Right I'm going to have a punt and go with Ever Banega

Had a hit and miss season last year but has recently looked like the top class player we once knew ... Michael Carrick.

My first pick I can't believe has fallen this far. Definitely overrated by the english media however he has bags of pace, a great left foot and at 21 can still improve. Gareth Bale

My second pick is a versatile beast of a defender. great header of the ball, decent pace and a tough as nails attitude. Branislav ivanovic.

Driving me nuts picking between tonnes of left-backs,I think I'll take a player who impresses me more and more these days even if he may have one or two defensive frailties and that man is.

Marcelo

The real question is what happens when the teams are done. Plug em into FM with 200CA managers and let them run fOr a few seasons?

To Complete my defence, I'm gonna choose Pepe, think he is gonna be a perfect partner for Chillieni

I'd be against that - I thought the premise was to pick a team based on the performances of the players over the last three odd seasons (which is why I plumped for Scholes), as opposed to one for the future.

Gattuso peaked about 4 years ago (mostly due to injury to be fair) - was all downhill from there.

Anyway I am going to have limited internet access for the next week - so you will have to forgive me if there is a delay in picking, although I suspect it might be a slow period for us all.

Agreed.

And since this is the festive period I say for the next couple weeks the 24 hour rule is not in effect since people might be travelling etc.

I'll pick a right back and I'm going with Rafael

Certainly has the potential to be a world class full back and should keep Tevez from straying out of line.

finally, i was surprised he wasnt picked yesterday!

So now that 24hrs are passed, is it now Excal's turn?

Hi guys, sorry for the delay, been away at a family gathering for Christmas/Boxing Day. Not sure if it it's still my turn or if it should have passed me by but I'm going for Florent Malouda

German no. 1, one of the world's best young goal keepers.
Manuel Neuer

apologies for holding it all up, not got much time to think as in an internet cafe so I pick Leighton Baines as my left back = having a great season and always been a solid defender.
Second only to Cashley in the pecking order for England and apparently Bayern are lining up a January bid for him

My first pick is Thomas Vermaelen.Captain of the Belgian national team as a defender. Prior to his joining Arsenal he played for Dutch clubs Ajax and RKC Waalwijk. He is one of the many of Arsenal's vice captains. He is especially known for his potent threat as a goalscorer, in spite of being a central defender. Still young and apart from this season has been injury free.

My next pick is a relative unknown but I think he has the potential to be great. also he can play cb or on the left which provides versatility for my defense. Could have probably gotten him in a later round but didn't want to risk it. I am referring to Mamadou Sakho. In October 2007, on his league debut, he became the youngest player ever to captain a Ligue 1 club after wearing the armband in the club's 0–0 draw with Valenciennes. Sakho is also a French youth international having earned caps and captained all youth levels. He is currently playing on the under-21 team serving as the captain. Sakho's playing style and ability have led to the media and former players drawing comparisons to former French international Lilian Thuram.

i know he is equally hated as loved even by our own fans, but surely his performances this season warrant him being picked in this draft at some point?!

dimitar_berbatov13.jpg

Dimitar Berbatov

BTW could do with an update of the opening post with all the players that have been picked as I wasnt sure if Berba had been picked already or not.

Great value for this late in the draft. For me similar to Ibrahimovic ( who is more prolific). Ibrahimovic round 3, Berbatov round 11. very interesting.

Seeming as most of the generally regarded top keepers are gone I looked toward youth. This became difficult as there are several decent choices to be had. So I plumped for Joe Hart a player I thought was overhyped, but after this season Im converted:

Currently having a cracking season for Juventus, can play effectively as a deep lying playmaker which I certainly need very urgently.
