Fantasy Premier League 20/21

KDB on for two bonus points. Does that count as a return? Probably would with a clean sheet point too, but alas.

Bloody hell - but I will cherish those points!!

An 8 pointer takes it out of disaster material.

In real life footy - a great night of results for us though - win our Sheff Utd game and we'll move up nicely.

It isn't because he won't get them once the final calculations are in.

They often add points for a winning goal but not sure there's much to change with this one.

If he's got points it's for the key passes leading to chances. Them not being converted doesn't take away from him.

The two saves by Johnstone. KDB will get 1 BP at best once its done.

Feck, captaincy changed to KDB 5 mins before the deadline

I'm now wondering if shipping him for Son might be wise before Tottenham's good run.
KDB has Southampton and Everton away in between and the way they're playing they won't batter Newcastle in between.

It's all small mercies. No assists or goals was a killer on it's own.

However - this is clearly a game week for the real life results!
So roll on a United win and either a draw or Tottenham win top of the league.

No loss in the Arse Soton game either. Arsenal win - we can get above Soton. Soton win - we can revel in the Arsenal grief a bit more.

I wish I knew the answer my friend. Total impulse.

I know. Sucks. I will never rely on Pep ever again. The fraud.
Aha don’t worry mate. Last season I got 3 whole points from my triple captain. My mate
got minus points

Just saw Pep didn't even bring Mahrez or B Silva on.
In a game against a totally defensive team when desperate late on.

That is utterly bonkers.

Have got 1 pointers for triple captain the last two seasons.

Both Pep jobs obviously :)
Sane one year - double game week - came on as a late sub in game 2!
Sterling - single game week v Southampton about 10 days after they'd been battered 9-0 at home by Leicester!!

Guess I shouldn't have bothered swapping Salah for KDB and captaining him like the rest of you then.

Nope :)

This De Bruyne - Salah - Bruno triple I've got doesn't feel so brilliant right now!!

Feels good to see KDB getting poor outcome again, I have been saying since beginning of season he’s far from essential at that price and was shocked to see him rise to 11.9m. Last season was anomaly, he’s a 180-200 per season player which is great but not necessarily worth the premium price.

I feel I have done so much to allow me to have 4 big hitters and in the end I might be better off with the cheaper picks and more balance in the squad.

That might be true, but City have had arguably three of their easiest four games of the season in a short spell. KDB is still going to have likely delivered good value over that run.

gonna switch my midfield bench fodder to Podence to strengthen the squad depth over Christmas

was 0.1 off Neto but I reckon Podence has a chance of getting games up front so could work out better

He has, 24 points against Fulham and Burnley. As a long term option he’s not that awesome though, moving him for someone like Grealish or Son will free up a ton of funds to improve defence and depth while delivering similar or slightly lower total points for the season.

I may keep him until Everton. The way Everton and Southampton play, it will fall right into him. I sacrificed Salah to get KDB in and Salah is playing CP,Westbrom and Newcastle. So not sure how to get Salah back in without sacrificing KDB.

Strange time to say that though. Aguero is back and the next 4 games aren't going to be like today.

If not for shit finishing of Sterling and Gundogan, he would be sitting on 2 assists.

Looking ahead to the blanks and doubles in GW18 and 19, as I have already used my first wildcard, I’m not sure I can make a team using the 5 free transfers (as I lose one free hitting) that:
  • Gets Kane and Son in for GW16
  • Gives me a top tier captain each week until GW20
  • Is worth a bench boost. This would be my chip without hits:
    • Martinez at home to Everton
    • Bednarek away at Leicester and Leeds
    • Taylor away at West Ham and Liverpool
    • Brewster at home to Spurs

For nearly 12m you have to be expecting a 230+ points player. I don’t think he will be that this season although he will get games with high points which will inevitably prompt people quoting those posts with ‘I told you so’. So far he’s at 56 from 13 games (of which he has missed 2). I think he will finish just below or slightly above 200.

What's the best way to prepare for GW18 &19? I still have my wildcard, use it to get players with a DGW and free hit in GW18?

Yep, probably wildcard when it makes the most sense with GW19 in mind, free hitting in GW18.

Ideally you will leave it as late as possible to learn whether either of Villa’s matches gets added to GW19 too. It seems unlikely though given when Newcastle and City are playing in GW20 (Tuesday) and all the GW18 and 19 fixtures having unique timeslots.

Either one is not bad choice.

I opt to go with keeping Salah but that's just me. I think Pool will go all out attacking Spurs defense and get a penalty at most. KDB instead... I just don't trust City this season. They're way off. Something feels off, it's like they don't bother or something. But then it's against West Brom, a shit team supposedly but somewhat interesting results vs the top teams this season.

West Brom vs..
L 0-3 Leicester
D 3-3 Chelsea
L 0-1 Spurs
L 0-1 United

Take that as you will :) maybe City will do better... or maybe not. High chance City will win of course but how many goals is the question.
Wow, their "good" record for a shit team vs the top teams is ongoing.
Slaughter

D 1-1 City

As predicted, City is again unreliable. Didn't expect them to draw though. Man, they're so bad this season.

I thought I wouldn’t need to use free hit on GW18 and would maybe use it GW19 to ensure I have 11 players with doubles but it seems I would be 3 players short in GW18 and would have to take on some players I won’t really want to keep. Of my current team 8 guys will have a double on GW19 so that is probably better.

I might not actually have to use chips at all at this point.

More and more teams in my leagues are putting all 5 (Kane, Vardy, Son, Salah and Bruno) in. Is that a thing recently?

I know it looks tasty but you had to let go of many premiums. I can field that but it would mean have to get rid either one of Bamford/DCL, Grealish (forget getting Zaha in future) and the premium defenders. Doesn't sound fun to play with, bench sacked replaced with fodders. Getting high pts in return is fun of course, but it felt...

Do you have a link to show the fixture breakdown in those GWs per chance?

Think I’ll drop KDB to Son once those Spurs fixtures turn green soon.
Gives me scope to upgrade my attack. DCL and Kane is alright, but Brewster not getting a look in at Sheffield Utd makes it difficult.

Dias, Silva and Werner got me a grand total of 3 fecking points last night. Onwards and upwards I suppose.

Joke that KDB captainers have even got 8 points

I'm team Bruno, expecting him to come on at 91 minute mark as a tactical sub to grab 2 points while Salah, my vice-captain, scores and assists for the whole night today.

I got Martinez home to Burnley as my goalkeeper while McCarthy is stuck on bench. Fully expecting McCarthy to save two penalties and score a header while saving 17 shots while Martinez concedes two and gets a yellow.

Werner for DCL, Reguilon for Dier will mean I can buy Bruno Fernandes if I sell Zaha. I'd be left with 1.0 in the bank and with -4. Should I go ahead with that?

No bonus points for any West Brom player last night is an absolute farce.
