Fantasy Premier League 22/23

I managed to narrow this down to Salah + Premium Defense + Vardy OR 2 Premiums (Salah + Kane/Haaland)

Draft A: Salah + Premium Defense + Vardy:
4.5 (4.0)
TAA Robertson Cancelo James Perisic
Salah Mount/Saka Rashford/Martinelli (Pereira 4.5)
Jesus Vardy (4.5)

Draft B: Salah + Kane/Haaland
4.5 (4.0)
TAA Robertson Trippier James Perisic
Salah Mount/Saka Rashford/Martinelli (Pereira 4.5)
Jesus Kane/Haaland

I am tempted going with your first def.

Although not sure about James fully and Perisic early subs scare me.

The ceiling with those picks really high and even if they do not score those top 4 teams can keep clean sheet in any game.

Yeah, I'm watching Perisic's development at the moment. I have him now because he played 75 mins yesterday. Why are you not sure about James, what am I missing?

Yup I watched him for a bit yesterday and it was insane how far advanced Perisic and Doherty were.

Ahead of Kane, Kulu, Son etc in parts

Feel like you have to get them in over a 5.5M midfielder but Nico Williams is such a great enabler that I don't want to miss out on a 4M starter.

Feel like jumping on the Darwin Nunez bandwagon this morning, a chunk cheaper than Kane and haaland. Might be worth the risk.

Well with James I fear him playing central defender and Chelsea pre season form worry me a little bit.

Then again I rather have him than Rashford I think or Bruno G, Trippier etc.

Chelsea usually not conceding high XG and good defensive stats and James and Chilwell are amazing wingbacks.

Now in my draft I got Bailey on my bench and Pereira that I could play over either James or Perisic if I want.

I could also bring in Walker if I want.

If Bailey and Pereira are benched which I am not expecting then maybe I am forced to early wildcard in gameweek 3.

Just traded Haaland out for Kane. Probably a terrible move but Kane is as close to a sure thing as you can get whereas Haaland may take a while to gel.

I've had Kane throughout but now thinking of switching to Haaland :)

To be honest, its such a tight call but I might just favour Haaland due to the early fixtures.

Getting both in ( with Salah ) just seems to weaken the overall squad so i'm now against that idea.

So many different permutations this year its hard to know what the right way might be.

Yeah, agreed. I'm sure I'll also back and forth a few more times before kick off. Also tossing around the idea of going no premiums up top and getting sterling or son in mf. Ugh...headache.

I'm leaning more towards a heavy threemium draft.

It's completely unbalanced and unsustainable, but then I don't actually want to sustain it. I just want to have Salah in general, Kane at home to Southampton and Haaland at home to Bournemouth. At that point it's easy to rebalance with 2fts if one of them hasn't impressed. And if they're all firing then that's one of those good problems.

I'm also less keen on the 8m mids than I was. There are great picks there in general but I'm not overly convinced on any of them for GW1.

Nearly 7 out of 10 teams you check will have Jesus in with an ownership of 68.5%.

Has there ever been a player with a higher ownership than that? Who is comfortable not putting him in for that price and value?

I think Salah last season before AFCON was 70%

Hmmmm I keep looking at my team and getting itchy feet.

Currently debating which of the following to go with in defence;

James and Jansson

or

Perisic and Gabriel

Also feel I am the only person not to have Jesus! Instead I have Martial, Haaland and Greenwood in attack... hmmm!

It’s crazy, I’m sure he was under 40% when I first had him, then he scored twice in the first pre season game and his ownership just sky rocketed. Let’s see if he has a better season than Shaw who I’m sure was the highest owned player going into GW1 last season (shouldn’t be too difficult)

I would go Perisic and Gabriel,

Being different can be a good thing, called differential :smirk:

Seeing a lot jump on Darwin. The way he was at the end of every single Liverpool chance was pretty scary but then there's Firmino who may still start. Having a 9m player not starting would hurt bad, but that ceiling is massive if they continue to keep him as the focal point.

Not sure how this will impact Salah as well, who did come out with his usual G+A yesterday and looked fine.

The Origin of Species draft

Sanchez
Trent Walker James Perisic
Salah Saka Bailey
Kane Jesus Darwin
Kind of similar to mine, its a good team.

Whats your view of Chelsea though? If Tuchel plays 442 at the start of the season I wonder if James and Chilwell are going to represent value over say Doherty.

I just put in James in there because I had funds left, can easily have Trips or Dias or someone in there.

As for Chelsea, they are playing 3 at the back but yeah I've been off James given he still might end up playing RCB especially in games like Spurs where you need him in defense, plus they are short in that area. Thing with him is though the upside is so huge it takes one or two games of him going off. If you don't really need to use funds elsewhere just start with him and play the template and see what happens.

The first question is though, is it ok to have Darwin over Robbo? I think no.

Well do you think Darwin will do well for bonus? Or will he score a goal and get 6 points with TAA and Robertson getting bonus in say a 2-0 win.

For me he's just too much of a doubt to start GW1 unless Klopp says otherwise. And even in GW3 when they face us, would it be that much of a surprise if Klopp opts for the more experienced Firmino away at Old Trafford?

And if he does start I'd certainly expect him to come off shortly after the 60min mark given he's yet to play 60min in pre-season, let alone a full 90min.

Meanwhile you have Salah, TAA and Robertson who are all absolutely nailed on quality picks competing with Nunez for that Liverpool spot.

That's all good till he starts banging in those chances and we are all tied up with Robertson and no way to get him without making a couple of moves. Klopp's been bigging him up so I definitely think he will start enough times.

Normally a wait and watch works out as long as you have a straight route of bringing someone in like say Haaland for Kane, but in this case you either have to go with him from GW1 or wait for the first WC.

Would you rather double up on City defense or Liverpool’s defense? Already have Cancelo and TAA. Thinking if I should add either Dias or Matip.

I'm currently on
Ederson
TAA Perisic Cancelo Robertson
Salah Bailey Odegaard Rashers
Jesus Kane

Bench: GK (4.0) Wiliams, Andreas, Taylor

Thoughts?

Am i crazy for considering dropping Jesus?

Jesus + Martial + Son + Diaz + Ebiowei
Or
Kane + Nunez + Saka + Rashford + Bailey

Have Sancho, Martinelli and Haaland as dead certs

Only started looking at this the other day and rejigged my team to bring in Darwin for Haaland but after reading here he's not played more than 60 mins in a match in pre-season I'm all at sea again. He's really not nailed on to start, is he?

I think I'm still ok even if he's benched though:

Ramsdale (Sanchez)
James TAA Cancelo Perisic
Salah Martinelli Sancho
Darwin Jesus Martial

Subs: Bailey Pereira B. Williams

I'm keeping on eye on Sancho and will swap him out if there's no word on his illness. If I go Sancho -> Neto I can bring Kane/Haaland in. I'm leaning toward Kane on that now.

What do you think? Neto + Kane a better option than Sancho+Nunez?

I think you need one of Kane or Son. Maybe salah and Nunez is overkill?

You are crazy. Jesus is nailed on with a point to prove.
I know he's been on fire in preseason and I think he's probably a good bet to start with, but I think Darwin will outscore him when he gets going. I've never played fantasy football beyond about four weeks, but this year I've got more riding on it. Is it a good idea to have a stringer squad or starting 11?
