Fantasy Premier League 20/21

58 points from a FH.

Would have got 35 but that included 16 for Kane and 11 for Keane (sods law he scored this week). Rest of team shite.

23 extra points. I'll take that. I don't think there'll be a GW when lots of my players aren't playing OR the fixtures mean I need a mass change around. And if there is one, no guarantees of points.

Only downside is expected a couple more goals to maybe hit 70ish.

First time looking at the FPL cup.
Me and my opponent were on same points after GW17. And my opponent had better attacking stats. So why am I not showing as eliminated already

59 on free hit. Without it I would have had 31 (and -4), so well worth it. Will still have to take a hit or two next week now though to get some City boys in indefinitely.

Through in cup 59 v 55. LiveFPL has me going from 208k to 130k for the week. That’s only a gain of 3k from last night though. Frustrating, as I thought a Holding clean sheet would see me into the top 100k, so am hoping that is a bad approximation. Maybe Mitchell has saved a lot of gameweeks!

7 green arrows in a row, but not set up well for the double.

45(-8) from 9 players, happy with that. Damage limitation despite Bruno(c) fail. Perfectly set up for the DGW.

Forgot to FH, so 32 from 6 players, it's alright considering LiveFPL has average at 29, I suppose

Got an extra 30 or so points from my Free Hit.

Downside is it cost me two free transfers as I hadn’t originally planned on Free Hitting - meaning I’m not setup to Bench Boost in DGW19 without incurring a -8.

I've never looked at it until you said this (guess I've never scrolled down before).

How does the cup work? What's the point/benefit?

54 from FH. Not spectacular but I had to pull the trigger, otherwise it would have just been Kane, Son, Fernandes and a few others playing.

Getting in Antonio to replace DCL for the DGW.
Part of me wants to get KDB in too for Salah, would be a -4 though. Seems a slightly sideways move though. Salah could easily haul v Burnley. I do want to remove him for KDB eventually though.

Might as well take the -4 if you want to move that way anyway. Burnley isn’t easy and it means you can be extra happy when he blanks at the weekend.

My team from Gw17 scored 13. FH team scored 55. :)

30k Green arrow up to 80k OR.

Decided to take -8 to swap Tierney, Saka and Lacazette out for Dias, Soucek, Watkins. I am getting extra 3 games for them and I prefer them as my assets post next GW anyway (maybe except Tierney when he comes back but Arsenal’s fixtures don’t look great and Watkins has two games in hand so it could become doubles galore).

Looking at:

Areola Johnstone
Cancelo Dias Cresswell Dallas Dier
KDB Bruno Rashford Grealish Soucek
Martial Bamford Watkins

12 doubles, Dallas and Bamford against Brighton at home, Dier against Sheffield Utd. £2.2m in the bank so could still make a few updates after next week if I wish, and there is plenty of easy downgrades within that team to generate more funds. I could easily grab Salah/Kane for Rashford/Martial if I had to. Zaha for Soucek will probably be my main target for next week though considering Zaha’s tasty fixtures.

I think I may start adding assets from teams whose games got postponed recently as they will be due doubles sooner or later. Villa has two home games albeit against good teams so probably better to invest in their offensive rather than defensive assets as goal is more likely than a clean sheet.

Not entirely comfortable about triple United but we have awesome fixtures and when Martial unlocks himself he could haul + I need a differential there anyway.

Chelsea vs Liverpool for the double when it comes to defenders? I think we will score, but Burnley is tasty for TAA or Robertson.
Fuham good game for Chelsea, but as we know Fulham have improved recently so might not be easy.

Right now I think getting Chilwell makes most sense. Better long term fixtures and I feel Chelsea got potential to improve again.

I'm about to take -8 to swap DCL, Bissouma and Son to KDB, Soucek and Antonio.

I'm just worried Antonio won't play the two games but there are no other options.

Already have Bamford
Already have Adams (FML)
Wilson is a useless troll
Watkins is ok but not sure which of the Villa players have Covid and that makes me hesitant to triple up on them (already have Martinez and Grealish)

My team is a beast now.

Martinez
Dias Cancelo Cresswell
KDB Bruno Son Rashford Soucek
Kane Bamford

Dallas Mitchell Brewster

How are you able to get all these players and not exceed £100 million?! Kane, Bruno, Son, KDB, Rashford alone should cost half of that.

Well played.

Any idea when does free hit expire?

Think these are great transfers on paper - with Haller gone you’d expect that makes Antonio even more likely to start (though I agree Moyes will try and manage his fitness).

I would have brought Antonio in this week if I was bench boosting. Now I’ve moved away from that I’m going without him, but think he’s a great pick.

KDB is the best captaincy option this week so agree he’s worth getting in. Bruno on four yellows vs Liverpool is concerning me, otherwise he’d be a great shout too.

