Fantasy Premier League 2024/25

Captain options for GW26 then? Tricky one this week.

I know City aren't the greatest defensively but Salah away there is still not a guaranteed return.

Mbeumo has a great fixture but early kick off and I hate having a captain blank hanging around my neck all weekend. A non captain return would be enough from him in my ml's.

Chelsea re out of form and away so not Palmer.

Only other 2 are Watkins and Isak (home against Forest and Chelsea). Forest have started to look a bit leaky recently. Isak could be the one maybe?

I have a nice 137 point lead over rivals in my ML who wont be risking captaincy over Salah. So makes sense for me to stick with me and play all the players we have in common. Last few weeks, they have been playing safe and there is no need for me to take big risks.

Newcastle have 1 win in 4 and Isak only returned vs Southampton during this period.

I’d be wary of captaining their players when they have a cup final in a few weeks - I think their eyes are half on that.

Yeah I don't have that luxury. It's very tight at the top in my league this season. Can't afford to go off piste just yet. I'm hoping that TC in 24 and holding the AM chip will work out for me further down the line. Looking to play it on Howe in 31 now which means no BB in 33.

So my strategy will probably end up being AM31-33, FH34, WC35, BB36.

Currently on Kluivert for me against Wolves but I imagine I will bottle it tomorrow and change it to Salah just because it feels the safest option.

Emery just about worked out as the better AM choice than Slot, 14 points to 13. Will probably keep it on him for the weekend too, at home to Chelsea is a good fixture for them.
I was also on Emery, had a glimmer of hope that the Chelsea fixture would count as a bonus but alas. I'd rather chase bonus points than playing it safe with AM especially if playing it safe is a fixture against Chelsea, but don't see any enticing options unfortunately. People are mentioning Glasner but I don't think away at Fulham is a great fixture for them, and I also cannot quite work out if their game against Villa next week might count as a bonus fixture or not.

Mbuemo or kluivert in for Rodgers?
Anyone bringing in cunha? Need to ship gapko out
Both good options but I wouldn't transfer out Rodgers personally, looked quite good yesterday and has the ability to completely cut open Chelsea's leaky midfield/defense this weekend.

I'll be bringing in Cunha after this weekend, away at Bournemouth isn't really a fancy fixture to bring him in at the moment.

Yep I'm keeping Rodgers and Watkins for Chelsea as well. Think either could haul. Will look to move Rodgers on the week after and finally get a Bournemouth mid in.

Has to be Salah captain if you have a highish rank, if you are chasing points you can punt on someone else.

Mbeumo hasn't scored in 6 against Leicester, and Brentford are much better at home (only 14g in 12 away), so that discounts him for me even though I just got him. Isak always scores against Forest and is at home, unlike the competition, so he probably should be the sensible pick. But cup final noise plus a Newcastle lull give pause.

Salah may not be guaranteed to return away against City, but he's returned in 9 of the 10 games he's played them since Liverpool got beat 4-0 in the pandemic - Salah's only blank vs them since then was at Anfield.

No love for Watkins as captain? Chelseas defence is terrible and he has returned in 5 of his last 6 games.

I am tempted to take a punt on Amorim as my AM. Everton are a place above us in the table so opportunity for table bonus. I know we are in bad shape but could at least sneak a draw. I am currently on Emery at home to Chelsea so could just stick with him.

Need to be 5 places above for a table bonus.

At the start of the season I thought Palmer was a must have all year but think it's time to dump him now

Managed to accumulate 5 FTs which is like a mini Wild Card so full team refresh due

Evening @CassiusClaymore. While working my way through the “my mates addicted to brake fluid….” thread, saw this, from over a decade ago.

You’ve been a FF fan for some time then?

(It was a joke… wasn’t it?)
My missus accused me of caring more about my fantasy football team than my own kids.

In my defence...

I had Rio Ferdinand, John Terry, Ashley Cole and Glen Johnson.

Yeah definitely transferring Slot over to Arteta for the final week, Liverpool look very shaky and can see City getting something at least against them.
Not the Bournemouth geezer?
They're hot to trot for goals at the moment and play woeful Wolves

Ignoring the Liverpool game, their last 4 league game goals totals have been

3 v Soton away
5 v Forest home
4 v Newcastle away
2 v Chelsea away

Cue 0-0

After Villa they’ve got Southampton & Leicester at home in the next two..

