Fantasy Premier League 22/23

Certain minutes + penalties + being a talisman player always greedy for goals are enough for me to be convinced he's still the best Pool asset by far, even if he indeed might end up being outscored by the strikers. Then again, I can't be bothered to predict the tool of Klopp and his rotation, it put me off Jota last GW and I probably won't him in 33 either. Hopefully avoiding him pays off, but it's a gamble - EO will be high. I'm also very worried going without TAA, but if I buy him now, I can't afford Salah.

The benching dilemma is real for everyone this GW I guess. I can only play one of Shaw (tot), Mac Allister (nfo) or Saka (mci). It's between the midfielders but really a coin flip there, I think City's defence is rather bad and Arsenal has to go quite offensively, they need a win no matter what. It's Pep derby though, and the Poundland Lego version has 0% chance of a good result against his master, so playing Arsenal assets over a Brighton lad facing dire Forest feels like lunacy. Tough stuff

I'm benching Mac Allister over Saka this week. Like you said they've got to get a win. Shaw on the bench as well for me, simply because Estu, Trippier and Chilwell all have the better fixtures.

Assuming most are wildcarding this week ahead of 34? I really can’t be bothered to sort my team out on a Monday.

Wondering pros and cons myself.

Pro is you can get TAA, Jota and Salah in early doors, as West Ham are still poor.

Downside is you've got to commit to the United and City players you want now, when a few will be at the risk of injury and rotation. And anything can happen and you're firefighting.

Also, any wildcard you do needs to cover the teams doubling 34 and 37 really if possible. Although Brighton and United are both.

With City’s tight schedule in mind, how safe is KdB to start both games in DGW34?

It’s either him or Alvarez for me

Wildcard team is surely 3x City/United/Brighton/Newcastle/Liverpool.

If I had one still I'd have the exact money for this...

DDG / Steele
Schar / Trippier / TAA / AWB / Stones
Grealish / Salah / Rashy / Mitoma / March
Jota / Haaland / Isak

Well it would've needed a -8 to do that so in that scenario even if I'd have captained Saka I'd have been 20+ points worse off and without Haaland and another dgw mid I'd need to bring back in.

It's ok to just admit that you were wrong. :)

Sorry hang on, if you’d just done Chilwell to TAA and capped Saka what would your score have been…?

Building my WC team, I have to chase in all the leagues I am in so need to go with unobvious choices. The gaps are mostly manageable, the highest being 80 and the lowest at 35 but I won’t get there by having the same team. I still have BB while my opponents don’t, and they don’t have WC but some have kept FH for GW34.

At present my draft is:

Ederson Leno
TAA Konate Lindelof Dunk Coufal
KDB Antony Rashford March Mitoma
Haaland Jota Isak

+ £1.4m in the bank.

I have hard time putting Salah in the team as it would mean sacrificing KDB and he’s my wild card for the chase. I could do Antony to Bruno but here again I’m trying to get some edge and that would also have me compromise other areas.

My concerns are playing time for Konate and Lindelof in defense, possibility of Jota rotating in and out and also low points potential for Ederson as compared to City defenders. I could do Ederson+Konate to Dias+Alisson without exceeding budget but then I’ll just be mad when Dias is inevitably benched. I think there is way more risk of rotation for Dias than Konate… or is there not?

on WC I'd probably skip Antony (numbers just not there, though interesting differential) and Konate (Pool terrible in defence, only makes sense to go for defs with attacking potential). Most nailed in City defence IMO are Ederson and Stones. I'd be tempted to have at least one Newcastle defender - Trippier has been underperforming lately, but is highly owned and can score big time!

That's a good question. I'd guess KDB is still anyhow nailed, but with Pep you never know. I'm not getting him now anyway, so will reassess closer to DGW34.

Konate and Antony sticks out for me as bad/unstable choices (Liverpool leak goals). Ederson and Steele good ones (Steele might have another double later on)

I’d want at least one newcastle defender for their double gameweek later on too unless you have a plan go get one in easily. You might lose points to your rivals if they all have Trippier.

I would grab Steele immediately but I’m not sure he’s going to be first choice for all these games. If Steele was certain to play or Ferguson were available it would be so much easier for me.

I will get Trippier and another defender for their double (unless it’s earlier than 36?).

I think I need Antony. He’s been getting more shots recently, we don’t have cups to worry about for the rest of season anymore and his place in first team is pretty much cemented. He will probably not get me all that many points but if I am to catch up on an 80-point gap it’s only through getting players nobody else has.

I was thinking Alvarez in for Jota, and no City defenders but there may be games where he doesn’t even come on, especially in the double.

Alternate idea I came up with:

Ederson Steele
TAA Lindelof Burn Konate Coufal
KDB Bruno Rashford Mitoma March
Haaland Isak Jota

If Sanchez is in goal in Nottingham game for Brighton, I can put him in for Steele ahead of BB. Defense is shit but can’t figure out a better one…. if I sacrifice TAA I could probably squeeze Salah in.

