Fantasy Football 2017/18

that's all well and good but...why one do I pick each week  I may just leave it down to the flip of a coin.

From now until the end of the season, which player out of Salah and Kane gets the most points? I'm going to keep track
Tell you what, we can talk it through every week if you're up for it. Let me get Kane first though :nervous:

No Alonso. After persisting with Christensen for weeks to terrible luck, I finally decide to bring in Alonso to replace him. Chelsea are FPL poisom this season..

Kane or Salah captain is a tough one this week. Arsenal look on fire (I think), but Spurs will surely be super up for it. Salah is so consistent though.

I've been tempted by Sanchez - but how can you afford to have him in your team as well as Salah and Kane, without having severe deficiencies elsewhere?

IMO he needs to be getting Salah-level points to make him worth it at that price. If he gets goals and assists v Newcastle and Chelsea, I might need to reconsider.

Such a strange one, I had Alonso as well.

There will definitely be teams out there with Alonso, Jones, Gomez, Chillwell, Pogba... What a disaster :nervous:

He is such a great differential, if you think Salah is going to run out of steam towards the end of the season then it could be a massive move. If you are already leading your Mini Leagues etc. or near the top it's a huge gamble.

Tough one, I'm 99% sure Arsenal will concede. Spurs were fantastic against us but Arsenal are on a high atm with Auba, Ozil, Mhiki, Ramsey performing. Score Draw maybe?

Liverpool on the other hand were pretty comfortable against Southampton earlier in the season. Salah bagged two goals as well.

I flipped a coin...Salah has the armband :wenger:

Aguero to get his finger out and bang in a couple this weekend. He keeps the armband.

I moved Vardy in for Firmino, who's been getting similar points, and Gross in for Pogba. Sanchez was in for Son.
So still have Salah, Sterling, and Kane, plus DDG, Monreal and Jones at the back. Hegazi and Ayew are my fillers but they also bring in points.

I needed a differential, so thought feck it. The way he's looked so far, he should be involved in a lot of stuff we do, and even though we still aren't great we're gonna score a few goals.

Eurgh. Horrible week. My lead at the top of the work league is now down to 15 points.

No time to be titting about so arm band on Salah this weekend.

Anyone know what's wrong with Alonso? Was it just a rest? If so I'll roll the transfer, if not I might have move him out and upgrade the midfield at the same time.

The appeal with Sanchez, is that he's a United player. Captain him, and it's even more of a bonus that he does well. Willing on one of your own, rather than hoping Salah scores for liverpool (urgh). It was like that with lukaku at the start of the season, and why myself and many others held onto him for too long.

I have Wilson as my 2nd striker option rather than Firminio or Aguero.

Im with you here. Its a game of value pr million spent and he needs to produce more to be worthy of his high price - I'll wait to after Chelsea too..

But he's on penalties too so it is tempting

I have Hazard and Rudiger plus 1M which I can utilise to bring in Sanchez. I can save 0.1 by swapping Rudiger with a defender of 5.8M or less. Then Hazard -> Sanchez is a direct swap.

My team currently is Fabianski; Jones, Otamendi, Rudiger; Salah, Pogba, Hazard, Doucoure, Ibe; Kane, Firmino. Elliott, Naughton, Long, Jordan Ayew.

What's everyone's thinking around the end of season BGW/DGW upcoming clusterfeck? Having wasted my triple captain on Kane I've got to make the best use of the Wildcard, BB & Free Hit chips to top my work league.

From what I can tell GW31 looks like being very thin on the ground with only Stoke vs Everton and Liverpool vs Watford confirmed at the moment. There will probably be one more game added to that after the next round of the FA Cup (probably Huddersfield vs Palace assuming we beat them in the cup).

So...

GW31 - BGW (possibly only 3 matches)
GW34 - potential DGW
GW35 - Another BGW (due to FA Cup Semis)
GW37 - potential DGW

I see 2 options...

