No I wouldn’t, that’s a great seven. Unless you’ve had to take a -8 to get it then I’d consider it.
Also depends how many double gameweek players the rest of your squad has for GW19 as a wildcard could fix that.
But assuming those things aren’t issues I’d save the wildcard.

I do have a draft with Wilson dropped for Lacazette, but means Dias / Lloris > Stones / Leno and a weaker bench. Annoyingly I could have afforded that easily with a strong bench if I’d played the Free Hit earlier in the GW before all the price changes.

Bruno Vs KDB Vs Son vs Kane for captaincy?
So I had 12 players for this GW. One by one they've been nuked for various reasons and I'm left with:

KDB - Bruno - Zaha
Kane - Wilson

So realistically I only have 6. Staying pretty calm in the storm as panic unfolds around me.
Will be taking a -12 to get 10 players. My theory is that the -12 is effectively a -6 because of appearance points I otherwise wouldn't get. And it allows me to get another couple of United/City players. I think a very key point many are missing is that the two biggest form teams are not only playing in the blank GW18 but they also play twice in DGW19 and face relegation teams in GW20. I'll be killing several birds with the transfers I make this GW. Meanwhile Free Hitters will be reverting to their GW17 teams and find themselves massively undercooked on United/City assets ahead of GW19-20.
I'm willing to go into this GW with a 12 point deficit and without Son against the Free Hitters. But in return I'll be better equipped for the upcoming weeks and can save FH for a much better occasion. Short term pain for long term gains.

I think KDB>Bruno>Son but I'm picking Bruno because my cup opponent is a dead team with the captain on Werner and vice on Bruno. All good picks though.
Exactly why I hit the Wildcard and not Free Hit. I only have Bruno from United and City and I wanted the triple up on both (no matter how risky it may be in these covid times).
Yeah WC makes more sense in that scenario. With FH you'd have been back to square one after this GW. City have dream fixtures and United are facing 3 of the bottom 5 between GW18-20.
The keeper options are bugging me. I already have three Arsenal, Spurs and City. This leaves De Gea, but I’m not 100% about Henderson not starting.
I could upgrade Smith-Rowe on the bench and change to Leno I guess. Not really liking Dier either, as it’s limited attacking threat, but I’m not sure I feel like risking the full backs.

I was Bruno up until last night, then switched to Kane. Fulham's been out with covid so I'd imagine they'll be well off the pace tonight.
Funnily enough, I did think about it.. then thought no which proves I'm not a top player (though my FF points and league position also prove it).
I've got a decent goalie, a couple of top Def's, Salah, Bruno, Rashford, Kane and I'd pick all them in a wildcard anyway so not getting huge benefit.
I've also got 10 players with doubles next week ... plus Kane. For me, existing team is 'ok' and rather hold WC for future issues/opportunities down the line.
Still leaning towards a FH as will give me 11 good/top players with a game this week (as opposed to 5, or 6 with 1 free transfer) and nearly all playing low league opposition BUT my only caution is that the 11 include 4 top players that I've already got.

Tempted to switch to Stones, seen as it’s confirmed Laporte is out. I would be gutted if I wasted the free hit and all of my first 11 players weren’t playing.

I had Cancelo in once earlier this season and guess what? It was the Burnley 5-0 game where he was rested. Rage transferred him out shortly after.

Yeah, the decision depends on a lot of things which will vary team to team. You can't JUST look at getting 11 players for GW18 or JUST look at getting doubles for GW19... it's 20 and after too.
As I already have 2 City and 2 United, WC doesn't have the upside it would for you so can see why you'd use it.
Maybe I'll get Dias instead of Cancelo. Not like Cancelo gets the attacking returns of Robertson and Dias is nailed as they get over at City.

Yep those 7 are with 2 free transfers. (with an outside chance of Taylor for Burnley making 8 - although we hope they get smashed anyway!)

I'm weighing up that young Arsenal mid for a -4. Gets rid of the dead weight of Bissouma, he'll very likely start and it gives a potential to cash in on some Arsenal spoils tonight.
Plus gives a better bench option for cheaper (albeit 0.1m)
I had Meslier and removed him due to the likelihood that Leeds now won't have a double next week. Johnstone & Areola are the others in that price range with doubles. I assume your route to Salah is via Son and Kane?

Even considering the DGW, I'd fancy Meslier vs Brighton over Areola vs Chelsea and United. Johnstone is probably the best pick of those 3 for the DGW with West Ham and Wolves.

That's my plan too. I tend to look at the captaincy when making these calls. Am I gonna captain him in 19 or 20? Nope. I'd argue that there's better options in 21 as well so I can go without for a while (fingers crossed).

Taking Leeds DGW out of the equation I've landed on Johnstone after taking a look just now.
Ownership has plummeted but I assume that's due to FH'ers of which there will be many, but I still think it won't be smooth sailing for Liverpool. I've gone most of the season without hugely owned assets like DCL so a few weeks with tricky fixtures without Salah should be okay...