Lots of failures with the free hit in my leagues. I half expected it so didn’t use mine. It never works well when you’ve got mostly shite teams playing. Plus loads backed on Arsenal and Spurs heavy victories and that flopped. People should have used it for the doubles this week.

42(-4) not too bad without a fh. Especially as that KDB last min pen nonsense was a big points game changer negatively.

Haven't lost major ground in my league. All chips and second wildcard left. But will need to use them all very well.

Kdb as triple captain has to be a consideration. He has been shooting loads recently and arguably unlucky not to score.

Two home games. Will there be a better triple captain option? On a week i wouldn't want to use another chip?
Maybe whenever Kane has a double?

My team is worth like 105m now. I always try and ride price rises well at the start of the season so I get more to spend.

What do you mean by expire? Your team will go back to normal for the next gameweek. Is that what ya mean?

So... to sum the chaotic planning up, for people like me who hasn't been paying a 100% attention:

Villa had City + Everton before, and now the Everton match is moved, but their already postponed match against Newcastle is thrown in, making it a double GW for Villa again?

Yes. Double for Newcastle as well, blank for Everton.

Normally that's true but I think this has been the best bunch of fixtures for a Free Hit in several seasons, especially after the City game was moved. United, City, Arsenal and Spurs all had on paper good fixtures to target and hindsight doesn't change that. I think those that used it can consider themselves unlucky and by all accounts the average was much higher for people that did.

Drew in the cup. He scored one more goal than me and goes through. Captaining Son was my downfall.

Not necessarily, I had 4 players playing one of which was Brewster otherwise

I had 5 players who'd have played, FH was pretty much a necessity. By fluke, 2 of my were Kane and Keane so I'd have got some good points from them but no way of knowing. (The rest of my squad scored 8).

Having a few top players, all v 'poor' opposition (and Liverpool not playing) made a FH logical for lots.

I got 58 and about 2/3s of our 38 man league did a FH. Almost all (apart from stupid picks) got over 40 and ranging to just over 60. Some said they'd have got about 15 without it.

It'll be interesting to see when others take their FH and they say what they got Vs what they would have.

My faith with Martial will probably backfire but I'm keen on keeping him until GW25 as a differential.

Areola
Cancelo Dias Cresswell
KDB Bruno Rashford Grealish Soucek
Martial Watkins

Bench: Johnstone, Dallas, Bamford, Dier

BB and then start moving on from Dier (to Mitchell, 1.2m gain), one of the goalkeeper (0.5m) gain which would give me easily enough funds to do Martial to Kane, Rashford to Salah etc. Don't think I'd do that before Man Utd v Newcastle on GW25 but I will see about it.

Leicester's fixtures between GW21 and GW29 makes me want Vardy and possibly even Maddison, though Maddison would probably need to step in for Zaha which I don't like all that much anymore.

A lot of people like myself planned for the DGW, so I don't think using the FH was necessarily a bad move. Even though I wanted to use my bench boost, even considering the fixture turmoil I still have 8 players with a DGW and the 3 starting players that don't are Kane & Son (vs SUFC) and Bamford (vs Brighton), so great fixtures anyway.

Yeah I'm keeping Martial as well and I've quite a lot of the same players as you. The fact that there aren't many other options around at the moment, with injuries, is playing into that too.

I've gone for

Leno
Stones Dias Justin
KDB Bruno Rashford Son Saka
Martial Bamford

Bench: Forster, Dallas, Holgate, Decordova-Reid

Thinking of Triple Captaining KDB for the DGW but I'm worried I might get Pepped :nervous:

How many players with DGW do we think we need to use the bench boost for?
You are asking the wrong question in my opinion. When considering a bench boost, this is the kind of thought process you need to go down:
  • Decide what your preferred XI is that week;
  • Consider whether the four benched players are going to realistically be the strongest bench you have this season:
    • If the answer is yes, bench boost;
    • If the answer is no:
      • Consider whether a hit or two would you give you the strongest bench you will have this season, and consider whether you can expect your investment to either return immediately or over the following couple of weeks.
        • If it will, consider bench boosting;
        • If not, hold onto the chip.
I see every season people using the bench boost in a double gameweek with a quite a weak bench full of single gameweek fodder. It sounds obvious, but a double gameweek doesn't benefit your benched players if they are not doubling themselves.

You also need to ask yourself whether you expect everyone in that starting XI to make at least one appearance that week. You don't want to bench boost when you have your strongest sub 1 (and possibly sub 2) coming off your bench anyway. I'm thinking of injury doubts like Charlie Taylor here.

What do you guys think: Is TC on Rashford a good idea for this GW:wenger::lol:

I know it would be a massive risk but i'm tempted to do it...KDB would be the better option on paper, but it could well be that Rash scores 2 or even 3 in those two games.