1) Be happy with putting a team out in GW31 that maybe only has 6/7 players (3 Liverpool, Walcott, Pickford, Shaquiri...), wildcard before GW34 and stack up to use the BB in the first DGW, Free Hit in GW35 to get the best 11 available, make a really strong 11 for the second DGW in 37 (bearing in mind that City will have probably won the league by then so won't be playing their best team)

2) Use the Free Hit in GW31, wildcard into the first or second DGW with a BB on the best one and work around GW35 as best you can (although this one should have more games in it than GW31)

I think most people will field a weak team in GW31 and I don't want to force transfers in for that week alone knowing that it might hinder me in earlier gw's. I will probably add 2 more Liverpool players to Salah (Firmino & a defender), Walcott will probably come in as well and I already have Shaquiri and Pickford. Only players I would fancy adding to that are maybe Doucoure or Milivojevic & maybe a Palace defender. I think they are transfers that won't harm my team too much in the build up to that GW and I can wildcard them out soon enough after. Thoughts?

Where do you find the source of what is confirmed? Trying to lay this puzzle myself, but its been too much of a mess. Maybe we can put it all together in here though - I guess its also a calculation of probability on who goes through.

Various places. But yeah we'll know more after the next round of the FA Cup. The way the draw is at the moment though suggest GW31 is gonna be pretty barren for fixtures.

Just transferred in Robertson for Ogbonna so that's my Liverpool defender sorted. Playing this week

---------------Pickford----------------

Alonso------Ottamendi-------Robertson

Salah (c)--Shaquiri--Lingard--Sterling

Kane (vc)-----Aguero------Wilson

subs: Elliott, Shaw, Albrighton, Maguire

Okay so I've got a lot of sparetime today, so I tried to create an overview of all the games to find out when to save the wildcards for - CL included as top 4 teams might rest players for this too.

Probably only makes sense to me, but thought I'd share it

GW27 - 10. feb - 12. feb - All confirmed (Predictable good fixtures: MAU, LIV, CHE, CITY - Bad: Spurs vs Arsenal)

CL - 13. feb - 14. feb - 1/8 finals: Basel vs City, Juve vs Spurs, Porto vs Liverpool

FACUP - 16. feb - 19. feb - 5th round (LEI vs Sheff utd, CHE vs Hull, sheff wed vs SWA, WBA vs SOT, BRI vs coventry, hud vs MAU, rochdale vs SPU, wigan vs CITY)

- - - Having two free subs to long term plan here is a good idea - after this week we'll know who goes through from the FA Cup and how teams prioritise

CL - 20. feb - 21. feb - 1/8 finals: Chelsea vs Barca, Sevilla vs Man United

GW28 - 24. feb - 01. mar - All confirmed (Arsenal vs City in the league is rescheduled but placed in same gameweek (28) due to Carabao Cup final also between these too)

GW29 - 03. mar - 05. mar - All confirmed (Predictable good fixtures: Spurs, Liverpool, Arse, United - Bad: City vs Chelsea)

GW30 - 10. mar - 12 mar - All confirmed (Predictable good fixtures: Chelsea, Spurs, City - Bad: United vs Liverpool)

GW31 - 16. mar - 18. mar - Some confirmed: Sto vs Eve, Liv vs Wat - Possibly: Hud vs Cpa (if United win against HUD in Fa Cup), Bou vs WBA (If WBA lose to SOT at home in FA Cup)

Possibly delayed if favorites win: Bur vs CHE, SPU vs new, LEI vs ars, SWA vs SOT (both in FA cup), wha vs MAU, MAC vs bri

FACUP - 17 mar - Quarterfinals (If favorites goes through: Lei, Che, Swa, Wba / Sot, Bri, Mau, Spu, City)

GW32 - 31. mar - 1. apr - Unconfirmed (Predictable good fixtures: Liverpool, United, City, Arsenal - Bad: Chelsea vs Spurs)

