Fantasy Premier League 22/23

Look at you putting your physical health and well-being ahead of the FPL deadline!

It's a 1mile race up a 680 feet hill :D

I dare say the only thing more painful than those last min decisions.
In fairness, it's at 7pm, so i could still be on my phone up to 6.30 before hand :D

Driving to Wales for a mad running race tomorrow evening, so no last min shenanigans for me.

Have 2 ideas at the moment.

Ward Iversen (gambling they don't sign another keeper)
TAA James Cancelo Tripper Williams
Salah Diaz Grealish Martinelli Andreas
Kane/Haaland, Jesus Greenwood

Option B is
Robertson instead of Williams for a power 5 at the back
Bailey instead of Diaz (this would give a difficult benching decision week 1 as would have to play 5 at the back, front 2 obvious, so 1 decent mid left benched.

Haaland has an insane run of fixtures from week 2. Kane has a superb fixture week 1. I'm certain loads who have Kane (27% to start the season) will move to Haaland unless the first week score is hugely in Kane's favour, so would have to do the transfer early knockings.#

@Dirty Schwein @Moby and the usual crew, what we thinking of these 2 options.
Rashy could be an option instead of Grealish, but with City's fixtures I'd be nervous. Think United are a sit and watch job.
Dias is a good place holder for an 8m as well as being a big threat himself, but we think Robertson will outscore him for 1m less...

Your first team is fine - very template. I would take Robertson over Diaz and then take a different 8.0m. And I thought Grealish looked really poor last week.

Agree on your Kane / Haaland analysis - I think the risk if you go Haaland and Kane outscores him is there will be a big flight in ownership and Haaland’s price will drop quickly (as his ownership is much higher, and I think he’s the casual pick). Would give you a real headache at the start of the season, particularly if Haaland looks poor again.

Ward Iversen
TAA Cancelo Gabriel Dalot Williams
Salah Son Neto Bailey Andreas
Jesus Haaland Greenwood

Thoughts?

On this as well with Walker instead of Gabriel.

Considering something like this too - the Leicester situation is just about enough to make it viable.

I’d suggest moving Son to Kane tough and playing a 433 instead - saves you 0.5m for similar output and also gives you a playing 4.5m mid as a sub, instead of the dregs at that price point in attack.

If I have Robertson instead of Dias, I can only go to 5m for a mid, not 8m, unless I either lose another big defender, or do extra surgery to mids and defence.

What’s with obsession with ward suddenly

Schmeichel going.
Means Leicester will have a starter 4m keeper. So you pick both of their 4m keepers and can't go wrong.

Unless they concede loads.
Or buy another keeper.
Or you start one, he gets injured on 59, and the other comes on.

Apart from all that.

Whats this about Doherty injury!? I don't really want Walker but looks like the move to make at this stage.

Half way up and oblivious as Salah gets injured and you left the VC on Neto :D

Surely Tottenham are a bit like United - a wait and see job to start the season.
Perisic is the high ceiling IF he starts regularly.

Ward - Iverson
TAA - James - Trippier - Perisic - Williams
Salah - Sancho - Diaz - Martinelli - Bailey
Haaland - Jesus - Greenwood

Thoughts on this please? I’ve not much experience playing fantasy football and could do with some pointers. Also torn between switching Martinelli out for Rashford what do we think?

Yeah I don’t mean as a 1:1 swap - I just mean in general I’d be taking TAA/Robertson/Salah as your three Liverpool slots.

Unless you’re going three premiums you’ll want a 8.0 mid slot to jump on whichever one is in form.

So in your situation I’d probably go something like James to Robertson, Diaz to Mount/Kulu and then Grealish to someone cheaper to fund the 1m.

Looks solid. Just the doubt about will Perisic play, but put Bailey first sub to cover it, and hope he features regularly next week on.

Nice and balanced that. We all hope one of United's attackers smashes it, but we can't be sure who.

And obviously Kane v Haaland. Former, great first game (although typically starts slow, but is against utterly sh!te Southamton who are ripe for a smashing), and Haaland has an incredible week 2 run onwards.

I am going with it. Not sure about any of the 4.5s and have no interest in taking up a Liverpool/City space with a GK. I think it’s worth the shot and then onto Pope with the wildcard after he gets those tough games over him.

I just want tomorrow to hurry up so that I can stop looking at the team, making transfers but not actually clicking the make transfers button and then coming back an hour later to redo it all over again ffs.

