Another red arrow (67p) and the bad start of the season continues.

Chelsea fecking it up hurt me and my defense is just looking worse and worse as the season contiues. This is the team for GW5 where I will roll a transfer:

Turner (Johnstone) (I might be forced to do a GK transfer next GW if Johnstone looks to drop in price)
Chillwell, Estupinan, Gvardiol (Baldock, Botman) (What can I say? It's a mess)
Saka, Bruno, Foden, Sterling (Mbeumo)
Haaland(C), Watkins, Jackson

Me leaving out Spurs players has hurt me. I still think they are massively overrated and their GW6 and 7 fixtures are not very tempting to go for.
I've also timed my transfers really bad this season:

1. Preseason: Missed the Gabriel news and started the season with him.
2. GW2 Mitoma to Maddison (So far so good)
3. GW3 Maddison to Foden (After Maddison was flagged and it looked like he might struggle to get ready for the next game, I went for Foden instead of Sterling who instantly repayed me by getting benched with the "shitters" while Maddison started, scored and secured bonus points and Sterling hauled a 19-pointer).
GW3 (-4) Gabriel to Gvardiol (Started, but they conceeded a late goal against SHU and he didn't get a single minute against Fulham.)
GW3 (-8) Darwin to Jackson (Darwin has 4 returns in the last 2 games, Jackson has 1....)
4. GW4 Rashford to Sterling and Anderson to Mbeumo - Rashford scoring Sterling blanking....

Now Botman and Baldock with injury doubts, Gvardiol not playing last game and Turner/Johnstone both with deadline day competitors threatening their starting spots.
I will try my best to save my wildcard to the next international break, but let's see how the next few gameweeks turn out first.

Plan for GW6 is to use my 2 free transfers on buying and deadending Kaminski (Luton) into the WC and get Watkins out for one of Darwin, Jesus or Isak based on what happens this weekend.

Thoughs?

Not deterred by my insistence on keeping Martial for about 20 GWs last season, I've swapped out Jackson for Højlund. Feel free to call me an idiot!

My entire GW hinges on Spurs and Chelsea this week. Not sure that's a good place to be.

If Chelsea let me down again then Sterling/Jackson are definitely next for the chop. Plenty of great options to move to in a single move with £1.1m in the bank.

Who will you be moving Jackson out for? I was thinking about Morris but not sure I'll want him after the double and it might be 2-3 GWs before I WC.

Yeah probably Morris. Can't resist a dgw punt. He's also got Wolves at home in GW6 and Forest in GW9. I'd bench him GW8 and play Archer possibly though I have a full squad now so plenty of options to change formation. It also frees up another £1.5m so I can get in Bruno or Rashford if we start to click (for Sterling).

Also still really like Alvarez though worried the boat might have been missed on that.

Yeah but that's my worry, if Luton are gonna be actually worth having even with those fixtures, because they kinda feel like Norwich of old and I can see teams like Fulham, Wolves, Forest and also Everton and Burnley in the double outdoing them. So apart from the double I wouldn't wanna waste an attacker spot on a Luton player. I think it depends on how my WC plan goes, and also of course how Luton play in the next two games which should be good fixtures for them. As of now not completely sold on getting him. And Jackson plays Fulham and Burnley in 7 and 8 if I am not wrong.

You do realise we are advice Burnley yes?

Yeah he does but he looks like a complete donkey.

Also I'm not bothered if Luton are beaten by any of those teams as long as Morris grabs a couple of returns. You say Norwich of old but Pukki was a great pick at certain times. I'm not advocating a defender or mid here just their talisman who has a good set of fixtures for an attacker.

That said I can actually turn Archer into him next week instead if Jackson finally manages to find a route to goal. I will be taking a chance on him in the double though.

Currently am set up like below

Onana
Chilwell Gusto Saliba
Rashy Bruno Saka Maddo
Wissa Haaland Jackson

Mitoma, Estu, Kabore.

2 transfers to tweak things around, 101.3m team value. 0.3m in the bank

Rashy could go directly to Son, but Rashy has just started to get some points and has a decent run ahead.

Could also do Bruno and Jackson to Son and Alvarez exactly.

Tottenham have a great fixture, 2 terrible ones, then 3 great ones again.

Didn't get you there.

Yeah the Pukki comparision is what I had in mind as well. Let's see. And yeah, I'll be more comfortable having his as the 8th attacker and only bringing him in during the double. Re: Jackson, not a huge fan of owning him but the fixtures mean he's still a hold. I might be interested in a DGW keeper if Turner loses his spot which is looking likely.

Also the fact that I am likely not gonna captain Morris in the DGW makes him a bit less essential. Wait and watch for now.

Everyone keeps saying Spurs have terrible fixtures in GW6 and 7. Do they? For attackers I mean? Can see them scoring in both personally.
I went in with 3 attackers in the Arsenal - United game and all 3 returned, so it's not that big a deal for me either. With the way this new manager is playing, he's just gonna attack both those teams and neither of these defenses look watertight. And if they play on counter then Son could be fun.