I think you’d be stupid to dump him before those. They’re the sort of games he can run riot in

Clearly. Nobody would ever have Glen Johnson in their FPL Team.

On paper you expect Bournemouth to walk through them but Wolves have a habit of pulling off a surprise. Just feel Arsenal against West Ham is the safer bet, West Ham look absolutely terrible. I’ll be in absolute disbelief if they get anything against Arsenal.

I think it does not make sense to take a -4 to go from Slot to Arteta. Considering a normal 2-0 or 3-0 scoreline for arsenal that will be mean 10/11 points for Arteta, effectively giving me 6/7 in the process after the hit. Tempted to go for Glasner but sticking with Slot I think

I had always planned to move off Emery but now we're here, I'm not sure it's worth a transfer?

I have had success with the table bonus strategy and now it feels like its time to play safe and consolidate the gains.

The safest bet is arguably Arteta but Arsenal are unlikely to score a hatfull of goals and regardless i dont have the budget for a straight swap.

I can get to Ireola but Wolves could nick something so no guarantees there.

Glasner for the TB is punty but I would probably go there if I had for instance been on Slot until now.

Villa at home against a mediocre Chelsea team which means saving a transfer towards 29 seems like the sensible option.

Yeah I'm saving the transfer as well, since I'm not free hitting in GW29.

Chelsea are struggling and just lost 3-0 at Brighton, while Villa wasn't half bad against Liverpool. Midweek game might hurt them but think they have enough to see them off. Just a bit annoying that there's no bonus points involved (think there would have been if Chelsea had won at Brighton).

Team already shaping up quite nicely for GW29 though.

Sels
Gabriel Robinson Kerkez
Kluivert Dango Palmer X
Wood

That's with Salah, Gakpo, Rogers, Isak on the bench who are all blanking. Gakpo will definitely be gone, just debating on whether to keep him for the easy GW28 or sell him for Cunha already afther this gameweek.

Sorely tempted to take a hit for basically no reason.

Pickford
Tranmere - Gabriel - Robinson
Salah - Palmer - Semenyo - Mbeumo - Rogers
Wood - Isak

(Fabianksi, Gakpo, Greaves, Van den Berg)

I want double Bournemouth or even triple at some point, as they've got Wolves, a fair run of games to end, and a habit of not just having Semenyo score all their points like what would be easy. So Rogers out would be the play there.

But there's also Gakpo, so any immediate focus should really be there. Might fancy Welbeck or Pedro (because learning from mistakes is for better people) if going that way?

Tempted to take a 4pt hit for swapping Slot for McKenna (vs Spurs at home). Big risk big reward that, thoughts? Unlikely?

Now I'm tempted to go Emery to Glasner. Palace apparently haven't lost away from home since GW8, have the best defense away from home with only 11 conceded, and haven't lost at Fulham since 2005.

Someone talk me out of it

Feck it. Wildcarded. What say you:

Pickford

Gabrial
Kerkez
Robinson

Ouattara
Salah (c)
Nwaneri
Mbuemo
Mitoma

Watkins
Isak

Subs - Fabianski, Wood, TAA, Munoz

Id go for Wissa over Wood or Watkins myself and have enough money to get a third Liverpool player from gw30 onwards. Also make sure there’s an easy way to bring in Gordon in about 5-6 gameweeks as newcastle double.

Glasner’s a good shout imo. Even a draw gives him a lot of points no?

Least he'd get is 9 points for a 1-1, a 0-0 or 2-2 would get him to 10 points.

But Villa winning at home against Chelsea would also bank Emery a minimum of 7 points so not sure it's worth it. Feel like you'd need a win for Palace at Fulham and not sure how likely that is. Yes they've won their last few away games but they were against United, West Ham and Leicester - meanwhile Fulham is coming off back-to-back wins against Newcastle and Forest.

Wissa is massively out of form - he has 2 returns in the last 11.

I’d keep Watkins for this week then change him to Cunha next game week

What are you doing in 29? 5 of those players blank. If you're using FH then might as well have Henderson over Pickford as he doubles in 33 and has better fixtures anyway. Maybe get Mateta in as well. You'll want to have Newcastle and Palace players ready for the double and be rolling transfers towards the next double/blank.

Also why keep Fabianski when he's not in the team any more. Areola is #1 now and cheap.

If you're not FH in 29 then you need less players that blank or you're setting yourself up for pain.
