Fantasy Draft DISCUSSION ONLY Thread

Sharky's got a sharp defence squad already. Looking forward to his wing backs. It'll be something interesting to watch I hope.
I'm also interested in who Erics Collar would pick.

Carrick was my next choice.

Leaves me with Adams, Carrick and Cantona as my spine, which is pretty good methinks.

Just hope there are some goalkeepers left:nervous:

I'm torn on whether to get a striker, centre back or a GK next :nervous:

Well you have a midfielder and a defender already so I would opt for either a striker or a goalkeeper.

Got someone in mind for both positions, but I assume they will be taken by the time my next turn comes around.

I have a list prepped. Fact!

I have roughly 10 players in each position which I've narrowed down to 3 first choices but some are close calls.

I'm not geeky enough as to have created a list, but it is probably something I should consider doing if I am to win this.

Who's next? I've confused myself with the backwards and forwards nature of this game, and the fact that people have missed.

It must be very difficult to follow a list up and down. Take a break after your brew.

I'm used to doing most things myself anyway, unfortunately:(

Which players have you got in mind M13? PM me and we'll share our secrets, I don't trust Solius enough.

Suprised Carrick got picked that early but I suppose there is an inevitable bias towards recent United star players

1) SharkyMcShark: Schmeichel, Pallister, Bruce
2) R.Nilsson7: Henry, Makelele, G. Neville
3) The Law of Denis: Shearer, McGrath, Ince
4) esmufc09: Cantona, Adams, Carrick
5) Ace: Ruud, Le Tissier, Campbell
6) Solius: Giggs, Irwin
7) Erics Collar: Keane, Vidic
8) M13 Red: Bergkamp, Lampard
9) roodboy: Scholes, Owen
10) Cal?: C.Ronaldo, VDS
11) Smash-E: Cech, Gerrard
12) Danish Voice: Evra, Andy Cole
13) SirAF: Ferdinand, Beckham
14) Fort Boyard: Vieira, Fabregas
15) Vinay: Ole, Stam
16) Melvin Yeo: Rooney, Zola

Eric, in anticipation of the 11th and final pick of the draft for each one of us, if the current trend be maintained would see Sharky, the first on the draft list pick first 6 times (last 5 times) and Melvin pick last 6 times (first 5 times).

I'd suggest that for the 11th pick, that is to say once Sharky has made his 10th pick, we could start from the middle - the #8 or the #9 on the list and move alternately one on each side. The sequence, therefore:

8
9
7
10
6
11
5
12
4
13
3
14
2
15
1
16

This way both of Sharky and Melvin would have picked first and last the same number of times roughly...

I know that the central guys would like this idea... :D

Against.

Don't be hating - and remember I have to wait another 30 picks between mine.

Besides, there's plenty of Titus Bramble to go around for everyone

Honestly, I don't think it'd make much difference come the 11th pick, so let's just stick to the way it was going.

Vinay, let's seriously just keep it simple, I understand your wanting to pick more.

I'll be honest and I think that this game is fair, and most certainly entertaining the way it is.

So what if you don't get the players you want? Tough luck! Rather, I'd like to say that if you want a different approach to rules, might as well shorten the length of time a user has to choose.

Exactly. Let's keep it simple, and fun. This is not a race to the death or anything.

And it'd be the user's fault if they can't think of any great players they could add. They should've thought better than to enter the draft in the first place.

Im quite happy with third! No reason to change it IMO, its the luck of the draw

As an outsider with no advantage to gain, I'd say this is a good point. Keep it as it is. The rules were set out, even if you don't agree with them, changing it part-way through is even worse!

Going well though, some very good picks coming out. Solius next I see, will he start building his right-hand side now? He's arguably got the best left side pairing in Prem history...

Obviously I would support Vinay's suggestion as it helps me but to be honest it probably makes it a bit complicated - plus by the time we get to the 11 round of picks, I dont think it is going to matter that much - bound to see some really random picks by that point.

Erics Collar - was the order chosen by random pick? If so then there is not really any need to change it

Yeah, I believe he drew at random the order of play and the 16 participants from all those interested in the original thread.

I think it's a load of shit, we should re-draw and start the whole thing again...

:D

Crossing Dwight Yorke off my list now.

I've got a list of about 6 Strikers which I hope won't be gone by the time my net choice comes around.

Yup, it was drawn completely at random. Believe it or not, I had to draw it twice, because the first time I drew it, my name came out first and I didnt think you'd all believe me!!! :D:D

I was actually thinking about it yesterday - the last round of the draft that is. My maths failed me though and I thought it ended going backwards (i.e. with Sharky last).

I might just do another draw for the last round, if people think thats fair. Alternatively, I can just leave it as is..... We'll see when the time comes.

Also, I just want to say Im absolutely delighted with how this has gone. I expected people to lose interest in waiting, or to mess up the other thread but its gone brilliantly, so give yourselves a pat on the back! :)

Eric's Collar, quite honestly, I don't think it really would matter by the time it's round 11. Most likely all the greats are gone, and people would be resorting to "current" players that are good or on their way to great (at the most).

I reckon by round 11, we might be seeing who knows their history of the Premier League, or not. (Vinay seems most likely right now, seeing as how he seems desperate to change the rules)

You need to bare in mind that by pick 11, everyone will have different priorities anyway, position wise that is. I can't see it making much difference. Luck of the draw and all that.

Tells you what, M13 has made a shrewd, shrewd pick right there...

I'm hoping I won't regret this.

Again, people making sweeping statements.

For me, personally (#15 in the list), it does not change anything much at all. With my proposition, instead of picking second last for the 11th pick, I'd be picking third last (big difference, huh?). I was just having a thought about equilibrating things around between Melvin and Sharky. But, seeing the overwhelming feeling people are so quickly adjudicating to me about trying to change rules for my benefit, I surely am first to give it all up.

But, again, it's up to you, Erics_Collar...

And then, actually, if it were down to just luck, then, Sharky should have had first pick for all the rounds. Erics' idea of having Sharky start and then when one round's done to have Melvin start was to give all a fair chance. And in this spirit of fairness, I was making my suggestion.
