I don’t expect any other goalkeeper to give me 6+ points GW1 honestly..
I also expect mount to play full 90 mins and as a #10 he should be involved in the goals..
Martial comes in next week along with KdB/Bruno for Vardy + Salah/Auba..
Werner will most likely go off after 60 mins for Abraham otherwise I had him before Vardy but Vardy will most likely play full 90 and he may even score a double against WBA..
Don’t trust Doherty against Everton either.. they will most likely concede at least one goal..
Just FYI my team included half your suggestions but I changed them to what I just posted cuz of above reasons..

I added Ings as placeholder. I just prefer Doherty or Kane in Spurs and think Martial>Son for the same price (yes I know he’s not a midfielder..).

Nyland, Bissouma, Taylor, Bruno.

Plan on taking out Ings for Martial next week, then Auba for KDB and Willian for a Chelsea attacker once they’re fit.

Any suggestions?

Yes, make your team look more like mine (is basically what anyone will answer).

Serious answer though - Willian could be a risky pick. Has he even started a game for Arsenal yet? I'd prefer someone more guaranteed to play.

Why do you think mount will play full 90 over havertz?
I can’t decide between those two or ziyech
 
Is it worth building the best possible team and then using a free hit for GW1?

Idea being that you can then save on taking hits to get united and city players in the following week, or using a wildcard.

Haven’t really thought through the consequences of it - potentially a shit idea - but I’m tempted to do it.

I think both will play 90 but Ziyech prob won’t start and may come on later as he lacks match fitness due to insufficient training apparently.. Mount is just cheaper then Havertz and well settled in PL whereas Havertz might take some time to settle in..?

Are you wildcarding or why are you placing so much emphasis on GW1? I’m trying to make as small movements transfer-wise as possible, taking into account corona-cases and price-rises.

No I’m not but I’ve left myself many options to play with for GW2 depending on how this team performs .. I need to see which one of these players deserves to be kept on..

Yeah I’ve been weighing that up, but he joined relatively early in the window.

The only real options I can afford for that first week are Alli, James, Barnes, Mount. But you could make good arguments against all of them too.
 
looking at the potential teams posted there is not much variation with lots of the same names - United and City not playing is part of the reason but still I usually expect more variation at the start
 
right, I’ve settled on this and don’t plan to touch it again until next weekend.

happy to have PEA and Salah for this one week and maybe take a -4 hit next week to allow city/United players in depending on fixtures.

Ryan/McCarthy

Trent/Doherty/KWP/Justin/Burns

PEA/Son/Salah/Noble/Stephens

Vardy/Mitrovic/Brewster

any thoughts???

I've got Saliba in. I think both start in our 3-4-3 formation, with Saliba likely playing every game until Luiz is back in about six weeks.

The only way he doesn't start is if Arteta changes to a 4-3-3 formation (we began the restart this way) and prefers Holding and Tierney at CB (which seems a strange pair).

You can't use FH in GW1.

Ziyech is injured. Also, does it have to be a Chelsea player? Mount seems like risky business play time wise, but if you plan on swapping him within the first few gameweeks it might not be an issue. Pulisic, Ziyech or Havertz seem to be better choices when fit, but personally I'd wait a gameweek or three before choosing between them.

Don't play Willian. He's far from guaranteed.

I actually think Alli would be an awesome differential. Tempted to pick him over Son. He's basically a prototype Mourinho player, he'll play a lot. And I reckon he'll perform well with Mourinho as the manager.

I even think the same goes for Doherty. Sure, he won't be a wingback the same way as he was with Wolves, but Mou takes a lot of pride in building a solid defensive unit. They probably won't concede nearly as much as they did last year, and he'll most likely start almost every game for them. Mourinho usually plays with one defensive and one attacking side back, no? Doherty might as well be the attacking one.

I think im set. Any comments or ideas on what do with getting Bruno and Sterling in? Would you keep Auba and Salah instead? Bring Greenwood in to put more value elsewhere?

After reading the indian FPL champion speak a lot of sense on his selection, I've decided to reshuffle again.

Solid team, which leaves a lot of possibilities for GW2-5. The thinking here is to ride the fixtures and not have to react in GW2 by transfering in Martial, but instead being able to see what moves and get a hold of it. I can go to a lot of players within 2 moves with this team, and Calvert Lewin will get new fresh support, so that's in my thinking too. If everything fecks up, and Liverpool becomes essential, hit the wildcard early on.

McCarthy - Nyland
TAA - Doherty - Johnson - Holding/Saliba - Taylor
Son - Aubameyang - Pulisic/Havertz - Saka - Smallbone
DCL - Werner - Martial

+ I can switch between 4-3-3, 3-4-3 depending on the fixtures. Say Werner flops and I want Aguero, I can get him in 2 moves easily. Or I can downgrade Calvert Lewin + Saka to Foden + Adams.

3.5m in the bank still. Plan to swap out Mount for Bruno for GW2. I think Mount plays this week but Havertz will take his place over the next few weeks.

Auba allows me to swap him in/out for KDB/Sterling/Mane/Salah depending on form

With TAA, Auba, Son, Vardy, Werner and Bruno to come in there should be regular point scorers.

Defenders should all play when fit, same as keeper, so they should total up decent point over the season.

Any tips, pointers and advice welcome.

I had Alli in my team most of the week, then changed him for Willian. I’ll probably change it back to Alli if the consensus is Willian might not start.

I think Davies is pretty nailed on for that left hand side. I can’t see anyone else that would rotate with him, unless he’s unavailable. I’m assuming Aurier isn’t going to stay, and Docherty will start most weeks.

I like it. 3 Arsenal players, though? They've got 2 nice games to start with, but a run of 5 immediately after that look a bit hairy.

I don't think I'll make any more changes or I'll just be making changes for the sake of it, unless you lot point out a grave error:

Mc Carthy (Ryan)
TAA Tierney KWP (Branthwaite, Ayling)
ASM Rodriguez Auba Son Havertz
DCL Ings (Connolly)

Auba will be out for KBB/Salah/Mane/Bruno after GW2

Martial to come in Week 2 and possibly Greenwood too.
