understand the underrating of Fellaini on here. It is quite odd.

What is he particularly good at? He's great in the air, he has a good shot and decent dribbling, he's very strong physically. What he's not really great at is defending and passing (short passes he's fine with, he doesn't have much creativity though). Is he good enough to play for a top club? Yes, he probably is. Is he what United need right now? Absolutely not.