Opinions. Current team:

Raya
Cash - Roberton - Burn - Cancelo - Dalot
Salah - Son - Sancho
Jesus - Wilson

Bench: Sanchez, Bailey, Broja and Pereira

Option 2:

Ward
Cash - Robertson - TAA - Cancelo - Dalot
Salah - Son - Sancho - Neto
Jesus

Bench: Raya, Bailey, Archer and Greenwood

I'm leaning towards the second. Issue is very little to rotate off of the bench when needed.

If the race started before the deadline it'd be a great incentive to get up there

Select only Forest/Everton/Southampton/Bournemouth players, confirm, and then leave the phone at the top:lol:

Yep, it's one of those rare presents that the fantasy footy world gives us.
A lot of people love a bit of 4.5m rotation, so a given that your 4m man plays each week has to be taken up.

I think I've missed the deadline once, and then that one last year where the server crashed 15mins before the deadline, leaving me with 8 players.
You don't forget these things.
Team set now!

Ward - Iverson
TAA - Robertson - Cancelo - Gabriel - Trippier
Salah (C) - Mahrez - Martinelli
- Bailey - Andreas
Kane - Jesus - Archer

Only two things I'd say I'm uncomfortable about:
Triple Arsenal - I mean it's an accident waiting to happen. Considering swapping Gabriel for Walker for extra city coverage or Cash/Digne from Villa.
Mahrez - feel with their fixtures I should have a City attacker and I'm happy with my decision of Kane > Haaland. But feck me he'll be benched at least once a month won't he.

Is triple City defence too much? I do want Trippier/Cash/Spurs DF later down the line but not to start the season.

Ederson
TAA Robertson Cancelo Walker Gabriel

Ward - Iverson

I would go with Mount for the start of the season for that 8m option. Move to a Mahrez/Foden/Grealish if they are constants.

Cuccurella seems to be going to Chelsea now, not City!?
James over Chilwell for sure then, and Cancelo stays an essential.

I would say white and Williams will both return you some delicious 2 pointers from the first two fixtures. You have to ask yourself if it’s worth it, especially when an early wildcard is an option.

I know, but look at that front 5. FIVEMIUM?

Switch James to Walker and upgrade Williams to Dier?

————————-Ward
TAA - Walker - Trippier - White - Dier
——————Salah - Sancho
——-----Kane - Jesus - Haaland

I just don’t trust United, but if Sancho hits, you could do very well! I am in a Threemium too and will stick with it. I think it’s definitely workable. It all rides on those 3-4 cheaper picks and what they can do.

For me, there are plenty of players who could stick close to the 8 millions (140 - 170 points) if you get the right fixtures. Some 4.5s got 120+ last season!

But no one is doing what the premiums do and guaranteeing regular returns. You wouldn’t be surprised if the premiums hit 5-6 goals between them on the opening day. I think that’s more exciting than making sure I have a slot for Mason Mount.

Very happy with what I have at present. Can't see me tweaking much between now and deadline.

Ramsdale Ward
TAA Robertson Cancelo James Trippier
Salah Martinelli Neto Bailey Andreas
Kane Jesus Greenwood

My team is identical to yours, except that I have Perisic instead of Trippier. But with there now being doubts over Perisic starting at the weekend, I might make that switch, too...

If you're miles down the overall standings you won't be beating your mates though. And the reason everyone is picking the same players for the most part is because they're good picks. Don't ask for opinions on your team if you're going to have a meltdown when people tell you how bad it is.
Who's having a meltdown?

Funny that is the last switch I made. Think Perisic could be a slight trap whereas Trippier could be the new Aaron Cresswell with assist, free kick potential and inevitable bonus

I wanted to start with Son, but if I change to Kane, I can get a 5.0, which I much prefer, over a 4.5 at the back (you also get the bonus of not having a dud on the bench)

However, my plan was to do Son to de Bruyne for the Scott Parker Massacre in Week 2, which I wouldn’t be able to do now.

Should I go with the 5.0 and Kane, or should I gamble on the 4.5, Son/de Bruyne swap?

Is Neco Williams likely to play? I don’t massively like the idea of having two non playing subs.

I want to find space for Dalot as the fifth defender, think there’s potential for him to be well worth 4.5 if we don’t sign anyone.

I really want Saka over Martinelli but to do that im having Sanchez / Dalot over Ramsdale / James

Deep down it feels wrong

It'd be mad if he doesn't start, with Forest having shelled 17m out on him!
