Fantasy Premier League 22/23

Just think there's a lot of value in some of the cheaper options this season. I'm planning to drop TAA once I see who plays regularly, for a 4m bench player, and upgrade the midfield to son/salah or attack to Kane.

If I was to stick with this team, is it worth playing the bench boost GW1?

You'll be lucky to finish in the top 5m with that strategy. Wasting a bunch of money on the bench and dropping Trent is ridiculous.

Have loose GW1BB ideas but it completely depends on that Leicester goalkeeper situation being clear and one or two other bits of team news. If not then I'm sticking to a template draft.

Do I need to downgrade one of (the admittedly risky choices of) Grealish or Sterling to improve the defence? I do fancy a punt on Sterling especially.

Ok I think my final team will be:

Ward
TAA - Botman - Cancelo - Dalot
Salah - Sancho - Martinelli
Jesus - Kane - Darwin

Iversen, Dewsbury-Hall, Neco Williams, Andreas

I'm not 100% happy with Martinelli as I think he's a rotation risk but there's not much else for 6m. I do also risk Leicester buying a keeper and being stuck with two 4.0s but we'll see.

Botman and Dalot are good options at 4.5 I think. Both could increase in value over the season.

Any week can work for bench boost, but I think doubles doubles the chances of returns on average for everyone playing doubles. It can just be tricky to bring in the right players for those doubles.

I don't like Conte's comments on Perisic. Don't know whether to go James or Doherty.

I really like Sterling as a pick. He's getting overlooked a lot as his price is awkward but his stats are the same as Mane's for the past couple of seasons and he'll play most league games now. He could have the same value as Son last season in that Son was £10.5m last season but £12m now.
Saying that ive gone with Mount.

With Grealish you're leaving yourself in the hands of Pep roulette. He'll not play 90 minutes much.

Pretty settled on my team, Haaland and Kane will go to the wire.

Current squad
5-3-2
Ward
(Iversen )

TAA
Cancelo
James
(N.Williams & Patterson)
Walker
Perisic

Luis Diaz
Salah
Bailey Martinelli
Neto)
(Andreas)

Jesus
Kane/Haaland
Martial (Archer)

Thinking of switching to a back 5...

Im nearing my final team.

Ward (Leicester) and Sanchez (Brighton) rotate well as keepers.
I did have TAA, Digne, Perisic for a while there in a 3-5-2 with Luis Diaz in midfield but have Robertson and Zaha in instead now.
Robertson should be in with a good chance of clean sheets and assists.

No Spurs is the only thing. I cant get a team I like with Salah and Son. Dont like 2x £4.5m strikers and Haaland has a great run of fixtures. Captain material in week 2.
I also wouldnt captain a Spurs players in week 1 or week 2 anyway.

Id prefer Saka over Martinelli but I cant get to him.
I feel its a less risky team than other teams I had as its easy to downgrade any part of the team to get in players who are doing well.
Robertson could go for a £4.5m-£5m at any time. Zaha can go for a £5.5m-£6m who starts well. Same with the strikers.

If I went with Neto, Bailey, Almiron or Digne etc and they're crap im stuck with them for the forseeable.

4-4-2

Ward

TAA-Robertson-Walker-Perisic (or Doherty)

Salah-Zaha-Martinelli-Mount

Jesus- Haaland

Bench: Sanchez, Andreas, Patterson, Archer.

Looks great and rationale checks out.

I'm back to a Threemium again

Ward-Sanchez
TAA-Perisic-Walker-Trippier-Williams
Salah-Martinelli-Bailey-Andreas-Colback
Kane-Haaland-Jesus

4-3-3 ... £0.5m in the bank

Can use that somewhere else in GW2 rather than Kane to Haaland and also the negative of not having a third Liverpool player could be a positive if Darwin bangs.

Only pick there I don't particularly like is Zaha. Arsenal, Liverpool and City in his first four games is a bit too sour for my taste.

What's everyone's team name?

