Fabregas

This is what Fab will say tomorrow if he speaks:

"I am fully dedicated to Barcelona. It is true there were other clubs interested in buying me, but after I received assurances from the manager that I would be central to his plans this season, there was never any consideration of me leaving. Barca is my dream, my home, I love it here. I love the fans, the stadium, the ... [bla bla more bullshit] and I cannot wait for the season to begin."

And to sit on that lovely bench and watch my teammates win trophies.

More fool him if he believes Barca's promises about a prominent role & more games. Thiago, rightly, wasn't fooled.

If he misses the presser with a sore throat, it's on. C'mon Cesc, take one out of Rooney/Bale/Suarez/Luiz's book!

When someone like Ronaldo gives a press conference, you know there's a chance he'll say something like "we'll see what happens in the future." Fabregas, at his boyhood club, will say nothing but "I'm flattered by the interest but I'll stay and fight for my place." At least we'll be firmly out of our misery today. It's time to accept we'll be landing a far more mediocre midfielder. feck sake.

Unless he refuses to answer questions on his future- but I agree this will be put to bed today and he will commit.

Yeah, this morning. There's no way he's going to do anything other than tow the party line. You don't put a player who's going to leave in front of the press.

You wouldn't think so.

In some ways, it'll be good to get this concluded today, and hear Fabregas say, "I'm staying." On the other hand, if he doesn't deny the rumours, or commit his future to Barcelona, then the rumours will go into overdrive about him leaving.

Like you say though, can't see Barca putting him in front of the press without knowing what his plans are.

Some reports are suggesting that a fresh bid may have gone in overnight/this morning - that's our best chance of unsettling him.

Ronaldo's dream was to play for Madrid so for him to say "I don't know the future" is more likely to be contract posturing than if Fabregas says he is committed to Barca. I don't really see how you can come up with any sort of conclusion based upon what any of them say in the interviews really. Martino's line has been conflicting to say the least.

How is saying "I stay" committing to anything? I recall a certain Manchester United player saying the same thing.

Agree with your general point. But when Ronaldo said "I stay", his dream to play for Madrid was still one of the game's worst kept secrets. We still know absolutely nothing about Fabregas' intentions and so can only assume that he favours staying with his boyhood club.

Has anything actually happened since our second bid got knocked back and Moyes said we might leave it? Not really been following as I thought it'd die down after that and them saying we've agreed to leave it alone.

If we agreed to leave it alone and it all died down, why have the Barca camp continued to talk about it? Alves the other day basically said "Fabregas will do what he wants" and Martino today has said he will remain a Barca player.

Edit: it seems to me, based upon the conflicting standings that Barca are trying to put pressure on Fabregas to either make a decision or debunk it all.

Just a heap of speculation ranging from us giving up and us retaining an interest. Overnight there have been reports that we still retain an interest and may put in a third bid. Fabregas is supposedly doing a press conference today.

Ahhh I like it. We're playing transfer market Inception and planting the idea of moving to us into his head while he sleeps.

Someone should remind Fabregas that by signing with us he'll have the chance to play with Cleverley, Ando and Valencia. How can anyone beat that?

His not having no press conference. I don't know why we are all believing this.

You also said he won the league with Arsenal. So I am believing the direct opposite of what you post.

Anyone know what time this press conference is at?
