Hurry up Cal... pick before I have to head to work... or else it's goiing to be my turn to slow things down :(

Sorry, fell asleep watching La Liga last night...

Done and quite surprised 10th picks get me the best player in the World...

Incidently, I wonder when anyone will risk it and pick the starfish, or would everyone be too concerned with the anti-Scouse voting...

He's just a one season wonder ;)

Im not suprised he got picked relatively early but i reckon he needs to do it for a few seasons more to be considered among the all time Premier League greats.

That's the problem with current players, people expect them to do more for a few seasons, but there aren't that many players who has done and won what Ronaldo has over the last couple of seasons.

Henry never won the World Footballer of the Year or the Ballon d'Or, and Ronaldo has arguably won more already in his club career...

Anyway, can someone ask Laphroaig to delete his post in the picks thread...

Oh, are comments illegal in that one? (Yes it said so in bold.) Sorry.

Well, I'll repeat it here then: "Quite sad to see that two of the first three picked arseholes. Shearer rather than Cantona or Giggs? Jesus Christ. I will vote consistently against the swede and the Denis Law fella."

Cant argue with that to be honest - the current stars vs old legends is always difficult to compare ...

Although I will say that I always thought Henry was hard done by never to win the Ballon D'Or whilst in his prime.

Here are a number of players I'd like to see soon:

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Jaap Stam
Patrice Evra
Rio Ferdinand

Oh for the love of God you're giving away some of the picks I want to make!

In fairness, my next intended pick is a United player that's not there.

21 more players before you go again, I doubt whoever you have in mind will still be there.

I picked Cech. I guess that may be lame to you guys, but there aren't many quality keepers around. I wanted Cristiano

Wise pick, good keepers are going to be at a premium - I too wanted Ronaldo first, but went big Pete instead...

Realistically, and I know this kind of counts as helping the enemy, but how many more are there?

Van Der Sar
Given
Friedel
James (although if you're taking the average of his PL performances that might not be so wise)
Seaman
Barthez?
Reina?

Definately not Barthez.

Seaman would be netx best imo... then prolly VDS and Friedel..

I have already said it, I'm picking John "never conceeded a Premiership goal" O'Shea as my keeper.

I liked him too... but I guess most people will remember him for his mistakes.. myself included. Howard wasn't bad in his first season either

Taibi wasn't bad for his first game...

Bosnich I remember him looking very good in that Toyota cup game...

Thinking about it, this is a great post by you.

You have already got the best keeper in history of the game and you subtlely hint to everyone that they should pick keepers and hence they won't all be taking the outfield players before your next pick.

Well done sir...

The mind games begin

Some very good first choices, but Evra is not amongst them. Brilliant player, but I wouldn't have him on my top 10 all time Premier League players, therefore he shouldn't go in that early! Sorry, Danish Voice...

I'm quite surprised he picked Evra, could be a cunning vote winner though (given the level of support Evra has on the Caf).

I agree he's the best leftback, but leftbacks tend not to be the most important player in the team.

Getting a first pick so down the line is a tough thing to take in... Just need to make two quick good picks - will not be able to do another for a long, long time...

I won't discount this choice as much as you do... All the first picks are justified in their own way...

Picked Rio now, was extremely difficult to choose between him and a couple others that will probably be gone until its my turn again.

By the way, Erics Collar, FANTASTIC initiative with these threads and idea !

Hoping this wont be the last one :D

Maybe. I just think Irwin or A.Cole - or even Evra himself - could have been available further down the line whilst you get the absolute best the league has had to offer.

He's not one of the 10 best no, but he's one of the best left backs and at some point you would have to pick one. There aren't many out there I can think of.

If I was the number one and had to wait 32 picks until it was my turn again, i would not have picked him as the first.

I've picked... went for Vieira, maybe controversial as most will hate him...

But i needed a captain and midfield general.

So a bit tactical eh?! He's a class player, obviously, I was just saying. I guess if you have at least one player who is the absolute best in their position (not everyone can) then you're in with a fighting chance.

Good choice.

This might be an appropriate response to Danish, but with 176 players to be picked, there is going to have to be some serious thinking outside the box. You might need to say to yourself in some situations "I could do a lot worse than..."

feck I wish I was involved in this!

So far

1) Schmeichel
2) Henry
3) Shearer
4) Cantona
5) Ruud
6) Giggs
7) Keane
8) Scholes
9) Bergkamp
10) C.Ronaldo
11) Cech
12) Evra
13) Ferdinand
14) Vieira

I thought about Vieira, honestly there aren't that many great CMs around, but Ronaldo was always going to be my first choice.

Yeah in your position I'd have probably gone for Ronnie.

I wonder who will be the first to come out and admit that Gerrard would be a decent addition.

Honestly I might pick him if it comes round to my turn and he's still available.

A bit tactical yeah. My first choices all over midfield and in attack were gone as I'm slightly biased, so I could only get second best there. There'll still be a few class players left when it's my turn next time, so I thought: Why not take a Caf legend and get one of my first choices in the team.

But this is going to be difficult...