I've come up with Flock Of SiuuGoals but Ronaldo is ruining that at the moment.

I'm back to a Threemium again

Its a personal thing but I prefer a stronger midfield. You can also only captain 1 of the threemium per week. You could get better value from e.g. 2 players than 1 of them.
God knows though, ive been looking at it for so long in the past week I dont know right from wrong anymore.

Yeah, I think I'm willing to take the risk on Sterling. If it works, brilliant, if it doesn't, he's a very easy switch to the 8.0 that emerges as the must-have, letting me upgrade when fighting another fire in the team. Wouldn't be surprised if I ended up doing Sterling+Grealish > e.g. Diaz+Saka in GW3. Maybe I should just do that now...

With Grealish, I am just tempted by him as the best 7.0 or lower. I really don't fancy Neto or Bailey. Maybe Rashford... but again, not convinced.

Mate, I couldn't give a feck where I finish in the overall standings, I only have to beat a few of my mates. And that's not going to happen if we all pick the same players.

I'm going to focus more on maximising returns from good fixtures. I may stick with trent and drop Robertson, it really depends on who I want to upgrade to in midfield and how much they cost.

I went for Saliba over Dalot
Yeah I had to reset the password despite not having forgotten it, only reason I can figure is they changed password requirements and mine didn't fulfill them anymore.
A load of accounts got hacked last year i think i remember so we were made to update them.

Rate My Team

ITB - 1.5 Million

Mendy
White TAA Dias
Mount Sancho Mahrez Saint-Maxim
Jesus Nunez Kane

Sanchez Williams Patterson Andreas

Tempted to swap Kane to Mbeumo and Saint-Maxim to Salah leaving 0.5 ITB. (I like to have a small bit saved for gw1 transfer)

Such a risk not having Salah.

He's scored on every GW1 and is playing a Fulham team who lost 5-1 to Benfica.

I checked and a lot of Arsenal fans were saying he might not start over White despite his pre-season form.

But at 13 million that's a lot of money. Not sure if the value is there or not. Plus i think the goals will be a bit more shared out for Liverpool this year with Diaz and Nunez getting a lot too.

I agree though that that's the risk. Get Salah and play it safe or go for a differential. I could easily swap him in for Kane who doesn't usually do well in August anyway

He is a deeper midfielder rather than a #10 so less GI. Also there are better players at this price point who had a better preseason. And last season was too small a sample size to go off.

I feel he changed their whole season no? Didn't look too flukey. Think you need one newcastle in there, and if you're already sorted on defence and don't want double Arsenal attack (Martenelli with Jesus), he the best in that range. Certainly better than the wolves lot.

I read Tomiyasu picked up a knock and that Ben White had moved to right back, infact Tomiyasu hasn't started a preseason game according to an article i just read (im taking it as gospel). Ill keep looking at it.

I think people overvalue some players and necessities quite a lot.

Take, for example, the two of the best 8 million options and their scores from last year, Saka and Mount 169 + 179 points = 348 total.

Son got 258 points on his own! After starting the season under Nuno!

You ask yourself, can I find a cheap 4.5 midfielder to get over a 100 points? Well yeah, there are 10 in the game who did that last year.

Threemium it is to start with!

This is for draft and so price is not an issue.

I need to choose two from Zaha, Coutinho, Martinelli, Barnes, Odegaard, Harrison, Benrahma or Man City rotation risks like Bilva, Grealish, Rodri, Foden, Gundogan

Decided to dispense with Salah and Son. Banking in Cucurella getting his move and Dalot being a starter & maybe being good.

DDG, Ward
Robertson, Cancelo, Dalot, Cucurella, Williams

Diaz, Sancho, Kulusevski, Andreas, Murhpy

Jesus, Kane, Haaland

One thing I would say though is last season Salah and Son got 265 & 258 points respectively. I am not sure Diaz, Sancho, and Kulusevski will be making those kinds of numbers. Diaz gets subbed a lot.

Might take Kane out again and get Salah or Son back in there.
