Hope him staying doesn't block Gomes pathway to the first team?

Hang on...

The Octopus himself said he had already signed a contract with someone and he'll announce it July 1st...

How can he be close to agreeing a deal then with United?

People are saying he's held the club random, that's jumping the gun a little isn't it? We already know the club offered him a new contract which he didn't agree to. How do you know this agreement isn't closer to the clubs demands and not fellainis? Seems to me he thought he'd get a move to a big club, and he couldn't.
Only those that don't understand what a contract is.

He won't stay. No chance.

The guy is crap, and we could save his wages for someone better. We know that, the board knows that and Mourinho knows that.

Relax people.

Day ruiner.

What’s the bet that Fellaini starts against England, injures someone important (probably our Jesse,) gets himself sent off and then announces he’s staying in the following hours.

I’ve thought the criticism of his performances were mostly unfair; right player for a specific role/time, but this contract saga has really sapped him of much of this goodwill. His arrogance irks me. At what point does his position in the squad become untenable?

The replies to his contract announcement on the official United FB page are going to make for an amazing read.

If that is happening, United will withdraw the offer from that.

If true this, combined with the news that we've given up the search for a left back, and with our only signing at right back being a kid we might as well accept we're not challenging City again this year.

He's been bloody trolling us the fecking Tree

Exactly, he's a bench option. So why spend valuable funds this summer in replacing him, if he's there to just do a specific job from the bench.
The "job" he does is shite and no one wants to see us resort to hoofball. He shouldn't need "replacing"

If that is the case I hope he isn't getting the money he was supposedly after because that would be madness from the club.

All I know is we need someone with experience of football matters to help Ed. Jose is not SAF, he shouldn't be given all this power. Retaining the Tree because he can't live without his outdated tactics.
I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't been promised to start some games next season instead of just being a sub.

Contract until 2020? Well, I guess we're due seven good ones after that.

Don't mind him staying but acting hard against certain players & telling them they are free to leave if they want whilst dying to maintain fellaini is pure mind blowing favouritism.

Fellaini is hardly our Plan B - it's not all different to Plan A.

Despite the "look at me! look at me!" drivel in here, this will be an important signing as he can play all three positions as a backup for the first three in Pogba/Fred and Matic. With Herrera/McTominay/Fellaini we have a solid core of grit and grind to supplement the stars.

Bombard Twitter with negative hash tags about someone who gives his all for the shirt?

Pathetic.

Fair enough and that's your opinion. I personally don't think he should be anywhere near the first team either (especially as a midfielder), but I see his value as an option from the bench. Fellaini is one of the few players that can cause any team problems with his aerial ability. So in specific circumstances when we're behind against a compact defence that is very hard to break down, Fellaini could be a solid squad option. On the "replacing" point, Mourinho said so himself that if Fellaini leaves, we'll need a replacement.

Yeah, he may well be on £150k a week, which is slightly ridiculous for a squad player.

Aye, yes just what we want grit and grind. Everyones favourite brand of football.

 It was bound to happen, no one was ever going to agree to his demands except of course us as apparently we see him as some key player. He is a decent player and can be useful in a 25 men squad but that's about it. I just hoped he leaves as he is literally a reminder of Moyes era :(

That was probably going to be the case anyway - they're too far ahead. Won't be much fun seeing him start games in midfield in the Champions League again next season though.

Jose will drag Fellaini back through the door, into our club.
Fellaini is a MUFC player through and through.
While I am not a fan of his, I understand that tactically, having the option of a tall, physical player is important.

Why through and through? Under Ferguson we never had any player of this type.

Even if he renews, I'm sure we will be getting another midfielder? Or did we sign Fred to replace Carrick?
Mourinho said we're signing 1 midfielder but if Fellaini were to leave then we'd be signing a second.

This better bloody mean we spend big on a LB and RW though. No excuses.

Looking more like it'll be a CB and RW.

Agreed.

We just have to bombard social media with #sackfellaini - get it trending!
The club know how unpopular Fellaini is with the fans. A hashtag isn't going to change a thing other than make the fans look like idiots.
