Gaming Fallout 4

Still playing, still enjoying. I've stopped taking the weapon/armour modding perks since my first play-through (besides level 1 of armorer) and it's made exploration quite a bit more fun, was too easy to get suppressed weapons etc. before and scavving about became a bit of a chore as my equipment was always better. Now, not the case.

Had the day off work today so I binged this all weekend and today

Got the platinum now and I'm done....until the DLC

By the way I rate the game highly

It's hard to separate this, part 3 and New Vegas. All outstanding games

But still think NV reigns supreme

Was it too similar to the previous games for you?

I was hungry for a new fallout so I was more than happy it was more of the same
No I was wanting it to be the same as NV and 3 and found it to be different. Went from RPG to generic shooter. You had so much choice in Fallout New Vegas in how you want to do quests and various different dialogue choices.

Fallout 4 took most of that away with the shitty new dialogue system of yes/no/sarcastic and the quests are very poor in terms of choice and consequences. Really hurts the replay ability too as there is no point. The pictures below shows it well. 4 had nothing like that and Bethesda really need to hire new writers too. The likes of Witcher 3 are making them look very poor in comparison.

I must be alone in this whole world that just can't get into The Witcher 3.

Most overrated game in quite a while for me. I think it's a bit shit to be honest. The controls, the story, your character seems to be floating all the time and doesn't respond well at all.

The only thing it has going for it are the graphics imo. I remember saying that the graphics were the most important aspect in gaming for me but man was I wrong.

I've had way more fun playing Fallout 4 than I did in The Witcher 3.

Survival mode is on the way and DLC info will be announced soon.

I'm level 58, nearly 100 hours in (a lot of settlement building admittedly) and I still haven't finished the main quest, or even alienated a faction yet.

edit - i said 200 hours to sound cool
I'm at level 55 and sitting on the decision which faction to choose. I feel the BOS would be the wisest choice but then again feels a bit boring.

Should make my choice because it's quite annoying being sided with all of them. I was on a Railroad quest to kill some Courser and was shooting him close ranged with a snubnosed .44 but he didn't fight until he was practically out of HP. Just kept blasting in his face (pause) and he was offed. Same thing with the Raider boss Cutty who was with him, no reaction what so ever.

Fallout 4 season pass is free for EU users due to a glitch on Playstation store. Get it activated.

I missed out by a few seconds (saw it on Reddit).

Sad times

Trailer for next DLC, Wasteland Workshop.

If you're not a fan of the settlement building mechanic, don't bother watching. Personally, I've spent half my time in the game building bases so I think this looks great.

I got to the point where you need to make serious faction choices and lost interest as none of the factions i gave a shit about, they're all cnuts.

Latest update for this is on steam, expected on consoles next week.

Biggest inclusion is Survival Mode, which looks like it will make the game far more immersive, challenging, and frustrating as feck probably.

Next DLC (and apparently the biggest DLC Bethesda have ever done) Far Harbor will be out some time in May. Should add a lot more content.

I think the Content Creator (mods!) Is currently available in beta only.

Anyone else still play this? I'm on consoles but really looking forward to starting a new save for Survival and Far Harbor should be an interesting addition.

Right, I'm going to give this another go after being underwhelmed in my first 25 hour venture.

Any recommendations for the most fun build. I will be leaving speech well alone. Too many wasted perks last time

You have to play on Survival. Completely changes the game.

The easiest builds on Survival rely on Stealth. I'm trying the opposite - melee character who runs in and smashes people with a baseball bat. High stats in Strength and Endurance. I have died so many times.

Maybe I went around far harbor the wrong way but I don't think I ever came across much if any fog at all
I must say, some enemies I just avoided just for the sheer pain in the arses they could be (Gulper devourer being the main ones)

I did have a fun battle with with shipbreaker though. I was quite shocked and confused when my legendary fat man that with a critical shot did little to no damage on it.
All in all, a good DLC. Point lookout still number 1 for me, but this was definitely up there.

My only complaint is, as I went down the Institue path, decided after sending out the message about being good etc, I thought I could change how they operate, but nope, so want to destroy everything

Leave gaming and never look back.

Anyone still playing this? I finally started Far Harbor yesterday and it's brilliant. Got an atmospheric feel, it looks great, some challenging (fecking terrifying) new enemies and so far, an interesting plot.

Haven't touched the Vault building stuff yet, will try that out when I'm done in Far Harbor.

Far Harbor was very good to be fair.
Only disappointing thing for me is the lack of DLC content.

Far harbour and Nuka World seem like the only real DLC.

The others, workshops are just a bit pointless really.

Yep. While it's cool they are adding more to the settlement building stuff, it's not for everyone. More story driven DLCs (even if they were on the smaller side, like Automatron, which introduced some cool features) should have been included imo.

I played all of the first dlc's

Far harbour is great. The robot one is ok

And breeding animals and making them fight is fun for 5 mins

Definitely, to say they raised the price of the season pass due to the amount of content them bringing out (Nuka World apparently being the last), I think the DLC doesn't compare to Vegas or Fallout 3.

The workshops would have been better if base building was better. Their just isn't really a point to it, apart from the achievements

I'm still playing it, but only to finish the main storyline.

Has anyone modded it yet? What are the best ones?

Thinking about giving this a go. Really liked Fallout 3 but Fallout Vegas not as much. The annoying part of Fallout for me is searching through shit looking for stuff. Seems like that's what I spent most of the time doing while playing previous Fallout games. I'm the OCD guy who searches everything in case there's something good. For those who've played, is Fallout 4 the same as previous games in that regard?

Theoretically everything is useful as items can be scrapped for their parts, so your OCD will go up to 11.

If you already have a plasma rifle, don't bother picking it up to repair your other.

Adhesive and wood on the other hand, collect that shit!

Very good game though, would recommend, although I am probably biased as I have a huge addiction to Fallout

Currently at level 17, prolly played close to 50 hours... and the game is really starting to drag. Went scavenging for quite a bit, fixed up Sanctuary (80% happy), completed some of the missions, but not enjoying it very much at all. Really close to giving up on this. Loved Fallout 3, liked Vegas, but this one just sorta seems aimless. Bored of mowing through the same old raiders and super-mutants. Does it start picking up soon? Rarely never not finish a game but that might change here as I just can't quite get into it.

If you're only level 17 after 50 hours of playing, it's no wonder it gets a bit boring. Get the story going and increase the difficulty to get better gear.

What on earth is with this game? I went for it because it was cheap on the PSN and I really enjoyed Fallout 3, but this has just been horrible so far. The world is just one big lifeless pile of nothing. It's like they created this big world for you to explore but decided to put very little thought and effort into making it interesting. I'm temped to just stick with Dark Souls 3 and all the little PS plus freebies instead.

It's crap?

I don't know why I should be, but I'm still always perplexed by how much people want to talk up a rubbish game in a series they like. I played Fallout 4 for a few hours and have never gone back, it's just turd and every aspect is half-arsed and unfinished.

It really is. I'm trying my best to enjoy the but failing miserably. The world seems to exist and be large just to exist and be large.

Great review. I will pass on this game now.
