Fellaini

Would you not take him at Arsenal Pete? I think he'd do well in your team. I think he'd be an asset to all the top teams in the league actually, the price might be high but it's to be expected in this market.

He's not good enough to play for Arsenal in CM (or anywhere else).

I told you Flamini was a better CM than Fellaini. I told you Paulinho was shite and couldn't pass water. Arsenal just showed it up.

After today's match I have to say I don't think Fellaini is what we need...and he won't have a clue what to do in Europe...

The signing of Fellaini will ensure our style of play deteriorates further. We are heading to the dark ages. We shouldn't be looking for large, dirty players who add 'steel.' We need technically excellent and intelligent players. Get used to more aimless long balls. This is truly a depressing time.

I think a hard man is just what we need, we have been lacking since Keane left, but I am not sure if Fellaini is the man we need

Just been told this is a done deal, all over the Belgium press and will be unveiled Monday.
Mind you this was by somebody in Sweden !

The fact that we have had confirmed bids rejected by McCarthy now makes it pretty much nailed on.

Lacking?! We've got to three CL finals since Keane left. And and our midfield needs more than just steel, steel is something Robbie Savage provided.

Ah john, bless your poor, stupid, empty head.

The match today proves that we don't need someone to elbow people, rather a player who can get the ball down and really affect games through the middle.

Insults are not productive, but feel free to make a valid argument against what I have written.

The match today actually proves that it doesn't matter if SAF was in charge or somebody else, we always start our season slow.

Out of interest, how do you think Fellaini will get on at United?

I personally think he will do well here, but as an Everton fan you have obviously watched him in much greater detail than most of us have.

It is unbelievable that around 90% of supporters said before the window opened that we'd probably just buy Fellaini for £23m, yet the club were seemingly intent on that not being the case, and now, at the end of the window, we're going to just buy Fellaini ... for £24m.

Not sure if serious or plain dumb.

Moyes always started slow with Everton, so no, it doesn't prove it regarding "somebody else".

Has nothing to do with signing Fellaini btw.

I completely agree with this and have been saying it too.

If we can find a good midfielder who offers steel like Martinez or Vidal then fine, we should go for him. But bringing steel to our midfield shouldn't be the priority. For that I hope that we'll go for Herrera even if we need to spend 10m more than for Fellaini. I think that Fellaini is better than Cleverley but that's not saying much. He'll improve us a bit but I guess we'll be looking for a new midfielder next summer (or in January again). I think he is playing at his level, for United he could be a good squad option but shouldn't be a starter (although if he's the only addition, he'll be a starter but that's not saying much about his quality as it is for the lack of quality in our midfield).

It has a lot to do with what you said we need.. You're basing your opinion on our start, which has always been poor, even though we still have been the most successful club in the premier league.

I don't see why so many people think this'll be a bad signing. Sure, he isn't the ball playing midfielder we desire but it shouldn't be one or the other. Fellaini and a ball playing midfielder would give us the steel and craft we need.

Wasn't my first choice but people in here are talking like he's Jordan Henderson. He's a very good player who can alter his style of play and most importantly he's a presence, I think we need one, how many times are we bullied in midfield? Would Fellainis presence not perhaps reduce the load on the likes of Carrick and Rooney and allow them greater freedom in their play?
For people crying out for a playmaker, I get that sometimes we look blunt but were we not the league's highest scorers last year? do we not also have Kagawa and Rooney? Yeah we'd love an Ozil but if we get Feillaini it's not this black hole that some are making it out to be.

Because they havent actually watched him properly, not one of them, they think he is a big dumb afro having hoof ball donkey.

Yeah, yeah all the top football posters on the caf are deluded and don't realise he's top banana. Have a word.

Please explain to me why Fellaini isnt a good player

He simply isn't good enough for a team with trophy winning aspirations. He's petulant, lazy and technically limited IMHO. If we buy him to break up play alongside Carrick and A N Other in a midfield 3, then it may paper over the cracks but its not going to bring our midfield up to the level of the teams we are competing with.

Who the feck watched EPL anyway? Everyone who thinks that he shouldn't be what we need likely haven't seen him playing. Right?
