Fantasy Premier League 2024/25

Decided on Odegaard over Bruno right at the last minute and also kept Cunha, so I guess this could be worse.

Dammit, Diaz benched. Knew it was the risk and he might still come on - but still annoying.
TAA starts at least.

In fairness, if I'd known Diaz would be out i'd have probably gone Bruno, so thankfully I didn't!

Yep and this is why I can't take Haaland out either. Every time I do this the player I removed scores. It's ridiculous now.

Hate it, Mbeumo did it to me a few weeks ago now too. Daft thing is that both times there was no emergency to make the transfer.

Been banging on how about I didn't mind Cunha's fixture today in this very thread.

Mbeumo was wanting money for Isak, but rather than wait until I had 2 FTs and make both transfers at the same time I moved Mbeumo a week early, where he scored and assisted v Newcastle.

Gabriel out. Scores in both games after.
Palmer out. Scores 4 in first half.
Stand Larsen out. Assist and 2 goals in next 2 games.
Mbeumo out. Same as above.
Cunha now.
Think even Johnson got an assist or something from the bench.

It's like a gypsy curse.

Took a 4 point hit to bring in Diaz , but I would have gone with Bruno as well if I knew Diaz wouldn't start.

The true curse is on United itself. Like someone signed the club's soul away for all that success.
Literally everything has gone wrong since, all sorts of top managers and players turned to absolute turd here.

I hope you didn’t go with 3 United. You were warned.

Random defences bailing me out at the moment and keeping me ticking above weekly averages since my attacking differentials are shit - Foden and Bruno

Can't even benefit from a TAA clean sheet. They've conceded already!

When they win 5-1 that'll feel annoying.

As awful as it's been it's only Cunha who is truly highly owned around my rank that's done that much damage so far. If I'd have kept him I'd have been almost maintaining rank.

11 points from safety, 10 points worse off from bringing in Solanke. A little self inflicted hit by not starting Hall, missing out on 4 points.

That Liverpool clean sheet going early helps.

Hall has been an incredible signing - 3 cleanies in a row, one a 15 pointer, and guaranteed cleany next game up.

Salah blanking would be a typical end to this game week.

Liverpool losing a cleanie to fricking Leicester at home this is why I don't see value in the 6m+ defenders.

Pool score twice but no Salah and no Trent involved. feck off. This Boxing Day has been shit in everything.

I trust Arsenal, but that's it for expensive defenders at the moment.

2 clean sheets in 10 now for Liverpool. To be kind, they've had a lot of disruption. Konate and Allison injuries, TAA missed 1, Robertson red then suspension. Still not good conceding to both Southampton and Leicester in that time. 3 away at both Newcastle and Spurs too.

I wonder how many players put in one of Bruno, Diaz or Sarr?

Lost Redcafe access early today, had to go to Birmingham to spend Boxing Day with the in-laws (BIRMINGHAM!), reliant on updates from mates as couldn’t watch the match, lose…. then have a sh!t journey home doing 45 on the motorway because of the fog.

Carlsberg don’t do Boxing Days. But if they did…. it wouldn’t be this one.

Barely got to 50. Thanks to two men - Cunha and Salah. Shit week otherwise.

How many players left? I'm on 45 with 2 Arsenal defenders to go. 50+ doesn't seem too bad looking at the averages.

Some stats for teams at different ranks:
Top 10k averaging 58.5 - 2.3 players remaining
Top 100k averaging 56.1 - 2.3 remaining
Top 250k averaging 54.9 - 2.3
Top 500k 54.1 - 2.3
Top 1m - 52.8 - 2.4
Top 3m - 50.2 - 2.4

I'm new at looking at this kind of thing, but it doesn't seem that bad for you, or me even.

My GW rank is turd on the offcial site - 4.6m, but I'd imagine there's some weeks where that kind of GW rank loses much more ground in terms of actual points. Not sure, but eveyone seems sort of close to each other this week, sometimes it might be more spread out?

Was only that bad decision to sell Cunha away from being reasonable by the looks of it.

My plan was to do Semenyo to Sarr or Solanke to Jackson... But now I'm also considering Bruno to Foden... Thoughts on any of these?

I can only do one...

I just have Gabriel.

Bruno is the one I would take out first but not sure for Foden.
Thinking Foden could be a good hedge against Haaland for that run of fixtures. But also, who else is there? Already have Palmer and Salah, can't get to Son, already have 3 Arsenal...

Gordon maybe? Picking up some form both him and Newcastle.

Meet you in the middle tomorrow then after an Arsenal cleanie (we hope).

Imagine a huge proportion of what people have left is at least one Arsenal defender, Raya or 2 of them. Mbeumo still highly owned, guess he's the one that can hurt us the most from both angles. A bit of Joao Pedro too.

Yeah Raya, Saliba, Timber, Mbeumo, Mitoma, Wissa and Pedro are all playing tmrw so depending on how many of the top 100k have them it can affect the rank quite a bit.

I went against my own rules of not bringing in any United player to avoid double disappointment in GW and got in Bruno. Never break your own rules.

Saka comes in to my team. Form nosedives and then gets hurt.

Cunha scores a lot. I bring him in. He stops. I get him out, he starts scoring again.

VVD keeps getting 4.7 pts per game
I get him in. 4 straight blanks.

Bruno I get him in. Instantly red carded.

Only Salah and Palmer remained immune to this.

Do we think Chelsea will rotate v Ipswich or is not a problem? When they did that against Southampton a few weeks ago it caught a lot of us out. Similar profile of fixture with similar timing between games.

Don't know if losing to Fulham might influence that if it was ever on the cards to begin with. Want to freshen up? Want to make sure they're at full strength in case they lose again? Ipswich are that bit better than Southampton were at the time I suppose.

With Fabianski looking like he's out as my backup goalie, Bruno suspended, Greaves out of favour as my fodder I don't really need Sanchez and Jackson being rotated again.

Might affect transfer planning.

Edit:

Have just enough for Semenyo > Mbeumo but that's not happening until after Brentford play Arsenal. I do want Mbeumo back at some point. Anything else I do would have to be downgrades or sideways in price. Sanchez > Sels or Henderson, or Bruno > someone who will start just to try to boost the numbers in case Maresca does tinker?

Bruno out already feels like such a waste though, and I'd feel daft if I take Sanchez out in a panic only for him to start anyway. Bit frustrated by Sanchez in general, and Hendo/Sels have a few good upcoming games mixed in with harder ones.

Sanchez > Hendo
Semenyo > Mbeumo
Greaves > Andersen (if deemed necessary)

over the next 3 weeks leaves 0.0 ITB

Think I'd be happy with that squad at that point moving forward without too much need to change until Saka is fit again:

Hendo Fab
Gabriel Timber Hall Lewis Andersen
Salah Palmer Bruno Mbeumo Rogers
Isak Jackson Solanke
