Drafted in Foden and Antonio this week for the x2 points bonanza!
Yeah I'm keeping Martial as well and I've quite a lot of the same players as you. The fact that there aren't many other options around at the moment, with injuries, is playing into that too.
I've gone for
Leno
Stones Dias Justin
KDB Bruno Rashford Son Saka
Martial Bamford
Bench: Forster, Dallas, Holgate, Decordova-Reid
Thinking of Triple Captaining KDB for the DGW but I'm worried I might get Pepped
Yeah very similar. I regret letting Son go but I wanted Rashford and I'm too insistent on having Grealish to remove him. I regret Soucek a bit, should have probably gone for Bowen instead as I have funds to do that but maybe Soucek comes up with a header, and he's a BPS magnet when he does.
The guy above me in my league copied my entire defense and most of my midfield on WC though which makes it hard to chase. There's almost 2.0m difference in team value though which I will have to capitalize on, but the difference of Zaha v Smith-Rowe will not get me 100 points back... I have to keep my team out of my WhatsApp group for as long as I can otherwise it's impossible to chase. I need that third league title in a row!
I'm thinking of TC him too, two home fixtures which City should win.42(-4) not too bad without a fh. Especially as that KDB last min pen nonsense was a big points game changer negatively.
Haven't lost major ground in my league. All chips and second wildcard left. But will need to use them all very well.
Kdb as triple captain has to be a consideration. He has been shooting loads recently and arguably unlucky not to score.
Two home games. Will there be a better triple captain option? On a week i wouldn't want to use another chip?
Maybe whenever Kane has a double?
Are people forgetting how improved Villa are this year?I'm thinking of TC him too, two home fixtures which City should win.
If I had 2 players on my bench with a DGW I'd go for it. I just have Leeds and Soton players on my bench though, so I don't have any unfortunately.
For a -8, my bench would be Johnstone, Dallas, Cancelo, Brewster instead of Macey, Dallas, KWP, Brewster. Cancelo would be a great option over the next few weeks, so I think I may do it. (Macey -> Johnstone would be pretty much free if he gets 2points each game too). You are asking the wrong question in my opinion. When considering a bench boost, this is the kind of thought process you need to go down:
I see every season people using the bench boost in a double gameweek with a quite a weak bench full of single gameweek fodder. It sounds obvious, but a double gameweek doesn't benefit your benched players if they are not doubling themselves.
- Decide what your preferred XI is that week;
- Consider whether the four benched players are going to realistically be the strongest bench you have this season:
- If the answer is yes, bench boost;
- If the answer is no:
- Consider whether a hit or two would you give you the strongest bench you will have this season, and consider whether you can expect your investment to either return immediately or over the following couple of weeks.
- If it will, consider bench boosting;
- If not, hold onto the chip.
You also need to ask yourself whether you expect everyone in that starting XI to make at least one appearance that week. You don't want to bench boost when you have your strongest sub 1 (and possibly sub 2) coming off your bench anyway. I'm thinking of injury doubts like Charlie Taylor here.
With a -8 hit, I can do DCL to Antonio/Watkins, Mitchell to Coufal and Nyland to Martinez. You are asking the wrong question in my opinion. When considering a bench boost, this is the kind of thought process you need to go down:

I wonder how much Covid and limited training has impacted though. Are people forgetting how improved Villa are this year?
I'm in very similar position. With a -8 hit, I can do DCL to Antonio/Watkins, Mitchell to Coufal and Nyland to Martinez.
My bench would be Leno (Newcastle), Bamford (Brighton), Dallas (Brighton), Bednarek (Leicester).
Should I take the -8 hit? Also, should I use BB in this case or just not use any chips even after taking the -8 hit?
Villa are good but even if De Bruyne scores 1 goal or assist it will be worth it as he is likely to haul in the next game. Also, as mentioned by someone else we don't know how covid has impacted the team. Are people forgetting how improved Villa are this year?
Thing is are you likely to get another week where you will get players on the bench with a dgw?I'm in very similar position.
-8 to swap DCL to Antonio but my bench are not playing twice (Dallas, Ayling and Adams).
Think I'll take the hit and not BB
I have to go a bit less deep in other positions I think because of you said in here. That would enable me to remove a striker and theoretically go with something like:No need to regret Soucek. He plays every minute of every game and can score a goal at any time with the delivery West Ham have from the flanks. He's brilliant value for a 4th/5th midfielder. Just play him every week, be patient and see the points accumulate. He's a bonus points magnet too as you say so great for the odd 11 point haul

I don't mind if the bench play single game, but Adams is a useless twat and whilst I like Dallas and Ayling, it's likely Leeds will concede.Thing is are you likely to get another week where you will get players on the bench with a dgw?

