Pretty sure we are interested and man city are not. Le equipe arent that reliable anyways. Pedrosi says we are interested. Also There si no mention of a clause, its just Monaco's asking price, yesterday a report said it was 30 million.

I read release clauses aren't legal in France

I would love it. Such a good player and as long as it would reduce time playing from Fellaini (who has done well this season all things considered but should never start for us ideally) and allow Herrera to play in a slightly more advanced position.

Completely agree with that, we've needed a proper DM for a long time, especially now that we have Herrera and Pogba. Buying Fabinho would allow both of them to really express themselves and reach their full potential.

Yes and Fabinho is comfortable on the ball so he would be a good passing option from the back too.

Maybe Mourinho is satisfied with Herrera as the holding midfielder and he wants a box to box midfielder to rotate with Fellaz.

To be fair, when Herrera plays as an 8, he doesn't offer much going forward. We could certainly do with someone who could help Pogba out creatively, hence why I feel we need, both a holding and box to box midfielder.

I would have thought in most games (ie against weaker teams) we'd play a 4231, like we did in the second half of this season. There's no reason to play the more defensive 433 against weaker teams and playing 4231 allows better link and fluidity in attack, as well as being able to play Mikhi in his best position.

If we play a 4231 then Fabinho or another DM would definitely be a huge benefit because it would help Pogba with the defensive stuff and let him be a bit more attack minded

Honestly if we don't get Fabinho I think we'll get Matic, I'm sure Mou will sign someone though for that DM role

Stop wrongly quoting me man :wenger:!

But what would Fabinho add to our midfield? In a 4231 I guess he would replace Herrera. In a 433 we might get to see both of them. What qualities would he bring to our midfield that we currently lack?

He'd allow others to express themselves more with the guarantee of a good cover. It would be a small step into the right direction. We have a solid team but we need to improve the fluidity of football so that with better transitions we could create more.

I agree with a fair bit of what you say.

Why are Juventus interested in random french midfielders ? Lemina (who was just above average) and now Tolisso (who is still a good player but there are much better players out there).
Our head scout saw something in Lemina, guess he was drunk.
As to Tolisso, he did pretty well in both legs against us and he's very promising and suits perfectly the profile we're looking for (a new Vidal)

Really important to get a deep midfielder for a 433 to work. Would bring the best out of Pogba and Herrera in big games.
We've got the players to play a 4231 already, which we can use against the weaker teams. It's just a matter of signing the right striker and winger.

Looks exactly the type of player we need. Would have love Silva also from Monaco but think we decided on Griezmann and that fell through or we'd have bidded for Silva.

I wouldnt be surprised if we were super confident on Griezmann so we let Silva go. Anyhow, Fabinho would make up for that imo

Will wait for a caf translation of that article but if true, thank the Lord!

Is anyone stalking him and know when he's back from his holidays?

After "monitoring the situation" comes "a remarkable advance", and once we've made enough of a remarkable advance we'll strike with a "concrete offer"

Woah, woah, woah.. Are you sure we've suitably prepared our bid? I haven't read anywhere that we've reached the "preparing to bid" stage, therefore, I remain sceptical.

No no we have to prepare the offer first

If rumours of Jardim leaving are true, then you'd think a lot of this Monaco squad will want out.

He makes too much sense. Fairly reasonable cost, covers 2 positions we need filling (RB+CDM) suits Jose's style of play as a tall, quick, physical player who can play well.

I would be shocked if Jose doesn't like him, all the talk seems to be about Bakayoko but he looks like half the player to me.

Bakayoko is way overrated imo, all about physical strength

REMARKABLE advance, omg...

I think that's the tweet that has got me ignoring transfer news this season.

And then cool our interest

 Gotta laugh, otherwise I'll cry. Don't know what "United target" even means anymore..

He has more legs than Carrick, is technically better than Fellaini, and is a natural DM whereas Herrera is not. He adds a great deal that we are extremely lacking in Midfield, presence, composure to name 2. If we played a 3 - Fabinho would sit and distribute the play from the back, while Pogba & Herrera play more advanced. Herrera has been brilliant covering the DM role, but needs to be more advanced. The few games I've seen of Monaco, Fabinho has always stood out, he looks determined, looks like he has a winning mentality - we certainly need more of that!

We would also benefit from another CM signing for additional cover/quality in midfield

No, Monaco isn't built on Jardim and he isn't the only manager on earth. Also Fabinho is free to go no matter who coaches the club.