So the main thing different from template is that you go KDB instead of Salah, quite a cool punt in itself. If you really wanna double on Pool defence, I'd go Robbo/Alisson instead of Konate still, downgrading Bruno (plays so deep these days, though still can contribute a lot) to maybe Grealish if you free up the City spot.
If I was going triple United I'd probably have 2 defenders + an attacker, Shaw/DDG look really decent picks

Yeah I prefer Antony to Bruno even without the price difference.

I like Lindelof in defense though. £4.1m and unless ETH is insane and puts Maguire back in, he will be playing every game.

Would you do it now or wait til week 34?
Exceptionally brave to have no Arse. Though they do have a tough schedule and maybe you get back on one or 2 after 34.

But benching misery too.

Yeah I'd bring a couple back in after Newcastle as long as they haven't totally lost the plot. And I'd wait on the wildcard if you can afford to. Benching misery comes with the territory at this stage of the season.

Went ahead early and took a -8 before the price rises to come up with this:
Kepa / Raya
TAA / Trips / Estupinan / Shaw / Henry
March / Mitoma / Salah / Rashford / B. Fernandes
Isak Watkins Haaland

Didn't like taking the early transfers and hits, but's it's practically a WC team for a -8 and I think this will be a good base team to take me through the rest of the season.

Too scared to show my face here after an abysmal week and a 100k slide.

Time to put it right this week. Made he wrong call on Jota/Gakpo and now I don’t know what to do ahead of double. Any hit I take will have to be to get in DGW, not start moving them around.

Do I back Gakpo and go for a punt on Martial, or do I use a -4 to get in Antony/Jota for Gakpo/Jesus and just play a single defender?

Maybe a case of wait and see for this week.

Anyone who has sold Martinelli for this GW trying to get the 2xBrighton, Rashford, Grealish, Salah midfield?

Is this a smart move?

I guess the benefit of having used all chips now is that you can see if Arsenal fall to pieces (keep Martinelli/Jesus) or if they win against City, and maybe try and keep 1 arsenal asset.

So many wildcarders will have the same team next GW. Battle of the templaters

I did. Didn't have funds for Grealish so going for Andreas as a punt for that final midfield position despite his double being against City/Liverpool. Plus I don't trust Pep to play any of his midfielders for two consecutive games. Gakpo might be a better punt if you don't have triple Liverpool?

I am not a smart man though, so make of that what you will...

Press on and field this? Or do the wildcard? @CassiusClaymore @Rhyme Animal @Cutch @Samid @Dirty Schwein @ROFLUTION @Maluco

Steele (De Gea)
Shaw Chilwell Trippier
Grealish Mitoma Martinelli Saka
Haaland (c) Watkins Kane

MacAll, White, Botman

Work leader has Salah, and a FH left - which he'll use in week 34.

It feels like a rush to play the wildcard with 1 day notice, and feels wiser to hold off for a fuller picture of what's what as the wildcard will need to cover week 34 and 37 doubles.

1.7m in the bank.
Could do Kane to Jota, or Chilwell to TAA

Roll. For sure.

Keep your transfer and gather more info for 34.

I wish I had your composure because I regret making my transfer early.

My plan over the next few weeks is to:

GW33-34: Chilwell, Martinelli & Kane to TAA, Salah & Isak
GW35: Henry to Estupinian.

Then I saw that Isak and TAA about to rise and Kane about to fall... so got spooked and did Chilwell to TAA. Think that's a mistake. Should have done Kane to Isak this week. And now that the price changes have happened, one more bit of price movement to the players named above makes it impossible to execute my plan.

I got stung with those price increases too. I dithered too much on making the transfers and got priced out of it :(

Either roll or use a transfer. You can save the WC.

Ta chaps.
Team is decent and Haaland is obvious captain.

Single transfer if you had to?

Kane to Jota
Chilwell to TAA
Shaw to someone, with a tough game and maybe even centre back?
Something else?
I did Chilwell to TAA but thinking I should have done Kane to Isak.

You got 5-6 players for the DGW34 there, which is not many considering your opponent will free hit, so yeah I'd field that for now and throw the wildcard in DGW34. That way you can see which way the title challenge between Arsenal and City will bend too. Maybe you can pick/avoid Pep's rotation better for the DGW that way. Not sure Grealish starts both.

If you choose to wildcard in DGW34, you might as well go for a differential player this gameweek if you have a transfer left, as you might sub everyone out in DGW34. Not sure who though, GW33 don't have any stand out differentials albeit Isak (7.6% owned) is in decent form and meets Everton.

Yep, ta - will definitely not wildcard now.
Always hate to do those late on, and a midweek gameweek feels a bad idea.

Jota, or Isak could have decent hauls. Hopefully we can shut Kane down.
Probably need to keep Chilwell with a home game. He will bang a double digits at some point, we all know it.