Any suggestions for improving my free hit team? 0.3 in the bank
I think I’d look at 4-5-1s or 4-4-2s on a free hit this week. Maybe even a back five. I’d like Robertson and a second City defender.

Normally that's true but I think this has been the best bunch of fixtures for a Free Hit in several seasons, especially after the City game was moved. United, City, Arsenal and Spurs all had on paper good fixtures to target and hindsight doesn't change that. I think those that used it can consider themselves unlucky and by all accounts the average was much higher for people that did.
Yeah with fantasy it’s all sort of maybe maybe not with most things and is largely dependant on timing. Now I’ve said this I’ll probably use my fh and get 12 pointsI had 5 players who'd have played, FH was pretty much a necessity. By fluke, 2 of my were Kane and Keane so I'd have got some good points from them but no way of knowing. (The rest of my squad scored 8).
Having a few top players, all v 'poor' opposition (and Liverpool not playing) made a FH logical for lots.
I got 58 and about 2/3s of our 38 man league did a FH. Almost all (apart from stupid picks) got over 40 and ranging to just over 60. Some said they'd have got about 15 without it.
It'll be interesting to see when others take their FH and they say what they got Vs what they would have.
I think it is a very legitimate choice to save both your TC and BB chips this week. I don't think I will use either. Might TC Salah, but probably not.Taken a -8 (Calvert Lewin->Antonio, Holding->Cancelo, Grealish->Salah)to get this team:
Martinez (MCI/NEW)
Coufal (BUR/WBA)
Cancelo (CRY/AVL)
Taylor (WHU/LIV)
Fernandes (LIV/FUL)
De Bruyne (CRY/AVL)
Salah (MU/BUR)
Son (SHU)
Soucek (BUR/WBA)
Watkins (MCI/NEW)
Antonio (BUR/WBA)
Bench: Button (WOL/WHU), Bednarek (LEI), Mitchell (MCI), Adams (LEI)
Bench boost doesn't really do anything for me I don't think. Especially with Taylor doubtful, Button a non playing GK and Mitchell a single game against Man City and so therefore triple captain seems to be my only option.
I'm swaying 65/35 towards triple captaining De Bruyne but just think that Pep will rest him for one of the games. Fernandes missing the Fulham game if he gets booked against Liverpool is putting me of TC him as well. Cancelo another option as others have mentioned but again concerns about being rested for one of them. He's played near enough every PL game so far!!

Remember city have an fa cup game in the middle so surely rest kdb there?
Rashford. He doesn't haul often. Bruno is vital as even on a bad day he can easily get double digits.I’m going to get KdB back in my team, but I’m having a really hard time deciding who to get rid of.
It’s either Rashford, Bruno or Son who needs to go. Rashford seems like the obvious choice, but every time I’m about to hit ‘make transfer’ I have second thoughts.
I really hate this game sometimes.
edit: or I could go -8 and downgrade Zouma to Mitchell and upgrade Grealish to KdB...
The fa cup game is 3 days after the Villa game.
Just looked and City actually have 5 games in 13 days! Who knows who will be rested when but they will definitely need to rotate!
That changes it a bit..but i thought pep had said kdb won't be rested(for league stuff)
Any. news on Leeds Brighton? Snow is bad in west yorkshire. Some buses in Leeds have been canceled because of the snow. I wonder if the game will be called or push a few days,
Oh ffs if we haven't got enough to worry about already....
Doesn't sound like it will be postponed, no talk of it at all. But Im just on the outside of Leeds, close to airport and it's still very bad. Buses still cancelled round this area.