CL - 03. apr - 04. apr - CL 1/4 finals 1st leg

- - - Space for putting in delayed fixtures in midweek, but not for CL teams: Man United, City, Liverpool likely - Spurs/Chelsea in doubt due to tough opponents - - -
.. There's also a risk of these matches not being played here as they would compete with viewers for the Champions League

If Spurs goes out in CL: Spurs vs Newcastle could be played here
If Chelsea goes out in CL: Burnley vs Chelsea could be played here

GW33 - 07. apr - Unconfirmed (Predictable good fixtures: Arsenal, Spurs - Bad: City vs United - Everton vs Liverpool)

CL - 10. apr - 11. apr - CL 1/4 finals 2nd leg

GW34 - 14. apr - Unconfirmed (Predictable good fixtures: Arsenal, United, City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs)

FACUP - 21. apr - semifinals: My guess would be that some of City, Che, Spurs and United would be in this) - This will delay games in GW35.

GW35 - 21. apr - Unconfirmed (The above mentioned clubs endangered games are: MAC vs swa, bou vs MAU, CHE vs hud, bri vs SPU)

- - - Delayed games, also due to the endangered games from GW35 are likely to be placed here, making GW35 tempting
- If an english team is in the CL semifinals and FA Cup they probably will only play one of two delayed games here

Predictably good fixtures: (Arsenal, United, Spurs, Chelsea, City, Liverpool)

CL - 24 apr - 25. apr - Semifinals first leg - City might still be here, making it a really tight schedule for them with possibly the FA Cup also

GW36 - 28. apr - Unconfirmed - (Predictable good fixtures: Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea, City - bad: United vs Arsenal)

CL - 01. may - 02. may - Semifinals second leg - City might still be here, making it a really tight schedule for them with possibly the FA Cup also

GW37 - 05. may - Unconfirmed - (Predictable good fixtures: United, City, Spurs - Bad: Chelsea vs Liverpool)

GW38 - 13. may - No Double gameweek - (Predictable good fixtures: Arsenal, Liverpool, United, City, Spurs)

Conclusions at this point:
- City will likely have a very packed schedule if they go through the cups as expected. Lots of rotation here making players not so hot as they've won the league already
- The delayed games in GW31 are all "easy" games for Spurs, United, City. They will go into a double gameweek at some point, which will be around GW32 or GW35 or even GW36/GW37
- GW35 seems tempting as all big clubs have easy games here and possibly good delayed games for top clubs will be placed here
- Personally I'll save up two free subs for GW28 and then see how teams prioritize CL
- 3 Liverpool players seems good in the next 1-5 games except for a trip to Old Trafford GW34
- Chance of the delayed games being spread out a lot, even into GW36 or GW37 if a team goes far in both FA Cup and CL (City, United)
- Holding on to all my wildcards to see what happens after GW31 - Most likely using all of the wildcards in GW35 or after

... Other conclusions not related:
- Burnley players have a great schedule.
- Spurs have a good run in from GW33 (including a possibly double gameweek 35)

@ROFLUTION good research there. My only comment about holding all of the chips until GW35 is you can only use 1 per gameweek so don't get caught out.

Also you should give https://twitter.com/BenCrellin a follow on twitter. He has done an insane amount of research on the blanks/dgws.

It is possible, here is my team:

There are obviously some weak spots, but overall I am pretty happy with it. I think I will try to get in Mkhi for Pogba perhaps in the next few weeks.

WhaWhaWhaaaat.. Thanks for the heads up :nervous: Would have been a terrible week for me then - So can I use sub-all I want (not the one for a week) and also triple captain in the same week?

When you use a wild card, you cannot use any other chip like TC or BB (or obviously not FH either, which you wouldn't need anyway).

You've managed it, but you're right, definite weaknesses. That midfield is great but I'd be tempted to downgrade Pogba (to someone like Shaqiri, Gross, Deuleofeu?) to put more funds into a better defender (from Spurs, or Phil Jones, or Monreal after Arse's next few tough fixtures). Bench is weak too but obviously it gives you that midfield
