Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas says he wants to "sort out" his future ahead of this summer's World Cup amid reports linking him with a return to Barcelona.
The 23-year-old Spain midfielder, who left the youth team at the Nou Camp for the Gunners in 2003, is contracted to the north Londoners until 2014.
But Fabregas told reporters in Catalonia: "Before I leave for the World Cup I want my future sorted.
"It benefits nobody if I go there with transfer talk on my mind."

The Gunners' failure to win a trophy for more than five years has led to rumours that he is growing disillusioned with life at the Emirates Stadium, with a return to Barcelona widely touted as his preferred choice should he leave London.
Joan Laporta, whose reign as the Catalan club's president comes to an end this summer, is a known admirer of the midfielder's, while two of Laporta's possible successors Sandro Rosell and Alfons Godall have mentioned signing Fabregas as part of their election campaign.

And that speculation will only intensify after Fabregas, in answer to the question "if you leave Arsenal, will it be for Barcelona?", replied "yes".
"You see your Spanish team-mates succeeding here at Barcelona and it is exciting because you have worked alongside them for so long," he added.
"I think I would like to go to Barcelona, whether or not they want me is another thing."
Fabregas's departure would certainly prove a body blow to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who recently revealed he will seek to strengthen his squad with "two or three" new players for next season.
The midfielder has in the past, though, brushed off speculation linking him with a host of big-money moves to the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City.
And Fabregas insisted that he would not force a move, stressing: "I am happy at Arsenal and I am not in a rush to leave."

If they come calling , he will find it hard to say no

I dont think they would miss him that much, especially if they sell for £35M+.

Wilshere is an amazing player and Lansbury looks good too. I dont rate Ramsey that highly, but some do.

Wilshere and Ramsey are certainly very talented players but with all due respect, they're a few years of development away from replacing Fabregas, who's Arsenal's most creative player. He seems to make them tick. Surely Barca will break the bank for him.

A 15-20 goal midfielder who your whole team is built around is usually missed quite a bit.

Wilshere is nowhere near his class as yet, and Lansbury is a good player but hardly lit the Championship up.

Hard to say no when Barcelona come calling. Arsenal would struggle initially but will be fine since they have a couple of good kids coming along.

35 million

Barca paid 60 for Ibra, they will need to do the same to bring Cesc home

Lads, lads, why do you still take Scholesly seriously.

Losing Fabregas would be a massive blow for Arsenal I wonder where Barca would see him fitting in? Would he get games ahead of Iniesta?

iniesta is injured enough, but when fully fit, iniesta can play wide left, david villa thru the middle, messi wide right.

fabregas, xavi, buscunts in the middle.

I'd take Fabregas over every midfielder at Barca other than Xavi, Iniesta is good, but I dont think he is as good as Fabregas

------------Xavi-----Busquets-----Fabregas-----

---Messi/Pedro-------------------------------Iniesta---
------------------Bojan/Messi/Ibra---------------

That is a heck of a lineup if he goes.

Arsenal will obviously miss Fabregas if he leaves, similar to how we "missed" Ronaldo. They will probably cope just fine though because Wenger is such a good manager. I'm sure that someone at Arsenal will step up as well (like Rooney). And Wenger will also bring in replacements with the £60m he will get.

Still very young, world class, on a long contract, Barcelona the buying club.

Could be + 60 M actually. Question is, do Barca need him at the moment? They don't really, so if I were Barca I'd wait a year or two, and then bring him in to replace Xavi. He won't be leaving anywhere else anyway.

 Iniesta's the best midfielder in the world.

Fabregas has been much better than Iniesta this season, and is more likely to make teams tick. Add to that the direct goal threat as a scorer or provider...Spain at the World Cup with both of them in the team should give us a clue.

Since Yaya Toure is leaving, if I were Pep I would be looking at Mascherano instead.

Fabregas doesn't start for Spain does he?

According to Balagay, he has told Wenger today that he wants to leave Arsenal and rejoin Barcelona. It is breaking on Sky Sports News now.

I know it won't ever happen I wish we could go for Iniesta if Barca get Fab. Wonder how it will work with Xavi, Fab and Iniesta as Spain don't even use all 3 at once.

Xavi Busquets Fabregas

Messi Villa Iniesta

I think Fabregas is just what Barcelona need to be honest, will be scary to think of their team if they get him.

I disagree. Barca with Iniesta and Xavi in tandem are better than when they put Iniesta out to the left for Keita and possibly Fabregas next season.

They should be looking to build around Iniesta and Xavi, not arsing around with an inferior version of Iniesta.

He will add goals from an area; midfield; where Barcelona have had a lack of them; once thing Xavi & Iniesta do not do regularly, is score goals.

He'd be pretty awesome for Barcelona. His decision making and passing are up there yet he has more goals than any of their other midfielders. Imagine Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas as a midfield.

Likely being Iniesta plays on the left though but it's not like Fabregas cant play in a wide area too. He did for spain at the euros.
