Fantasy Football Draft

I need more hair in my team.

Carlos Puyol

A part of me was hoping this player would be picked before it got back to my turn, as then I would most likely have picked my true love Diego Forlan. However this man just never goes away, even though he keeps telling us that he will - Carlos Tevez.

He has shown that he can lead the line and he is a real goalscorer, even if he is a massive cnut.

certainly some odd picks by my books.

i guess there that whilst there was some clarity earlier, people dont quite understand whether this is a team that (hypothetically) plays in a tournament tomorrow, or if its one that is meant to last for years and years. I would have thought the latter, but meh.

Are non-participants allowed to make suggestions for unpicked players?

i would prefer if you didnt.

I am picking my team based primarily on performances over the last 2/3 years, with a slight look to the future.

But if you want to discuss strengths and weaknesses of players who have been picked then feel free.

I have chosen my players based on what I would do if there was a draft for these players tomorrow. Whether it is a case of choosing players who are great now or choosing young players with potential for the future is, in my opinion, up to the individual selector and the approach they wish to take. So in that sense there is no definitive basis on which we are selecting. For example, you could choose somebody who has been fantastic in the last year or so like Sneijder, or choose Kaka who on previous form was a more complete player, but risk that injuries may prevent him from returning to that level.

Overall it should create some good debate afterwards about the strengths and weaknesses of each side. Some teams may be alot stronger on paper but not geared towards long-term success. There is no real criteria to find a unanimous winner - it's a case of different approaches and different justifications for your picks.

I didn't follow this thread yesterday so please excuse me if I have double picked here. I have checked it through and don't think I have.

Wingers, two of them this time. Both of them formed a potent attack with German champions league runners up Bayern Munich, they offer Pace, an eye for a pass, goals and that little something extra when a game is on the line.

My First pick: Ribery

My Second pick: Robben

I was quite suprised that neither of those had been chosen yet (especially Robben).

I was just as surprised as you. I was going to go for a striker plus another centre back but Eto'o had gone so it forced me to think about it a bit more and those two rounded off the midfield/wing positions perfectly. I am quite happy to say the least :).

Argh dammit I was lining up Robben next! For the record, if I had picked him before Tevez would you have picked Tevez or could I have had both?

Ok Robben's gone but I've got another Rob lined up in the same position. Should bring a bit of magic to the side
Robinho

Samir Nasri

Class player, having an excellent season so far. Surprised that he wasn't chosen so far.

Nasri is the kind of pick that is very 'of the moment' - the same draft 2 months ago and he wouldnt have even got a mention.

Yes I'm only picking him on current season's form but he has been excellent so far in the season, and with most of the good attacking midfielders already taken(unless I've forgotten someone), he was my only choice.

Toss up between a few players for my water-carrier, I have chosen:

Mascherano

cnut.

Right I also need a bit of steel to anchor my midfield and if you are going for that cnut, then who better than the bloke who keeps him out of the Barca starting line up - Sergio Busquets

Does all the hard work for Barca and Spain so that Xavi and Iniesta can do their thing. Still just a young lad as well.

Don't deny it you would of had him ahead of Biscuits ;). As would many critical Barca fans it seems.

I actually was already choosing between those 2 and a 3rd option for my defensive midfielder. I honestly had decided on Busquets even before your choice - although that is mostly based on him being chosen ahead of Masch by Guardiola, and he is a World Cup winner so you cant argue with that!

Yeah it was a major toss up for me.

I went with Mascherano for formation purposes. I'll need a real destroyer, as opposed to a holding player.

Also there is one player I'm flabbergasted hasn't been picked yet.

Kleberson is a world cup winner

Havne't started on my back five and since i won't get a pick for a while i need to make sure I get the best GK left. I think its fair to say the top 3 in this position are Cech,Buffon and Cassilas. But with buffon's injury problems i think he has fallen behind the other two. having seen both players play numerous times I do think Cassilas is a bit over rated and thus I pick Petr Cech.

as for my second pick I really should pick a defender but I can't believe he has not been picked yet. A player who can win a match on his own. amazing skill, a great finish and good pace. Maybe his team's struggles have masked his true ability. I pick Sergio Kun Aguero.

The likes of Kleberson, Guivarch & co are also WC winners.

Also, you should use this for Busquets, his most famous moment:

Having said all that, I still think your team is the best so far.

Well he is a WC & CL winner, and a vital part of both those teams.

Having difficulty with my next choice ...

Ok I struggled about making this choice but at the end of the day he is one of the best in the world in his position and always had a decent partnership with Rio so I give you the epic cnut that is ... JT

I'm going for a man who I believe was superior to Terry on a consistent basis at Chelsea and is doing the business at Madrid and that man is:

Ricardo Carvalho

Quite surprised that Fletcher hasn't been picked so far, he is my pick.

(will add photo later, as posting from phone)

So you'd rather have him than Anderson or Carrick?

Ando has been playing really well for the last 3-4 games whereas Carrick hasn't been better than Fletch so far.

I guess this debate is for another thread!

La Liga, Champions League, European Championship and World Cup winning shot stopper Iker Casillas

so Stobzilla has another 3 hours to pick (24hr rule) before the pick goes back to The White Pele again ... the clock is ticking !

Right my computer is fecked and i cant use works so im on my ps3 typing with my pad. no pics or great words for these two. ladies n gents. Walter Samuel and Pepe Reina.
