Fellaini (on his way) out? | Duncan Castles: Fellaini agrees new two year deal

You don't need to go that extreme to make your point. Jose could have said about a thousand different things but he chose to say that because he probably means them or it means Young will still sadly be a big player of his.

Or he could have just been bigging up his player?

"Veron is a fecking fantastic player, yous lot dont know what the feck yous are talking about" Sold next summer!

Why not? Other top sides do just that, and we play so many games there's plenty to go around, and it's got nothing to do with giving Fred a chance, he is what he is, and what he is is not a playmaker, we've needed to replace Carrick and we haven't, he's badly missed whenever we play a team that defends deep as we need someone to to keep the tempo of the play and pick the passes, none of the CM's we have will do that, so what we do is resort to long ball, which is a horible idea, it's why the points we dropped last year were mostly vs smaller teams looking for a draw as opposed to bigger teams that gave us space.
Because we have other priorities. We need a RW and LB/CB more than another CM
Also Fred isn't a bad playmaker, he looks like a guy who can pass the ball well
Also let's not underestimate Pogba, in the right setup he can be unstoppable
With Fred Mourinho has tried to get someone who can help unleash Pogba. He is one hell of a player and at his best better then why player we can buy.
Lets try to get the best out of what we have rather then buying new shiny toys every year

When he sees out his contract this lump of shit would have played for Manchester United for 7 years.....let that sink in.

Except we know that Young is already an important player for him and has played a lot of time under Jose. Veron never had the same playing time so it wasn't a surprise he left

If Castles is correct ask yourself the question keep Fellaini or spend upwards of 30m on Arnautovic?

Mate you do realise that he has played important roles in both the major trophies we have won in the last two years right. He was excellent in the Europa Final too.

"The other 3 would be put away by any half decent midfielder getting in the box."
Maybe, maybe not but we would have to buy another midfielder to do that if he's gone, right, which would mean 50 million
I’m not talking about important roles in games - that is very subjective. We all see what we want to see. I was specifically addressing people who said he’s scored a good amount of important goals for us - 6 in 5 years - basically 1 a season - is not a good amount, let’s be real.

Why do we have to buy another midfielder? What’s wrong with a youngster that people have been clamouring for Jose to give a shot to?

You do realize that Fred is that shiny toy you say we don't have to buy

You still haven't told me what he's done.[/QUOTE

I'm more referring to his recent comments in the press that suggested he wanted to leave the club, but now it would appear those comments were merely a ploy on his part to gain a new contract with his current club.

Are you disputing that this what Fellaini's intention all along or that his comments simply failed to lure any potential suitors?

No we dont, but the fact of the matter is with this guy its beyond that. A few posts above this some classy wit has called him a lump of shit.

Who cares? This place can be precious these days.

We also know that Jose isnt an idiot correct? He is quite capable and known to be ruthless when it comes to replacing players. None of us can seriously say we know whats going to happen next season. Its been widely reported we have been actively seeking a LB and Dalot has also played mostly LB.

the meltdown here is simply hilarious, he gives as a good plan B if things do not work out!

The only reason I can muster for hoping this is true, is that they might be thinking they don't need yet another player this summer, in a backup midfielder.
If we don't fill every hole we need before the season starts, then feck them.

I don’t have a problem with him staying, it’s the drama around it I find ridiculous. You’d swear he was a star player. #Ladecisionpart2

Nothing to do with being precious. I just disagree with personal abuse of players who play for our club. Maybe you are comfortable with that.

I am to be honest. It doesn't really matter.
I don't think I'd say it myself unless it's in the heat of the moment, but it doesn't bother me.

Would really like that if true. He is a good squad player and can be very useful in some special roles. I will never forget how he bullied Ajax in the EL final and was basically the best player on the pitch. Also, I like him because he always puts in maximum effort and leaves everything on the pitch. It would have been a shame to lose a decent squad player and spend 20-40 millions for another midfield player who would be most likely a back-up or, even worse, someone like Arnautovic.

Considering the reactions of some football purists in this thread I would even love him to stay at the club.

Matic
Pogba
Fred
Herrera
Fellaini
McTominay
Periera

I still think we will go for one more CM

Never did I hated our player so much. Has no business being at a club like ours - what a monumental feck up by Jose and Woody for allowing this to happen.

Dont get why everyone is getting so salty about him re signing?

Our midfield will be Matic, Pogba and Fred this year with (Herrera, Fellani & Scott Mctominay & Perreria) fighting for the sub spots and sub par games? We cant go signing another 100m midfielder to just sit on the bench. Matic is Joses General and Fred is his new shiny toy. Only player who could leave would be pogba but I doubt that this year.

Keep Fellani as backup with Herrera and save the money for a proper RW or LB which were crying out for!

He was a great manager yeah, but he was terrible at Utd.

I think we can agree on that.
Totally but two of the better / best managers of this era wanted/wants Fellaini to stay. That must mean he's doing something right, right?

Because it was hoped and assumed that Fellaini would leave. Now I suppose we won't buy anyone else which still makes the midfield IMHO not that much better. Time will tell anyway
Again where are we going to play this new CM?

Jose, LVG, Martinez etc all agree.

This point isn't made frequently enough. As far as I can tell, every manager he has played for rates him highly. They're not all going to be wrong, no matter the reactions of FM managers on here.

Still, I find it odd that the club haven't announced his renewal, and why would he be so cryptic about making an announcement Sunday? I still think he will end up at Arsenal.

Well I think we'd have to be successful for that to be proven and Van Gaal clearly was a failure. There's still time for Jose, so we'll see I suppose.