Didn't get you there.
Sorry I meant above.

The thing with Son is:

If I get him now I get that tasty fixture against shef but need to get rid of Bruno or Saka.

If I wait another week, I can skip Liverpool and Arse fixtures and then get rid of sterling right before his fixture swing...

Yeah either is fine, depends how much you think he is gonna get in those games if he is playing up front which is looking quite likely. I don't think Richarlison will come back in the team anytime soon. Son up front in a team that is attacking like crazy is more likely to be a no brainer, but obviously really small sample size. Do you have Maddision though? In my opinion if you have double united and no spurs you should sell one of the united attackers for Son, but if you have maddison it is less necessary.

Yeah I got Maddison. It's Bruno that's annoying me. He was seen last game but United have good fixtures and Hojlund a target for him now.

In that case you can keep your mids, but honestly it's not easy to say that you can be patient in this case given the quality of the player and that his ceiling in this role is potentially way too high. So be prepared of losing a good few points in those 3 games. I'd be inclined to sell Bruno if I was in your position but like I said I already sold him before. Also don't think in their current state Man United will find either Brighton or Palace as easy games. Brighton are a mental attack and keep a ton of the ball and Palace have a pretty good record against them as well. Personally I don't think we should be giving two midfield spots to that team, when you have other teams firing a lot more.

It's a tough one and one I'll leave until the last minute. Son just feels like the sexier pick and this year I promised myself I will ignore logic and play on instinct.

There is a lot more to it than him scoring a hat trick. It’s a player with a very high ceiling, scoring a hat trick in an extremely attacking side, at home, against one of the worst sides in the league. I am absolutely with you and am going through with it.

feck it I'm doing it. Captain and everything.
Do it!
I'm not going to myself, but I will be very happy for you when he scores another PL hattrick this weekend. It will be his 4th in 273 PL-games (106 goals [183 minutes per goal] and 58 assists [334 minutes per assist] total).
Son has played 49 games as a #9 in the PL: 23 goals and 11 assists including his hattrick against Burnley.
He had 7 straight games without a goal before the Burnley game.....
He's a great player though and it probably is the best shot at making a profitable captaincy punt before the next international break.

The rest of us will probably play it safe and back the guy who scored twice at Stratford in his PL debut and has 5 hattricks and 6 braces in his first 39 PL-games (42 goals [74 minutes per goal] and 9 assists [347 minutes per assist] in 39 games)

Good luck! ;)

Can't wait to quote this on Saturday.

I'm more worried about not having Maddison than Son. Seems to be central to everything they do.

My only real option is to swap Saka for Maddison. My worry is Saka is due to hit a few points and Everton are poor.

How many socks do you wear while having sex?

But have you considered that those stats are under different systems and managers? For example Son is averaging 9 touches in the box this season as compared to 3.5 in the season he won the golden boot.

Condescending post that doesn’t account for new manager and a new Spurs and Son playing in a completely different role.

People get so lost in stats sometimes. Most of these are irrelevant to the current situation.

I can answer that for him. 2 white (dirty at the toes) Lonsdale socks.

My treat, guys.

Like I said: It's probably the best opportunity to go against Haaland in a while. Could definitely end up being a +points decision, but could also and up with the 95% of the field gaining ground on you.

When it comes to the question asked: I got a zipper in my pants, that's all I need.....I dont own white socks, that's you talking about yourself, Dirty Schwein.

Nah mate, I saw you buy some at Sports Direct. Only a person that wears socks during sex goes template. I know... I was that guy last year

I'm not trying to be condescending at all. Fact is that Son might very well outscore Haaland in GW5. There's a decent chance for that, absolutely. That said I think there's a bigger chance that Haaland outscores Son, and with 100% ownership and 95% captaincy on him from the top 1M managers you are more likely to lose ground rather than the other way around. If both are injuryfree there is no world where Son outscores Haaland in the long run.

This post is going to come back and bite me in the ass, but nothing makes me happier than to hear some will captain Son and not Haaland. As a Haaland captainer I need to catch up.

I'm 50/50. On Haaland at moment but you know I'm all about the cash leagues and the guy above me has both as well. He had Son for his hatty last week but was on the Haaland train like everyone else. I wonder if he'll take a punt this week on Son, in which case Haaland for me is the differential.

I just think it’s interesting just that a lot of the founders of these stat sites don’t actually do that well themselves.

They end up paying other managers who are good at the game to promote their services.

Stats can be useful but can also become stale or misleading very, very quickly in football.

Even this West Ham game in isolation. They are a different team with a completely different midfield and there will be different players around Haaland too.

He might smash it, but there are so many variables that the punt is more than viable and the stats themselves mean very little.

Interestingly algorithms like FPL review have Son on higher xP than Haaland. I guess they would have taken historical data into account that you were talking about @troylocker
