The disparager
What a player, he deserves to start the next game, over Antony or Garnacho, I don't really care who but he deserves to start over both of them.
Hes not the answer people
Hes not the answer people
And he is not good enough. Everyone forgets his limited starts last season (where he was clearly not ready) because of a couple of decent runs against tired defenders. He's really the only option who suits the right wing role in the way that Ten Hag has chosen to structure the side though, in possession.
Continuing playing Antony is?
Antony was better than him last season. I don’t like Antony but this kid isn’t the answer, the answer is the transfer window
Or buy a cheaper and better player. So buy another 100m player like Antony?
Or buy a cheaper and better player.
Almost every over club did…That seems so simple, I wonder how we didn't figure it out earlier.
Sancho should be starting the next gameIf he doesn't start the next game, he should request a transfer. If he can't get any minutes after Antony's horror shows, he never will.
He looks decent in each cameo he makes. It doesn't necessarily mean he will play well as a starter, but I'd like to see it.
I would start Sancho, Rashford, and Pellistri. Antony and Garnacho should both drop out.Sancho should be starting the next game
Fair enough. I’m thinking Sancho might be the better option down the middle next weekend. Rashford doesn’t want to put in the work against opposition CBs and he doesn’t have the close control to bring others in. Sancho isn’t physically strong but might be able to work in those pockets - in preseason he was carrying the ball very well in central spaces. Rashford - Sancho - Pellistri may be a good front three at home for one game till the CF is fit.I would start Sancho, Rashford, and Pellistri. Antony and Garnacho should both drop out.
Antony is actually (normally) very good at retaining possession - better than all our other wingers. His usual problem is how little he returns teams with the ball. He is picked for his excellent off the ball work and good ball retention. On Saturday even the ball retention went to pieces presumably because the score line forced us to be aggressive and he simply doesn’t have the talent / confidence to force the issue unless that means bad execution or long range curlers. He's more exciting that Antony. But he's just as prone to losing the ball.
I think we first and foremost need a pair of wingers who can hold the ball up in advanced positions.
Our first phase from defence to midfield is fine. So is our second phase from midfield to the wingers. The issue is that Garnacho and Antony have been way too prone at losing the ball cheaply, when their job is to hold up the ball so that the rest of the formation can push up behind them to close up the gaps in midfield. I don't think Pellistri helps at this point in his development because of his lack of physicality.
His role should be as an impact sub for the forseeable. He's fantastic running at tired legs. Less so, being the patient ball progressor we need in order to control possession better.
Antony was actually given opportunities, something that wasn't afforded to Pellistri.Antony was better than him last season. I don’t like Antony but this kid isn’t the answer, the answer is the transfer window

Hojlund will be fit in a couple of weeks, so Sancho will provide competition for Antony on the right and Rashford will be back on the left. I guess that's the thinking. So we are leaving Antony with pretty much no competition whatsoever for few months? Great decision.
