Facts about football that shouldn't be true - but are

United had more expected points after 24 PL games last season, before Bruno signed, than they had this season after 24 PL games with Bruno. The same is still true after 26 games in both seasons.

Yet we've scored 15 more goals this season than at the same stage last season.
Mainly down to Bruno...

Stats eh...

Salford were EFL Cup holders for just 24 hours.
After beaten poopsmuff on penalties in yesterday's Wembly final then Sunderland winning the trophy by beaten Tranmere today.
As poopsmuff were the holders before yesterday's final that means there were 3 holders of the same trophy in the space of just about 26 hours.
That's got to be a record!

Scholes and Rooney played 8 and a half seasons together and Scholes only assisted Rooney on one occasion..

The 2007 semi against Milan.

Just read one stat that blew my mind.

Arsene Wenger has still won more Premier league matches than Tottenham. Wenger is on 476 wins, Tottenham on 475.

Scholes and Rooney played 8 and a half seasons together and Scholes only assisted Rooney on one occasion..

The 2007 semi against Milan.
That is hilarious, one of the strangest stats for sure.

That one assists counts for 10 though. What a pass that was

A true statement about performance metrics is still a fact.

I found it very surprising, considering the narrative around Bruno and how much United have supposedly kicked on and improved thanks to his signing.

This is why watching the games is preferrable to jerking off to spreadsheets.

West Ham are unbeaten this season against Spurs and everyone else outside the traditional big 6 :wenger:

Edit: Lost to Newcastle early on

Scholes' brain operated on a level above, he was a stunning player. Rooney had brilliant footballing intelligence, too, there's just silly stereotypes about him.

Not that hard to believe. Benzema played No9 for Real every single game, while we played Rooney everywhere on the pitch bar GK and DC.

I guess in my head Benzema hasn't been there more than a decade, while the narrative came out that he was "underwhelming" compared to Ronaldo. His record is anything but!

Roberto Carlos has more more CL goals than R9.

R9 had a weirdly poor CL career for such a sensational player playing for multiple fantastic teams in Europe.

Iirc balotelli had 1 assist his whole man City career. No prizes for guessing the goal.

Read the other day that Lindelof is 6' 2", so equals to Rio and 1" shorter than Vidic.
And I'm talking about their height.

There must be some optical illusion involved?

Just to be sure: you do know that neither of these players is Lindelof, right?

Scholes was so overrated. I mean, how could anyone think otherwise with such a poor assist record to the White Pelé?

Karim Benzema has more goals for Real Madrid than Wayne Rooney has for Man United
Not that hard to believe. Both spent 12 years at their clubs and Benzema always played centre forward, while Rooney played left wing, number 10 & central midfield in several games.

1 in 3 goals West Brom have scored this year in the PL have been against Chelsea

(and 1 in 4 Chelsea have conceded were against West Brom)

Ronaldo has as many hat-tricks (or better) over the course of his career as Iniesta has goals for Barcelona.

He only really played one CL season. That was 98 99 and even then he wasn't at his best anymore. Everything that came after 99 is Just a shell of his former self. And yes, that includes the 02 World Cup.

Virgil van Dijk - about to turn 30 this year - has never played in the Euros or World Cup so far in his career.

Today he's confirmed he's not going to the Euros this year either as he is concentrating on his recovery.

Ramos has been dropped from the Spain squad meaning for first time in history it's gunna start raining men. And Real won't have a Spanish player at a major tournament.

Apparently England have never won their opening game at the EC

Tenth time's a charm?

There is no third place play off game on the European Championships and hasn't been one since it was binned for being boring in 1980!
