Fabregas

I still don't get why it's improbable we could sign both Ronaldo and Fabregas. Who's to say we haven't got the money for that?

Seems plausible to me.

http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/plausible?q=plausible
adjective

  • (of an argument or statement) seeming reasonable or probable:a plausible explanation

Fair enough. I can't see my way through how we would land both CR and CF in the same transfer window. To me, it's not reasonable to believe that it's probable, but it's certainly not impossible and would no doubt be highly desirable and highly commendable.

The only verified facts at hand are 1) that we've made two bids for Fabregas and that Barcelona have rejected both and that 2) Ronaldo has not extended his current contract with Real. Neither player has stated they want to leave their clubs for United and neither club has stated they would like to sell those players. We also believe Bale is going to Real, but as of this writing that hasn't happened yet. So we're really running on thin fumes to conclude there's a realistic chance, or even a remote chance, we'll land both this summer.

But I have no objection to wishful thinking. Wishful thinking is the key to making the world a better place.

He kissed the fecking badge lads, it's over. There's no labyrinthine plot afoot here. This is dead in the water and you're not going to get a more cast iron statement of intent than kissing the facking badge.

I've seen the goals, didn't see him kiss the badge though.

Well now, your short sightedness is no reason to pull out your silly dictionary, is it?

For a not-too-great a sum of money (relatively) we could afford both the players assuming quite plausible rumours we've heard are true. If Ronnie wants to leave we know how prone RM are to flogging talent cheap. If Cesc is wanting away too then we could land them both, plausibly.

I don't think we'll get either, personally, but that's not to say that there is no plausible way that it could happen.

For the record, by your own dictionary quote, for something to be plausible it only need seem reasonable. I can't see my way through how you'd think that the above is unreasonable. Unlikely, yes.

Also, I'm only taking the piss, if you genuinely care about how the word plausibly is being used I apologise to both you and your psychiatrist.

Today could be a new day, but we've been fairly stingy in recent years with new signings. We're all speculating so we know feck all, but I seriously doubt we could get Ronaldo for 60m. 80m sounds more like it. Best case scenario we land Fabregas for 35m, but it would likely take 40m to pry him loose from Barca. So let's call it 120m. That could happen, but it seems highly unlikely. In other words, there is no factual basis to believe that it's reasonable to believe that it's likely we will fork out 120m, let alone the massive wages it would take to get both to agree to it.

35 mill will probably enough to get Fabregas if, and it is a big if, he says that he wants to leave. You would doubt that in today's inflated transfer market that they would sell Ronaldo for 60 mill with 80 more likely but WTF do I know? In a wet dream both could arrive especially if we flog a few like Anderson, Nani and Rooney.

Wibbs, 120m for the two should get the job done. Hopefully, my skepticism about our ability to pull this off sensational pair of signings should be just enough jinx needed to allow this to actually come to pass.

And if bringing in CR and CF allows us to flog a few like Ando and Nani, Rooney as well, call it a two-fer!

I don't know if if anyone has opined on this yet, but can you imagine the look on Rooney's face when this all comes to pass? Ronaldo and Fabregas in, Rooney out (presumably to Chelsea) and we lift the prem trophy while Wayne and Colleen get to watch the trophy haul and open-top bus ride on TV!

Ronaldo, not going to happen, but he'd cost probably £70-80 million and Fabregas, I'm guessing would be £35-40 million.

We are not going to spend over £100 million in this transfer window, we might not even spend half of that.

Have faith that we can land both, until somebody says NO its not going to happen , I am still hopefull.

The ronaldo fee is the ronaldo money that we've had stashed for four years.
The majority of Real's bale fee would be our ronaldo money that we took from them in the first place...
The cesc fee would be the rooney money.
Chelsea's rooney fee would be raised by selling mata to barca.
Barca's mata fee would be the cesc money.

All adds up without anyone "losing" money and everyone is FFP happy (except city)

Sweet Jesus it's ON!

Plus, where did this badge kissing myth come from? And even if he did... we all know he loves Barca more than any other club, of he moves it'll be solely for the benefit of his playing career.

It's like a bird going out with a guy that she's obsessed with, but he doesn't really give a shit because he can have has loads of fit birds, so this bird is happy to run off to the next best guy. And even though there's the devoted ex boyfriend waiting in the background that would love to have her back, he just simply hasn't got as big a cock as the new guy she's going for. At the end of the day, all she wants is cock

Can some lazy reporter simply ask cesc? As many have said his silence in all this is for us the biggest hope.

I really wouldn't put this past Fergie, he knows what the Madrid circus is like and that there was a strong chance it wouldn't be the fairy tale Ronaldo envisioned.

Finally sounds like it could be progressing. I didn't expect Barcelona to change their stance to be honest.

Are you hopeful of us signing messi too? I'm not seeing anything credible to suggest were even after Ronaldo.

But 3 is ok? Do you have access to the figures?

Everything's possible. But aren't we really close to spending 50% of our turnover on wages? The PLC decided way back that we wouldn't pass this figure. Obviously it could change.

Ah, what am I even talking about. Discussions of what happens if we sign Ronaldo and Fabregas. Yeah, right.

A club of United's stature and repute would not be wasting time if we did not have a good reason of pursuing this transfer from the start. This is very much like the Rooney transfer - United would have done a done already had their been a foreign buyer.

If rumours are to be believed United are trying to offload a number of players to ease the salary burden. There's also a big increase in TV revenues this season. Even smaller clubs have been spending lavishly.

If it's just down to him now the decision must be pretty close either way. Cmon you horrible little pizza throwing bollix, prove my fan fickleness and come and play for Utd pleeease.

Hehe, but yes it could change, we have no idea what strategies are in place.

Bit early in the morning for that Woodzy

There's no need for that, young Luke. A simple disagreement resulted in question over a narrow point, the meaning of a particular word, resulting in an explanation as to why that word was specifically chosen. Not once was that other poster, a great and noble poster, abused.

I even extended an olive branch, expressing hope that he was right and that I was wrong, that the Good Lord would indeed bestow His beneficence on us deliver BOTH Ronaldo and Fabregas. If the Good Lord allows this to happen, then for all I care Fergie could join Jose and manage Chelsea -- we'd destroy them.

But then again we may instead have to settle for Fellaini.
Someone drop this guy in the ghetto and film it please.

Veron had as good as signed for Chelsea when he was on tour with utd in the states.

He also decided to actually play well on that tour annoyingly too.

Three is the magic number in football. No club can make more than three bids for the same player, no club can have more than 3 players on 200k a week on their books and only Chelsea are allowed to fire more than three managers during the course of one season.

Vato, none of this is any of your business.
Why? You think I'm just here to get peoples hopes up and laugh at them afterwards?

I might joke around in this thread sometimes but I genuinely want United to sign cesc. Or any other good central midfielder for that matter.
